Nintendo: "So as you know, over here we have strict rules and policies to ensure that our games are family friendly, so you can't show any blood are we clear?" Arsys: "Understood" Nintendo: "Good." Arsys: "By the way for this port we're thinking of adding 10 more levels and we've come up with this fire based area with flame traps that immolate the player, is that okay?" Nintendo: "Sounds good." As a side note I do think the SNES is the best version of the game to get, it doesn't have any shortcomings excluding people who might have liked the blood, though I've gotta say I love the gritty atmosphere in the NEC version, and although a lot of versions have good music let's just remember that the original Prince of Persia had no music at all, so it's always a nice added bonus to these versions.

Nintendo had such a big grip on the console market that companies had to keep things censored. That way, if their games actually were good on the PC, They wouldnt have to tone down graphic images to appease Nintendo. Nintendo didnt care how good a game was on computers or what the game was called on other computers, you had to conform to their standards to get them to manufacture the game for you on their console. Actually, if you originally designed a game on the NES, you couldnt release it onto other systems for 2 years as part of the licensing agreement. Actually, if you want to see blood in early games, play Castle Wolfenstein or Forbidden Forest (games released before the NES came here).
