Crazy that this is still around, I remember when I was in 2nd or 3rd grade I got some sort of battle bot arena toy for christmas one year. I'm now 31. Just watched this entire video and it's wildly enjoyable and man have the bots themselves progressed so much since back then.

Who cares about cheating... BB don't. I still can't unsee the fight between witch doctor and Minotaur with a pause the battle because witch doctor got *stuck* when it should have been counted out. To me this is all rigged now and I do not care for the outcomes anymore because of that. Still cool to see wat people can build but BB ruined most of it for me.

I rather like it. The raw arena sound makes it easier to hear mechanical problems as they happen - wheelspin, stalled motors, unbalanced weapons, crunching gearboxes, and so on. The lack of Chris and Kenny may make the fights less attractive to casual viewers who aren't sure what's going on and who like to be told what to look out for, but it's better for peeps who're familiar with the sport. (Just my opinion...)

They are remote controlled. A good amount of knockouts come from just coms interference, where the bot just can’t respond to the controller inputs due to sustained internal damage.

There is a long history to this sport, but every competitor has to follow the same set of rules, selecting weapons, armor, and tactics for the best possible outcome against an unknown set of opponents. Qualifying rounds are fought before they make it to the real competition just to be sure the bots can put on a good show. I highly recommend looking up past seasons, and even other variants, like Robot Wars or the fights between smaller bots. Remember that the bots on Battlebots are 200+ lbs! There are other fights with bots that fit in the palm of your hand.
