about 10 years ago i worked at a Papa Johns, and Papa John was coming to town to meet the chain of franchises in the PNW. A few people from each store drove down to the corporate office to take a photo with him, he introduced himself to everyone. Hours later, back at work, he showed up to the store for a tour and he remembered everyone's name from earlier that day, was very cool and really crushed it as far as his image goes to an hourly worker.

You can tell from the way Papa John's attitude was during the whole interview that he is seriously a great, humble, caring, and down to earth guy. I personally never thought the way he portrayed himself in the commercials is, in actuality, who he really is but watching this interview proves that I was 100% wrong. He keeps everything upbeat, answers Ethan and Hila's questions to the best of his ability, and was able to keep his cool even through Ethan cutting him off mid-sentence and asking repeating / revealing questions that may have not been appropriate. I'm glad Papa John took the opportunity to be on this podcast with one of his biggest fans and had this as an outlet for information that he felt the public needed to hear. Side note: I agree that Ethan should have stopped cutting John off during the interview but I can't help but feel he may have been star struck. This may be the reason why he couldn't just let the man talk. In any case, Papa Bless!

Papa actually came off like a genuine person. Was literally shocked. I thought he was going to be either A. Crazy or B. An ignorant jerk. But he ended up being a coherent/ reserved guy who seems to passionately care about pizza and his company. I also don’t think it’s a money issue, because he has more then he knows what to do with for the rest of his life. And he still owns a substantial % or the company. I looked him up after the podcast, and there is a ton of stories of franchise owners and employees of the company for decades - who said he was a caring person. I feel like his comments on Obamacare are everything wrong with this country. A person is allowed to have a disagreement about political issues - and it doesn’t make them a monster. Guess what? Some of Papas concerns with Obamacare ended up becoming true. But even if you think he was wrong - it didn’t mean he was an uncaring jerk or some right wing lunatic. Also if you just look at the facts - this comes off as corporate sabotage. The dude was illegally recorded in a private meeting - where what he said was taken out of context (I do get why some still take issue with him just saying the word and that’s totally valid) - but it was still outside of context. Which means whoever recorded him, did so for either political reasons (like retaliation because of his opinions on Obamacare). Or because someone wanted him off the board of the company so they could get control. Either way, he was wronged. Regardless if you like Papa.

Ethan I love the podcast but here is some constructive criticism. I know you are used to filling dead air a lot when it's just you and Hila but you should try to take a page from Joe Rogan when doing an interview. Whenever your guest is speaking or in the middle of a thought you should remain quite and let them fully develop their idea unless they are going way too far off on a tangent. Pretty often it felt like you were quick to cut papa off in the middle of his idea to the point where he had to ask to finish his thought. 1:12:08 Ethan, I love ya...a guest shouldn't have to suggest to the HOST OF THE SHOW to take a break while you adjust your equipment. Additionally, you could make an effort to better gauge how visibly uncomfortable some of your questions make guests feel and behave. While I understand riskier questions make for more interesting conversation, you have a habit of asking very personal or inappropriate questions that are unnecessary, lead nowhere, and result in an awkward silence. Prying a VISIBLY UNCOMFORTABLE man about the details of his divorce (which he stated himself was only FOUR MONTHS AGO, DUDE) and continuing to pry about his love life isn't cutting edge, provocative content. Its some tabloid bullshit. Its petty, nobody's business but his own, and you don't need to stoop that low to engage people, man! You're so much better than that. I know all these comments presenting various criticisms can come off as nitpicks, but you've been running this podcast for a few years now, and for the sake of both your fans who love you, as well as the guests who have to interact with you, you neeeeeed to work on these issues. We all love you and we all want to see you succeed, but as your podcast moves forward you need to grow and adapt with it.

@@winstonforman ugh cringe bro. She didn't come here to have dudes make desperate attempts at hitting on her bc she is a beautiful woman. Jesus. Men will really stop at NOTHING. I hope you're joking bc no self respecting woman would just give her number out to fucking rando on the internet. Creeper.
