Are you kidding? They're not gone. They will have a place in Pokemon Home. Also, even if there WAS a National Dex in tthe game, these Pokemon would'vn't be in SWSH until February. In February, they will have things to do in Home instead of sitting uselessly in your box in SWSH. I say uselessly because National Dexxers claim they don't want to be allowed to use the Pokemon not in Galar in bonline battles, just for them to be in the game. Arabella Grethey sure, but there is always a better way. Again, Dragon Quest XI does it very well. You fight when you want to. Not to mention that this system would work even better for Pokémon because Pokémon is EASY as hell and it’s getting easier every game. Removing random encounters would allow for veterans to challenge themselves by staying low-leveled, and it would still let newer players grind whenever they want to. But, that would require some creative thinking and GF is obviously tied up with making curry or whatever.

I've seen a couple of people saying that "if your favorite pokemon isn't in the game, just find a new favorite" The problem isn't that certian pokemon made it in while others didn't, it the fact that they removed more than half of the pokemon in the game for no reason other than laziness. The fact is, every pokemon is someone's favorite, and removing any of them baisclly throws the whole point of the game to me away. And for a lot of people, they don't want to play through every gme with the same team, like I've seen a lot of people saying. The fact that those pokemon arent available, and might not be for some time, is the reason. People might not be able to bring across their first pokemon, of their favorite shiny, or the first perfect IV pokemon they ever got, because game freak decided to be lazy. And even if people want to play with the same team they've had for a long time, what's wrong with that? Everyone should be allowed to play the way they want to, but this arbitrary dex cut makes that impossible for a large group of people.

Except the dex cut isn't arbitrary, you can't just say "port them in it'll take 2 seconds" because it won't, porting them in means making index numbers for them, porting their stats, their evo methods, their movesets, their learnsets, their tutor sets, and any unique abilities (like Multitype and RKS system) and any interactions that may be present with them (being unable to knockoff megas, z crystals, multitypers), it's to cut down on unnecessary dev time, not to piss everyone off

The spirit of the idea of collecting is still very much prevalent in the games and it's not because a Pokédex exists, but rather they still sell 2 versions of the game. The original selling point for 2 versions was the different Pokémon in each. You were incentivised to trade with *cough* buy *cough* the other game to complete the Pokédex and as such your collection. They further entrenched this notion into their game-making philosophy when they made version-specific legendaries. Without all of the Pokemon included in the game, I see no reason to have 2 different versions with different Pokémon and 2 different legendaries other than money (if they didn't want you to buy both, they wouldn't sell them in a convenient double pack). The gyms aren't an adequate difference. With how easy they have made the games, the fights last 5 minutes. We have also seen that the gyms seem to be football fields with no thematic difference to make them really unique. I'm not even unhappy that Pokémon have been removed. I don't care. I will, however, criticise the fact that they don't want you collecting every Pokémon, but do want you to want the ones you don't have enough that you'll give them money so as to be able to collect them.

@@YujiUedaFan Actually no, the amount is 400, and there are currently 809 Pokemon total. They haven't accounted for mythicals yet, so it will probably be exactly half.

@@Azure1013 That 400 includes new Pokémon. At best, they're cutting 469, if all the old Mythical Pokémon are in slots 401 to 421. So it's still more than half.
