to make explicit how good the tome of devastation is for besieging cities, the warbreed has the siege breaker passive (adds fortification damage to a siege its participating in) and the construct devastator sphere siege project adds 8 fortification damage to the siege it's used on.

Demonic anthem seems like a crazy good hero skill for combat summons. Free fiend with every friendly death? Keep running Houndmasters from your T1 Horde Tome, would get silly amounts of units. Only question is who needs the skill? If my leader has it will all hounds convert into fiends? Or do I need it on every hero leading a stack? Or do summoned units not convert?

I’ll be honest I’m pretty reserved with giving out my subscriptions just bc I don’t like a lot of bloat in that tab. But you have most certainly earned it in a crazy fast amount of time

If I may, Gremlin are absolutely stupidly OP on their own for the tome of Mayhem. They're "behind you" spell cause pretty high damage for a one action point skill, which alone would make them decent mobile attacker, but the 180° turn around is just stupidly OP. If you combine it with a race with the Sneaky trait, you get +50% damage on all your attack against the turned around target and you break its zone of control. The Gremlin alone carry the book

Thanks for bringing this up! I wasn't able to try them out myself yet. I wish the description would more clearly mark out that these guys apply the flanking condition to the enemy. Cause I feel like it's a bit hard to read out, especially when youre newer to the game. I keep forgetting about this nifty trait utilizing flanking so hard ;)

Dorian hit the nail on the head with the gremlins. Plus cheap fiends. Once you unlock fight for power you can go nuts. Played a game where I had stacks of Balors from gremlins.

I've played with the Chaos tomes and fiends a few times, and I want to say that I found the Summon Balor spell totally useless because Fight for Power is so much better. With Demonic Anthem on your hero, you can intentionally kill off all of the free T1-T2 units you get after winning fights from the Chaos Imperium path and convert them into random T1-T3 demons (description says T1-T2 but it can give you T3 Nightmares), then combine them into Balors without needing sacrifice pops from your city. It also uses less mana/casting points than summoning one directly. Once you get one Balor online this way you can use one of its abilities to convert enemies into free fiend units as well. I never produced any fiend units from my cities or summoned any fiend units directly, but was still overflowing with hellhounds and gremlins that I could smash together to get Nightmares, then Chaos Eaters, then Balors. Chaos is definitely the best snowbally win-more path to get huge armies without really paying for them. It also gives you lots of free units to raze every province of a city in one turn.

I always wondered if the Balor was not actually meant for players coming from the Mystic path, playing with lots of magic origin creatures. While the Fight For Power way is more meant for "regular recruiters" if you catch my idea. Thanks for this nice summary there, really insightful =)

I would say Horde is equal to Pyro for T1. Revelry beats Mayhem T2. Devastation beats Pandemonium T3. Chaos channelling beats Demon Gate T4, In terms of straight up usefulness I've found so far

There probably the best book for war but they don’t give you anything outside of that.

Tome of the horde is the only really good tome for chaos -.- Pandemonium is fine but the chaos tomes are worse than other tomes. Even the tier 5 tome is like the worst of all tier 5... I like them but they are not the best not even close....

@@wrongix6544 but horde can carry whole game, afinnity helps too. Tome of devastation is extremely good too. Sure mayhem and pandemonium are very meh, you're right.

​@@wrongix6544 I have quite different impression. Chaos tomes grant you pretty good bonuses like that tier V one, when your hero summons fiends everytime he kills an enemy. That skill alone had saved my ass quite a few time during crimson caldera mission, not to mention being able to summon your leader onto every battle. And the siege project - man, they turn 10 hours long siege into 3-4 one. Not to mention Thad the tome of demon gate grants you access to an unique teleporter that not only costs no mama, but also allows you to recruit fiends up to tier IV. And when you have two tIV demons, you cast fight for power and now you have a fucking balor in your army.

I think chaos eaters should be tier 3, I mean if you look at the watchers, also a summon battlemage, wich are tier 3, they are double as strong damage wise, more range, way more range with the skill, wich can stun and mark, they are immune to flacking 😅

Well these guys are not about being ranged at all. They want to be right in the middle of the scenario and dealing lots of damage and staying alive while blasting point blank AoE spells. I haven't tried out how well that works, but that's the idea of the devs. The T4 Frame of the Chaos Eater is actually good for this scenario, cause this gives him higher base stats which he will need to survive. I think that these guys can be really nasty cause they focus fire if you don't want to get exploded by your debuffs. Gotta playtest that though, cause so far I'm only theorycrafting here admittedly.

@@BlackBirdOni Yeah the Battle Mage Tag on these guys is very misleading. They are the only full up close range battle mage unit I found so far ^^ And I am still skeptical about how good they actually work. Really gotta playtest a debuff strat soon.

Yepp astral tomes are the best... If you wanna go for some other theme its best to take some astral tomes too if you wanna be on top

@@wrongix6544 Nah I just go full astral + some shadow affinity + nature tier 2 for overgrowth and for beasts upgrade (for phase dog). Then I make my wizard king teleport around the map and solo 18 squad armies and thats it.
