At one point in 1897 the Japanese actually had a debate to sell Taiwan to France for 100 million yen due to some considering Taiwan not worth having because of the bad economy at the start of the rule and the resources spent to put down numerous uprisings, but it was eventually decided against. @school is bad Indeed the ROC had claimed the whole Qing in 1911, but not Taiwan itself.(Japan take over Taiwan in First Sino-Japanese War, ROC only claim it after WW2). To some people in ROC, they tend to believe ROC occupy Taiwan and Penghu instead of ROC have the right to claim these lands. As such for now, there are some amount of voices prefer separate from ROC(aka Taiwan independence movement, you can refer to wiki to know more)

Not only does that go against the ROC constitution, but that would result in an increased British influence in China, something the Chinese people would never agree to considering the aftermaths of the Opium Wars. Remember that ROC's official territorial claim is not really taken seriously by its own people or government. On to the part about Tibet and Chiang, it's totally possible that he will still claim Tibet, and Tibetans will still be treated as second-class citizens. But there is also the fact that the KMT regime rely on US support, especially since that had KMT won the civil war, China will be the first line of defense against USSR, the importance of Western support will be even greater. So it's also possible that given enough pressure, Tibet can be independent at last.

As a Taiwanese, I like this video so much! However, I personally think that the ultimate good ending might not be as ideal as we imagine, seeing that the ROC was so corrupted and had been practicing authoritarianism back in 1950. I'd like to point out that ROC government today has already recognize Mongolia as a country in practice. As for constitution...people in Taiwan have stopped taking that joke seriously for quite some time now. There is also the fact that some articles in ROC constitution is overwritten by the Additional Articles of the Constitution of the Republic of China in effect. (Basically we can say that Taiwan has two constitutions)

Actually if Taiwan was ruled by CCP while Mainland was ruled by KMT, CCP will be dependent with Warsaw Pact, but after the Collapse of USSR, Taiwan will start De-Sinification and became Independent, or Taiwan will join With ROC. If they survived after the Collapse of USSR, They will reform as Capitalist-Semi Democratic government and both of them will be recognised by UN
