Such a shame that Mario didn't have full sentences like in the original. That would been a perfect way to cap off Charles Martinet's run by letting him go all out.

Nintendo tried to make Mario and the Toads more affectionate in the remake, while in the original they actually laughed and DK had a reason to get angry and take them. Further on, the Toads stepped on DK's hand to make him fall. Here they just stare and jump in surprise (also Mario tries to save him). But Nintendo also removed scenes like Mario asking if Donkey Kong is okay, or DK crying and Mario saying "It's okay (used line) don't cry! (the rest of the phrase not used)". It has lost some of the charm of the original. I even understand some changes but others I wonder why. There isn't even Mario saying long phrases, or an "ihaaa", saying that "it's time for the credits" "Ah Charles Martinet, nice Italian boy". The impact when throwing things at DK and even the robot seems simpler. And the game internally had animations such as: Mario burning when Falls in lava or fire. The new game is very good! But it is not faithful and does not give the same experience exactly or completely as the original. The new Super Mario RPG was a remake that I thought would go through several changes like these, but I was wrong! The game manages to be much more faithful to the original than Mario vs. Donkey Kong. And both games bring extra content. Another thing is the removal of scores, modern, but the fact that in the old one you could make new score records made it useful. Mario stoned when he falls from a high place was also a really cool reference to the arcade Donkey Kong (the fact that he gets hurt when he falls). Anyway cool game.

Sadly, for whatever reason, some of Mario's more memorable lines from the original don't return. Like "Oh yeah, it's all you, baby!" "Here we go again, again!" "Come back here, you big monkey!" and especially the angry Italian rant. His cute commentary on the end credits where he gives shout-outs to Miyamoto and Martinet is also sadly missing in action. Let's have a moment of silence for what we have lost along the way...at least the animation is infinitely better in these cutscenes...because the original was still images!

@AEASMovie Yeah actually! I do miss DK crying. I do miss Mario, Mini Marios and the Toads laughing at DK! I do miss Mario saying "Oooooh you mama mia -Italian words-" and so many more things in the cutscenes! I really liked it.

I didn't play the original but saw the comparision with the remake, and yes: though some scenes have got big changes it's really nice to see Mario and others symphatize with DK. He just wanted a mini mario

As neat as these graphics are, there's a few important things missing: Mario's full sentences, his angry Italian rant at the end of the game, and his commentary and shout-outs during the credits. Also DK is pouting instead of sobbing.

They made small mistakes with the minis. 2:32 DK kidnaps 5 Minis, 2:45 Mario rescues 6 Minis, 2:53 Mario gives 1 to DK and in the background are still 6 Minis

One of the best parts about this game was these cutscenes. And they completely butchered them... A good remake is supposed to be a better version of the original and not worse in any aspect, I'm dissapointed.

1:47 There's a small scene missing where he falls before the normal credits start. Here it is the post-credits return. You can tell that DK was waiting to return to continue acting. As if it were going to intermission on a TV show.

This remake feels like it takes away A lot of the cruelty that was in the original. Like Mario and the toads laughing at DK for being stupid and DKs horrifying blood curtailing scream after you defeat him in the final boss fight and I kind of miss the more cruel stuff honestly. This remake feels a lot more sanitized

I agree. Not to mention when you beat DK for the first time in the original, the toads stomped on his hand for revenge before he fell. I feel like the more mean-spirited elements of the the original made the ending more impactful. Like when DK landed on the truck, Mario asked if he was ok and thats not present here. This really does feel sanitized and takes a bit of the charm out of it.

Is kind of dissapointing that Mario and the toads aren't allowed to make mistakes (laughing at DK) and get consequences from behaving bad (said Toads being kidnapped by an infuirated DK as result of their mockery, thus prolonging the adventure) anymore.

Voice acting in the original game was way better it had more personality and in the switch all Mario says is hey wait hold on in the original they laugh at dk it gave the characters personality the newer animations do look nicer though

Kinda sad they didn't keep Mario and Toads laughing at DK for the empty bag but i don't why they didn't keep Dk crying part in his defeat he looks like he beaten but still got his pride and try not to cry. Also i can't believe they didn't keep Mario line of "Hey come back here you big monkey" and "Hey come back here you".

This cutscene lost its charm in the remake. It's supposed to resemble the first one where they laughed at DK because he had no toys left, the twist being this time he does, but here they don't laugh at him anymore so it just looks very awkward, like why stop there and take them out if you were going to keep running anyways? They should have kept the mean spirited humor from the original.
