Chuck bends and Thunders 👍👍👍 That’s what hooked me in the beginning of your KZbin channel endeavour. Maybe on your new website we can do an in depth lesson on Mudhoney Touch Me Im Sick. 1969 Stooges would be another one. I’m trying to lay down looper rhythm / bass lines now with improv soloing, I think it will be a big step forward. Trying to do my own cover versions of all these great songs. Thunders and Walter Lure were masters of that sleazy Chuck Berry double stop solo. I remember reading an interview with Walter Lure discussing about Johnny Thunders he said with respect he Walter was the better player technically but if if you put him in a room with a hundred other guitarists it would be difficult to pick out his playing where as with Thunders it’s easily recognisable. Another guitarist along the same lines though maybe a bit more technical is Rick Nielsen of Cheap Trick some of his punk rock n roll solos are exceptional

Thanks for the comment! That makes total sense. I agree that Walter Lure was definitely technically better, but Johnny Thunders playing cuts through and is so influential and recognizable. I like a lot of Rick Nielsen's playing too.

Thanks for doing these, I've been following avidly and it has helped my playing a lot to finally learn all these Dolls / Heartbreakers riffs/ solos. Would you ever consider doing the title track from the So Alone solo LP?

Actually, I take back that request. Using what I've learned from your other videos and my own ear I just learned "So Alone". It's basically the same set of tricks JT uses in every song. Bending the G string into unison with the b, the same riff/bend but played a step and half higher, a chuck berry slide with a little memphis-esque riff three and half steps lower, the tremolo picking off the b/e double stop with another g string unison bend in every set, the rest is just a little box shape pentatonic noodling.
