I have found that Gain Solar has some of the best videos on KZbin for DIY solar, especially if using a ground mount for panels and a Sol-Ark inverter.

Thanks for the videos. I am helping friends DIY and the Sol-Ark Mounting, IMO mounting, and gutter box uses that you have shown have come in very helpful. Inspecting electrician praised the work, which was largely a copy of what you have shown.

I just came across this video to see how others were routing their installs. I like the idea of wire ways but take up a lot of space. Also, don't you need to make sure there is 6" below inverter to not impeding air flow for cooling?
@JohnnyValentine75 ай бұрын
The space under the inverter is dead space anyway . The 12k side vents the 15k does need 6” clearance.

how do you get battery wires into the wireway? do you need stain relief like with SER? thanks.

I’m wondering why not use silver busbars and lugs etc in places that’s possible sense silver have a better electric conductivity
@GainSolarPower2 жыл бұрын
Because once you achieve a certain level of conductivity you are good. If the connections aren’t heating up you aren’t losing power and the cost of silver is unnecessary. Do you fill your vehicle up with premium gas every time?
@MJHanneman82 Жыл бұрын
The bus bars need to be UL listed.

Could you post some links on where to purchase wireways 12”x12” 90 deg corner end caps anything else i have never used a wire-way but intend to do so also where to purchase the hydraulic thru hole punch thx
@GainSolarPower Жыл бұрын
You need to find the corner from the same maufacturer of your wireway so it will fit. The knockout punch from harbor freight is cheap and decent

Hey man, awesome video as usual. Do you know of a grid tie inverter that has a zero export feature. I know solark has that option, but it's very pricey. Don't want to get involved with net metering and the electric company. Cheers 🍻

Would you be interested in consulting me on DIY a Magnum ME-AGS-N to a Champion 8.5k. It’s the whole home stationary generator. I’m usually pretty good at figuring this stuff out. But man I’ve been reading the manuals for both for a couple days now and I think I bit off more then I can chew on my own.

1” liquid-tite worked great for my two 12K’s. Safe, cheaper, easier to procure for the DIY’er, less labor, easier to make changes in the future. Do what makes ya happy. I see a lot of systems installed with wire ways under 12K’s that still have lots of unprotected Romex or battery cables exposed. Why cover up some wiring with metal when you can have a 1” spaghetti install like me?

I see a lot of popular youtube installers using wireways/gutters with PV source wires (input to inverter) in the same wireway as all other wires, with no partitions... 690.31(b) I guess if the PV wires are fused (NEC def of "Power Limited", it's "OK".... )

The solark PV mppts are self limiting
@unionse7en Жыл бұрын
@@GainSolarPower The 2020 wording is tough" : "PV system dc circuits and Class 1 remote control, signaling, and power-limited circuits of a PV system shall be permitted to occupy the same equipment wiring enclosure, cable, or raceway. [Then is says >>: PV system dc circuits shall NOT occupy the same equipment wiring enclosure, cable, or raceway. as other non-PV systems, or *inverter output circuits*, unless the PV system dc circuits are separated from other circuits by a barrier or partition."

and NEC 2023: changes it : " (2) Inverter output circuits shall be permitted to occupy the same junction box, pull box, or wireway with PV system dc circuits that are identified and grouped as required by 690.31(B)(2) and (B)(3)."

@@unionse7en So, how do you handle this is your AHJ is still on 2020 NEC and you get dinged for having your PV wires from your array in a raceway? Keep them in isolated in metal conduit all the way to the Solark?

Wire box is overkilled for household solar. I used to install medical x ray equipments way more complicated than the solar stuffs and I have never used the wire box even as big as yours. It is called wire box NOT wireway. Don't need it save money for battery better bang for the bucks.
