Omega Shenron considering just how popular xv 1 and xv 2 are there is almost no questioning if they're gonna make a third game as the xeno games have done well two times in a row. honestly this game is most likely just to give players more dbz content to hold us off until xenoverse 3 comes out, and isn't​ supposed to be a full game experience, hence why it's reverted back to the 2d/3d side scroller format, and it's a smaller game, but that's just my opinion I could be completely wrong. let's be honest though xenoverse 3 is most likely gonna happen in a couple of years from now.(my guess is two mabye even 1/2)

Omega Shenron Bandai Namco and Dimps confirmed it. They're doing the same thing Assassin's Creed did by putting in an extra year into developing the game, hence why Arc Studios is developing Dragon Ball FighterZ and not Bandai Namco themselves.

Actually this uses the GG Xrd engine, its 3D but to the point its so fixated that it looks great in 2D. The frames is obviously deliberate to stay loyal to the modern anime visuals which is a nice touch, it wouldnt look like 2D if it ran at 60 FPS+ animations. The frame by frame was used by their previous titles from Xrd like Blazblue (The engine is better looking and much more budget and development time friendly, allowing them to make more games more quickly and focus in things like gameplay aspects and balance as this is the first time Dragon Ball Z will have a game that will be played competitively like an e-sports level).

this game is appealing to real, tournament style, fighting games such as street fighter, marvel vs cpcom, blazblue, and guilty gear. if you'd rather play xenoverse, you are a casual, which is fine. this game is not meant for casuals. if you dont like it, that is fine, but i for one will always prefer this type of fighter to xenoverse's total lack of an actual fighting game system.

Someone actually did a pretty deep analysis of this, and it becomes pretty clear that this game is animated using 2D animation methods despite using 3D models (which is actually pretty hard to nail down like this), and it also uses techniques used in the original anime and manga. So this is right at home with the series even before Super.

This may sound weird, but I actually enjoy the change from a 3D semi open world game like Budokai Tenkaichi to a 2D fighting style game like Infinite World or Budokai. Besides the graphics help a lot, they're still 3D models but sprites at the same time, I think I'm going to really enjoy this game
