I love content that talks about Smite’s past maps, metas, etc. I played the game a shit ton seasons 1 and 2 but only got back into it again in the middle of season 10. I barely played the game years 3-9. I feel like I missed out on so much, and it’s hard to find anything online explaining how the maps worked at the time or why the meta was the way it was, and that kinda stuff is super interesting to me.

season 8 was ideal

I started in season 5. I really liked the invade meta when a herc supp would just chase around looking and he couldn't farm lol. But in general I feel like the maps have gotten better with each iteration. I would give a slight edge to the larger current map from 10 and 11 over 8 and 9. I really liked 8 and 9 but I like the map being larger and I feel like there is more to contest now and also the ability to take something else if you can't contest. Stygian, gold, Pyro, bull demon, fg. Not to mention totems. I also like the change to stacking buff shamans and making protecting your shaman camp and invading their have more value.

The only thing I liked more on a season 8-9 map than on the current one is that you had more paths to gank ADC. Now you just have two same warding spots and you know youre most likely going over a ward every time you gank.

Somethings to quickly note The S4 map you're referring to is the S2 map. The imps weren't introduced until S3 iirc and they carried speed buff, but they were removed by season 4 once they changed the timers and introduced other things like the Portal Demon. The S2 map also looked way better than the S1 map, it was basically the best iteration of what the S1 map tried to be and the realism style they were going for back then. S5 was an improvement in terms it was the first map where the jungle did not split every other wave with the mid laner or solo laner. It's also the same 3 seasons they introduced the new gold furies. The imps were gone long before the release of the S5 map. great video, overall my opinion is S tier: s8 map, s10 map A tier: s5 map B tier: s2 map C tier: s1 map F tier: every other map S9 was basically the same as S8 in terms of the map, but it was the worst iteration of it. I'd put that in A tier tbh.

also, I disagree with the end. In the current iteration of the map, there's a lot more to fight for early. The neutrals being that deep in the side makes it so junglers have more gank potential - especially with the current ttk. I think right now, or s8 has to be my favorite iteration of the conquest map. I do agree there's many buffs on the map and that kinda encourages pve, but it makes players think more "i.e., should I hyperfarm, skip this buff and gank left lane, etc" in a sense, I understand what you're saying that farm is very valuable, and even with the current ttk if someone gets 3 kills and you're hyper farming, invading, etc -- they're going to use their CDs killing others, they'll have a bounty, and you can easily catch them off guard and gain a lead on them. But, ganking also kinda makes it so your side lanes are ahead. Complicated topic tbh more choices = better in my mind

I loved season 1 map. I loathed season 5 map until i stopped playing and started on the map that in now. Never played season 8 or 9, busy ass maps look like a farcry map.

Generally, seasons 7-9 where Smites PEAK. The most fun. Smite as a game was at its best from 7-9. With the launch of season 10 and through 11 until the nerfed 9.5 proved it.
