I just came across this video to see how others were routing their installs. I like the idea of wire ways but take up a lot of space. Also, don't you need to make sure there is 6" below inverter to not impeding air flow for cooling?
@JohnnyValentine7
@JohnnyValentine7 7 күн бұрын
The space under the inverter is dead space anyway . The 12k side vents the 15k does need 6” clearance.

Great idea... I want to use with battery backup rather than generator and I like the idea if not having to mess with the meter... Can I I use an ATS instead of the manual switch? Can you please recommend an automatic transfer switch?

Considering that solar panels installed through your roof, void most roof warranties.

Seems like you could do it in the opposite order, mount the solark and then put the wireway under it. Would that be easier to match up the holes?

It is worth the pain folks, you got to find the right people to do this kind of stuff. I supervised my system installs and it has been working fine for almost 10 years. Then again I live in TX so lot's of sun, but I was paying 200 bucks a month in summer months, now the highest is around 20 with a max of 30 bucks for the next 25 years, lowest in the rest of the year is 12-15 bucks, I also installed my own system, as a backup during power outages, works like a charm, and while others go without, I'm making coffee and running my mini splits. Do you home work and question everything. Good video, hope people start doing their homework before pulling the trigger, specially on big purchases.

I would argue that the application of “whatever manufacturer approved caulk” is not the way to apply it! Additionally the most effective way to fasten the bracketS would be to use a a Pilot bit, establish the sized need to penetrate roofing only without damaging the purlins (drilling into them) Make depth jig with block of wood easy)!!! Before placing bracket inject a small amount of sealer in drilled holes that’s “manufacturer compatible” with the rubber gasket. Use a drill bit smaller than the overall diameter of the structural fasteners “non self tapper stainless or galvanized course thread wood bolts” long enough to penetrate purlins! Look at me POS Hawaiian Cottage shorts! No solar yet but getting there! drill bit and physically removing it to make certain there are NO metal barbs that will make the warranty and rubber seal void! Not trying to blast on your parade just trying to help sorry if my words was jumbled up and what not even though I’m living here in Hawaii I’m from Appalachia and I got me a brain 🧠 injury

The possibility of a lightening ground strike radiating up 1 ground source a riding throughout a system and out the other grounding electrode source is frightening. I feel better with only the two ground rods at the house which are bonded together underground. Then just bond all metal parts together. The Sinclair being galvanized I wonder how insulated it is in the ground? Yes I watch too much Mike Holt.
