Also love the Naso. Had not much success so far. Have a 6ft 200gallon tank. Not over crowded... had twice one who didn't wanted to eat. Now got a new one who eats really well. The place I get them now from quarantine them for 2 weeks to see how the fish is doing without them being on meds and if they eat. This is a small one. Who I now have for a month. One thing I noticed about the Naso tang is that the love swimming in front of the tank up and down.

Hahaha I guess I'm almost have him for a year now. He's doing amazing, he became my puppy. Eats out of my hand, when getting the nori clip out, I can handfeed the last bit of the clip. Also follows me cleaning my glass to see if he gets lucky getting some algae rests... he is still the smallest Tang in my aquarium though but in total peace with them. For sure he swims the most in front of the tank in front of the rock work

Love your foxface! I really want a magnificent one. Hoping to get one actually!
@Stevenliu93 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Foxfaces are by far the best algae eater I've known. But also borderline on reefsafe as they can and will nip on corals and clams. just something to consider.

Great video thanks ! I know this is old and you might not be on your channel but how do you get a lipstick to eat ? Have had no success in getting one to eat during QT. A smaller ones easier than medium/large size ? Thanks
@Stevenliu92 жыл бұрын
never had a problem getting naso tangs to eat.... do you quarantine your fish? One thing I'd try is having the fish in isolation (not necessarily QT) and start with nori sheet and massticks, once they take on to them and is fattened up then release the into the DP with others.

Was checking a website and saw they had a Naso Brevirostris available... didn't notice it last time when I was over their... don't think that's suitable for most aquariums (if at all) was also pretty cheap.
@Stevenliu9 Жыл бұрын
Naso tangs are actually one of the most peaceful tangs. The only catch is they will requite quite a bit of swimming room so yes they aren’t the best fit for most aquariums under 200-300 gallons

i'm in Vietnam now and in the Southern Vietnam, Naso unicornis is incredeble popular !
@Stevenliu93 жыл бұрын
In what way are they popular? In the aquarium trade, or in fish market? LOL, but all jokes aside, I do see many of the jewel fish we keep as pets here being sold for meat in the market in Asia, including emperor angels!
@ccn50653 жыл бұрын
@@Stevenliu9 yeah in both fish trade and fish market. I've eaten the emperor angels but they rarely hunt for them now. People in Vietnam now hunt for gray angelfish because its bigger. Angelfish taste good ! ps.I've seen anthias in fish market !

Your trigger is also amazing!!! I thought they eat coral though. Which trigger is that??
@Stevenliu93 жыл бұрын
I have a humu humu (Picasso) Trigger who is the boss in the tank. It does like to chump on stony stuff so I cannot keep stony corals with it. But it leaves anemones and soft corals alone, for the most part.

You are right, now that I think about it I have not seen naso tangs commonly offered across retail (even online) for a while now. it's almost like strike gold when you do see one.

I'm buying a Blue 5-6" Unicorn Fish. It has no horn, you said that's not uncommon, can you tell the difference between Male & female? I have a 6 ft tank hope to upgrade when it's bigger.
@Stevenliu92 жыл бұрын
I have seen unicorn fish in the wild as large as 18" without horns. I am not certain whether the horn is a clear indication of sex, from my understanding many of the tangs in the naso family are sexed by the tail streamers. Happy to hear any experts to chime in here.
