Good morning Jimmy. Yes sir you surely put in the effort and labor on that ranger. Although the owner is spending a ton on it, it will still be way cheaper than a new one. Hope you have a great day.

Nice job on the Ranger, at least it wasn’t a 4.0 four wheel drive like my grandson’s. If I need to do the same work on it that engine is coming out. Have a great day.

Jimmy, you should edit these Ranger videos into a specific video about replacing those seals. I bet you would get a good response from DIY guys wanting to fix these leaks themselves and not wanting to pay 30 hours labor to a shop.

I just might do that for my vacation week coming up in a month. :)

It could be that when a manufacturer claims to have triple tested a product, it may have failed the first two tests. If it failed the third time, but worked on the fourth, I'm sure they have a sticker for, "Quadruple Tested". Lol gravity checking into the tub of coolant.

Torqued at 249 KZbin foot-pounds. Must have had blue silicone on the checkout lanes at Wal-Mart next to the nail clippers and candy bars. Did you reinstall the same water pump and thermostat?

Hey Jimmy, I'm putting a new starter on today, On the old starter the big bare braided wire from the solenoid to the starter motor, corroded away. Would it be worthwhile to put just the light coating of some kind of Grease on the cable to thwart corrosion? Or is there nothing that would work like that, and nothing to worry about since the starter will now probably last the life of the rest of the car.
@JimmyMakingitwork9 ай бұрын
It depends on how bad the corrosion is, if the cable is puffing up I try and clean it with battery terminal cleaner or similar and preshrink wrap it if possible. Sometimes they need to be replaced. Minor corrosion or discoloration shouldn’t be an issue.

I do believe on day 1 you had mentioned pulling the engine and doing engine reseal.
@JimmyMakingitwork9 ай бұрын
Yeah, if they had done it that way as I asked, I would have. But instead we added one more repair at a time. But it’s all good, we made it work!

Looking at service data for rear axle bolts and calipers bolts they say discard them. I get the impression Bob Jr’s justifying his value to the company by generating parts sales with these specifications. Critical engine components with torque to yield bolts I would agree, what’s your opinion Mr. Jimmy.
@JimmyMakingitwork9 ай бұрын
Yeah, most torque to yield bolts should be replaced. I specially critical fasteners like internal engine. But they can also be checked for stretch with a straight edge. Some Manufacturers have you do that actually.
