There is a long history to this sport, but every competitor has to follow the same set of rules, selecting weapons, armor, and tactics for the best possible outcome against an unknown set of opponents. Qualifying rounds are fought before they make it to the real competition just to be sure the bots can put on a good show. I highly recommend looking up past seasons, and even other variants, like Robot Wars or the fights between smaller bots. Remember that the bots on Battlebots are 200+ lbs! There are other fights with bots that fit in the palm of your hand.

@@Wourghk Ethan was clever with Riptide’s spinup tests. The bot got new motors that intensified the power and Ethan intentionally underpowered the weapon during the tests and then went full ham in the arena.

@@Wourghk The spinner was spinning faster than the limit allowed. It was ok during the tests, but strangely, it was noisier during the battle, indicating it was - probably - spinning faster.

Who cares about cheating... BB don't. I still can't unsee the fight between witch doctor and Minotaur with a pause the battle because witch doctor got *stuck* when it should have been counted out. To me this is all rigged now and I do not care for the outcomes anymore because of that. Still cool to see wat people can build but BB ruined most of it for me.

best ones are the ones that dont involve some blunt lump of iron spun to 4000 rpm. Like of course you'll smash anything you hit with a lump of metal traveling at a high portion of the speed of sound.
