What ending did you get when you finished this game for the first time? Comment below!

I got the Neutral-Lawful ending. I always thought you needed Ankiseth and all the Zenobians to get the golden ending. I am surprised Chaos Frame is the defining factor on all the endings. I mean, it is always important on all Ogre Battle games, but here it seems to be the absolute variable for the endings. Still, this is my favorite Ogre Battle game. Thank you so much for all your work and sharing the wisdom, Astromancer!

@@GamerGarm I also found it uninspiring to resort to Chaos Frame only for the best endings, especially considering the past game, MOTBQ, which had INSANE requirements for the best ending. But it's a brilliant game, and thanks for the feedback!

I got the Neutral ending. Recruited Saradin and Aisha.

My first playthough was a disaster. I would have ended with the chaotic ending but my army was so freaking terrible that I got stuck in the eastern region (farthest I got was the branching path to where you could fight Biske, go rescue Europea or go get Paul). That's what I get for listening to the game when it comes to army building (oh, Cleric +2 golems are so great for defense!... Yeah, right, and no offense). Plus I didn't know how soldiers worked. I gave up and started over, though in hindsight, I probably could have salvaged it if I still had that save file and the knowledge I have now (though I'd be relying on beasts mostly). My first proper clear was a neutral chaotic end. I didn't know anything about liberation and ALL of my units were max lawful alignment units.

I received the Neutral Lawful ending with a Chaos Frame of 36. Even though my first play through was blind, I thought I was on my way to a very is a very good ending. I had acquired both Saradin and Aisha. I made peace with the Western Division. I did find it a little weird that the other Zenobians had not joined me, but I chalked it up to them not being recruitable. So imagine my surprise after all that we're playing this game that not only was there an invisible reputation meter, but that I only got a 36! Obviously after this I decided to look at GameFAQs and see what I did wrong. I'm very surprised at that the Chaos Frame range for the Neutral-Lawful ending goes down as far as it does. I guess this was done because they knew having an invisible meter would make it harder to game it. It didn't help my reputation, though, that I was still playing by MotBQ rules and having Lawful Alignment units landing on towns when possible, and I went to straight to the capital instead of dealing with the surrounding demons. (In my defense, I thought that liberating the capital would lessen the aggression in the countryside in a "cut off the head" type effect.)

These videos are highly appreciated! Even though it's not really important for which ending you want, since Chaos Frame is the biggest factor, I did want to note that Paul and Europea is a choice you have regardless of which ending you want. You get to pick one or the other: Europea comes with full unit and Paul's stage gives you access to a second Lich. Otherwise, you can still get any ending. 💜

I did some testing by beating this game many times. I remember that if you refuse Magnus's father offer to join your party after chapter 2 he will disappear until the end of chapter 4 and look for Yumil alone and Yumil will kill him. There is a special fight with king Procus instead of Yumil in this scenario, and if I remember correctly the other prince won't die after the castle siege but will die in a cutscene. Also if Dio leaves the party Xevec never betray the revolution lol! And contrary to popular beliefs, what determines if Dio leaves the party is not your dialog answers, but your chaos frame. Choosing the "wrong" option will lower it but you can increase it enough. If you don't recruit the first Zenobian (I think is the priest girl or Saradin) none of the others will join you even if your chaos frame is high. Also, on the stage where Saradin explains about the portals, if you don't have Saradin on the party is a "revolutionary archmage" who tells the story. I also remember that I manage to recruit Carth and get a good ending (Magnus became a general).
@TheSenhorcaioo2 ай бұрын
And last, I think that if you don't recruit Magnus father and choose to fight Biske but have a high chaos frame, he won't die after the fight.

The Low end Chaos Route where Rashidi gets reborn, sets up the next Ogre Battle perfectly in my opinion. The reason he died in the first one was because he didn't really have the godly power to open chaos gates but now that he has a godly body he can open gates to the netherworld and start the Ogre battle setting up a final battle scenario.

My first playthrough I got the bad ending. Like most people I didn't know liberation/capturing was a thing -- made all the right choices which kept my CF too high for Carth/Biske, but by the end it caught up with me. Also, the sixth ending (play 90% of the game high CF but tank it with Destin in your party) is an especially cool Easter egg. It's functionally the same as Neutral-Chaotic, but the context is much more intriguing and does more justice to Magnus's character.

Its perfectly possible to recruit Paul no matter what you do. You just have to play his stage and visit two villages. I do believe he's the only recruitment where the correct answer is the second dialogue option though, IIRC. I've definitely had Paul on a team with the Zenobians before (though the more relevant factor is honestly the second Lich). I've also recruited Ankiseth and Carth in one run. I don't actually remember how though and sources still seem to disagree on what the requirements for each of these characters are.
@DevilKillerJCS2 жыл бұрын
From personal experience, it's impossible. To get Ankiseth, you MUST say "I can't do it" at Fredrick's execution then make peace with the Western Division. To get Carth, you MUST say "..." at Fredrick's execution. The only way to have Carth and Ankiseth is to cheat. Some people say you need a low chaos frame to get Carth but it's not true. I've tried that on the so called "lawful" route (the "I can't do it" route). Carth won't join no matter what. Even if you refuse to recruit the Zenobians or discharge all of them, he still leaves. If you're on the other route he joins regardless of your chaos frame and Ankiseth will never join.
@ogrebattle64net542 жыл бұрын
@@DevilKillerJCS It sounds like I may need to do some additional testing of whether or not the Chaos Frame requirement is legit (most sources say Chaos Frame must be 29 or lower for Carth). I know it works with low Chaos Frame, but I have not tested it personally with high Chaos Frame. I will have to work to reconfirm this as well, but I believe Ankiseth and Carth is also possible. I have never heard of "..." as a requirement for Carth. Just no Zenobians and low Chaos Frame. However, it is also true that we have a lot of different information around the community and some of the recruitment details are still confusing. It's perfectly possible that there's some weird scenario where you need low CF if you says "I can't do it." but CF is not important if you said "...". I'll just have to do more testing to prove it once and for all! 👍
@DevilKillerJCS2 жыл бұрын
@@ogrebattle64net54 Yeah, there is a lot of conflicting info out there. Either there's different versions of the game released or so many different people got their facts so messed up that it's impossible to know for sure. I'm going from my own personal experience here (played the game for idk how many hours; I lost count, it's a LOT, I can tell you that). I've never been able to get Carth on my team on the "I can't do it" route. Low chaos frame, avoiding the Zenobians/Discharging them, nothing. But I always get Carth on the "..." route, regardless of chaos frame. Granted, you can't tell where your chaos frame is at any given time but I always liberate everything after getting Sheen (which does require a lowish CF), since low CF no longer matters on the "..." route after that. It has to be maxed when I get to Carth on that route.
@WarrenReport2 жыл бұрын
I'm with @DevilKillerJCS on this one. From my in-game tests I couldn't recruit them at the same time without cheating. But if there is any way please let us know here and I'll remake the video. The important thing is to be correct. Ogre Battle is so complex that we are always learning something new about it.
@cheesedude-ygo2 жыл бұрын
There are two options if its possible: Either Ankiseth can still be recruited if you say "..." or Carth only requires no Zenobians, meaning you can decline to recruit Saradin and simply bypass the town of Puld in Audvera Heights (or skip that map altogether if you really want to be sure). I distinctly recall talk on GameFAQs message boards over a decade ago that Carth and Biske have different requirements - Biske won't join you if a Zenobian even asks to join you, meaning "..." would be a hard requirement for him. Again, I swear I did this once, but it would have been something like 15 years ago and I simply don't remember how I did it. There is always the possibility I am simply misremembering. At the least, its something I'd like to test out myself again when I get around to playing again.
