Lord Bath has handed control of the £190 million estate to his son, Ceawlin, but the handover isn't going smoothly. Ceawlin upset his father when he moved back in, and the pair are no longer on speaking terms. In the village on the estate, there's further unrest after Ceawlin puts up the villagers' rents. Meanwhile, Ceawlin's wife Emma is settling into life as Lady Weymouth. She now has her own servants and the run of the 130-room historic house - but she must get used to sharing her home with a daily stream of visitors. In the safari park, the animal keepers watch ...

RIP to the old lord. Over 30 years ago I was on a bike tour with two pals across southern England and one evening we just couldn't find any camp site in the area except the CCC site on the grounds of Longleat House but they refused us bc we had no membership. As it already was about to getting dark we were a bit at the end of our wits. So we cycled down at the house and there was this hippie looking man coming out of a small side door and we asked him if he'd know a different camp site nearby. But he just kindly invited us to put up our tents on his grounds just anywhere we wanted. Awakening the next day under huge old trees and having breakfast with a view towards Longleat House in the morning sun was just so beautiful and still is the highlight of this tour. Thanks a lot, hippie Lord. 👍

Harald sending this from Germany. About 1990 I was for study in Bournemouth Kings College. At one weekend five students decided to drove in the country, we hired a car. There was one student from Russia, one from Switzerland, one from France, one from Thailan and me from Germany. All five were sitting in the small car and we found a sign to Longleat House. We drove in. It was in December 1990. We drove direclty in front of the stairs of the entrance. A man came out and in his hands there was a gun. His welcome speech was not friendly. Because we parked the car directly in front. The house was closed, and we appologized and told him, that five students of different countries are enthused to see the House and the garden. After we drove our car away, he asked us into the house. We had a nice conversation in five languages and he showed us some rooms. Today during planning a trip by motorhome I happened to find it again. And here in KZbin I remeber thenvery nice man. It was Lord Bath. I am very happy to see this and remember Lord Bath.
