He also brought in Davis, Reader and Davenport. Let's not forget Betts and Moseley might still pan out. The gaps were filled and Glenn finally has more of a complete defense to work with.

Nicely done, Coach! Dan Campbell was thoroughly impressed with what Jack Campbell did to his body during the off season. So when you think of the savagery that JC brings to the game, he may well take last year's version up another notch- and that will invoke a certain level of fear factor in the Lion's opponents.

One thing i notice is the Lions go for players with instinct over pure athleticism. Brian Branch for example had a "slow 40" but he can read and react to a play faster than anyone else on the field. Campbell is very similar in that way.

Jack was league average at worst in coverage last year imo. For a rookie playing a very mentally tough position, i personally couldn't have been happier with him. Not to mention he's an actual giant trying to pace dudes 40lbs lighter .

Again, nice intro. Fun watch! Agree with you Coach on his yet unseen coverage abilities. As sudden as he is down hill-he can drop by large swaths into coverage. While his length makes him a goalkeeper in passing lanes. It is impressive watching Jack tackle Dillion. One thing to add to your software analogy. AG said last year, Jack doesn’t make the same mistake twice-he learns and applies updates instantly. Watch him in game two against Soldier Fields. You’re right about the forced read QB keep hurting us. I remember your Tomlin tip before we played your Ravens…that was prescient… Also how does Branch stand out in so much film?! Lastly, Jack’s not the same this year, he said he felt he was the reason why CMC made a play and why Detroit didn’t advance to the SB. With that kind of Extreme Ownership, I don’t think we’re going to see Rookie Jack again.

I can’t tell you how deflated I felt when the Lions selected a LB and a TE from Iowa in the draft. Now I’m seeing them as core pieces on a Championship caliber roster. Combined with their fellow Lions draftees in that class, this team has a bright future.
@brandonbaty2291

Pretty amazing how we all get duped by being inundated with the same mock drafts all off season. We just take the snippets of info we get from people who barely know more than the average Joe on a couch and regurgitate the same names as if thats a realistic way to “scout” talent pre-draft. We set ourselves up to be disappointed when we get so deluded about who is ranked where etc. And when our team has a very talented scouting dept along with a GM that is amazing at evaluating talent and THEY pick someone we didnt hear about as much in freaking mock drafts, we act like we know better. Its lunacy.
@jasonhill9674
@jasonhill9674 15 күн бұрын
@@brandonbaty2291 - You absolutely have those fans out there and the draft and player evaluations are n extremely lucrative business full of opinions and speculation. I don’t waste my time with mock drafts since Brad, Dan, Shiela and Chris are making the decisions. At least I was spot on with taking a RB early, I just didn’t have the correct rb. But a LB & TE? C’mon now. In my worst draft I don’t think I would have dreamt of Campbell or LaPorta, but then again, neither did many professionals. Let Brad cook is my motto!

@lionized_wingnut

Thank you Coach! Another AWESOME video. With Terrell Williams coaching a line full of stallions that maybe added to with DE Judon from NE as recent rumors suggest; McNeil, Reader, an up and coming Broderick Martin, Paschal, Ozwuzurike, Wengo, Hutchinson and hopefully a breakout year for Cominsky on the other end(?) ...the Lions look STRONG. Why this last player comment? As of now on the Lions website Marcus Davenport is listed as an OLB; again sugesting the Lions are pursuing DE Judon? Matieu Betts is not listed DE but DL yet also has been commented on in the media as OLB and not a DE as he played in the CFL. Thus with camp and cuts how this all shakes down will be interesting. I do WHOLEHEARTEDLY agree with you Coach that Campbell and the entire Linebacker Crew with have increased tackle statistics in the upcoming season due to better DL play with better coaching and marvelous monster talent up front. Lastly I agree with you, having played Linebacker myself that Barnes is better deployed along the line of scrimmage while Campbell lines up inside. A shout out MUST be given to Chris Spielman who most likely found Campbell on film and via scouting reports ...pushing his Coach and GM to take Campbell in the 1st round of the draft. Thanks again coach. #GoLions #DanTheManCampbell #OnePride #CantonizeStBrown

Favorite lion for me. Always liked lbs and hes a downhome country boy. I think last year they really just plug and played him at wherever they needed him. He was taking alot of rush linebacker/de snaps once Houston went down. If he has a full year at MLB with the green dot, I think we'll be able to see his true potential this year.

I am looking for Jack to make that 2nd yr jump and start taking over the LB room in 2024. Last year he got good game time to put plays on the field in different positions, so it should help his understanding and use of the defense/his teammates. And if he can take over Green Dot, that frees up Anzalone to be a weapon. Man I can't wait for 2024.💪🦁💙

He was pretty bad as a rookie. Reminds me a lot of other LBs m. Fans go off tackle numbers. . Then you look up numbers from Sims, Davis Lehman, and E. Holmes and see even really bad LBs get to 100 Ts routinely. It’s ok. He was kind of a fringe first round guy as it was. And if you had selected Laporta with pick 2 and Campbell with pick 3, nobody would really mind. He needs big growth in year 2. He should get that with better DBs. If he keeps making tackles 8 yards off the LOS tho…….
