I’m suspicious of how that interview has been edited. He easily could have said “animal farming needs to stop” and the editor cut out “animal”. I can’t find a single version of this interview anywhere that isn’t edited like this. Smells like bullshit to me.

While most of the feedback here in comments is treating this guy like he is delusional. Yes, you could say that his view that animal farming will cause global disaster is absurd; however it actually holds weight. But in a very long term vision. Its equivalent to say taking the limit as x goes to infinity of (log(x) / 10 billion). This number is really small at a glance, but as time goes on (x goes to infinity), this limit does indeed approach infinity. He actualy makes valid points about the goverment subsidizing issues which are pushing meat and corn industry . These subsidies should be changed to push green vegetables and various types of grains/potatoes, etc. We truly do not need cow meat. I think fish and chicken are healthy meats we could keep. And yes, this view here is completely wishful thinking. In a capitalist market, this will never happen. People have too much to lose switching things around. And the goverment will never change these subsidies because goverment politics is corrupt and influenced by greed.

Subsidies (USDA) 1995-2000: Livestock subsidies = $12.5 billion Corn subsidies = $116.6 billion Soybean subsidies = $44.9 billion Most of the corn is being turned into HFCS and ethanol (both consumed by humans). Most of the soybean is processed to extract the oil (100% consumed by humans as biodiesel, cooking oil and ultra-processed food ingredients) There's something called regenerative rotational ruminant grazing management which is terrific at sequestering carbon back into the soil and reversing desertification. But you probably don't know about it or are a misanthrope looking to cause harm, so you'll attack it. Either way, you're a problem and a breathing misanthrope is an oxymoron. Something to think about.

@@janieswanson2549 you are talking about something not said? no one said we should eat live stock feed. no one said we should produce live stock feed. the whole point is to stop producing live stock feed. and instead grow vegetables, and plants for human consumption instead of being inefficient by producing plants just to feed animals and then finally eating the product. all the money that goes into livestock production should be cut and invested into plant to human consumption

@@tombombadil1351 So your solution is to send all of that industrial waste to the landfill where it will create CO2, NO2, and Methane in higher concentrations than livestock produce by digesting it... Inflated gas, beer, soybean, wheat, nuts, palm oil, and corn prices as well. Seems off that you're okay with using animal products needlessly for entertainment while arguing normal people should stop eating the same animals. Seems like a bad idea to create more greenhouses gases. It's your hill though. LOL
