neo-gonzo journalism I would say - he is the descendant of legends like hunter s. thompson who excelled at immersing himself in the story and genuinely making a connection with his subjects (read: hell's angels), unlike social anthropology which would aim to study a subject through a lens of different morals and cultural norms. Andrew immerses himself in the situation and doesn't mock or deride his interviewees, he just let's them feel like they have a platform.

Well we don’t know the full story. Besides from what I’ve seen antifa are much more prone to unprovoked violence towards vulnerable individuals. The problem - at least the way I see it, is exactly this division among people. They separate themselves in specific groups sometimes following the herd blindly and more often than not petty things are blown out of proportion and meanwhile the truly important stuff is set aside. I think that one of the main things that modern society is lacking and is in desperate need is empathy and being able to forgive. Sorry I know I am basically rambling now its just that the problems we are facing are caused by a multitude of little things all linked together and triggering each other and I find it difficult to discuss the issue without mentioning all of them. One of the points I want to make tho is that I find it counterproductive to point fingers and create even more strain between people accusing a particular group of people regardless of the fact if they were in the wrong when at the same time the opposing side is doing the same things despite upholding totally different beliefs and ideas. I guess I should mention that I am not from the US but sometimes I think its important to hear opinion from someone who is watching from the side and is unbiased. Besides the same type of issues are being manifested in every part of the world but just take a slightly different shape or form. Stay safe and strong and keep your head up!
@David-gr1do4 жыл бұрын
@@isellcrack3537 look into the roots of the proud boys. it’s not difficult to believe that they’re prone to violence. and what exactly did you mean by “we don’t know the full story?” I find it difficult to believe that reporters like that skinny 5 foot something girl posed a threat to these full grown men in body armor. they’re no strangers to ganging up on helpless women, either.

@@Dimmster I don’t know anything about the Proud Boys. Im judging based on their counterparts as well as Antifas that we have where I live. Yea - hooligans are a$$holes but antifa loves to send people just like the kid in the video - the least intimidating looking and seemingly innocent. They purposely provoke violence in order to manipulate the image of both sides in the public eyes. The point I wanted to make is that both sides are equally bad, shitty and unnecessary.

Alot of people dream about taking vacation in a foreign country and have barely seen the US outside of their home state. I think this podcast is better bc the guest happens to be a professional comedian whose schtick is literally interviewing awkward people. At some points in this convo when Ethan gets weird or there's a lull, you can tell the guest takes the lead & starts interviewing Ethan: "So where'd you grow up?" "Where do you guys live in Cali - I'm looking for a place to rent an apt?" etc
@nicholasmaniccia10054 жыл бұрын
alternative theory, Ethan has stopped caring so much about all the people who keep listening despite how much they claim it's cringe and awkward, and he just does the show.
@stevenb38544 жыл бұрын
It helps a lot that Andrew is a professional conversationalist, he's an interviewer's wet dream. Ethan is definitely on form in this interview though regardless of Andrew's charisma and I hope that he continues in this direction and doesn't relapse to his awkward self-important style that was rampant for far too long in his podcasts. Let's keep it going Ethan & Hila

Really fun guest, but the difference in interview style from the early episodes to now is so crazy. A lot more on topic and in the moment discussion, Hila jumps in with interesting questions, you're both listening well but not relying on the guest to lead the conversation and provide all of the entertainment. Progress deserves respect

@@leedave9314 I mean, at the most basic level, it's no different from cosplay. It's like a swimming pool, you can get in the shallow end, up to your knees, where people(furries) are just having a good time and socializing in their weird niche community. Then you can wade a little deeper, past your waist, you start seeing the fetish/hyper-sexual side of the culture. Once you're up to your neck, it's full on depravity and mental illness/sex addiction. People literally doing heroin and shitting and cumming in their fursuits. Things that make you want to bleach your fucking brain. I'm inclined to believe MOST people are in the shallow end, but after being on the internet for 20 years, it's hard to forget what goes on in the deep-end. Got a strong 'kill it with fire' bias myself, ngl.

jmb_rgb that is a completely naive thing to say. So do men. People are attracted to power. That said, I don’t think everyone is focused on those things. I don’t particularly care about those things. I’m much more concerned with personality. I think it just so happens that a lot of confident people tend to end up famous and are subsequently attractive. Confidence is the stronger factor I think... real confidence not like weird pickup artist bullshit.
