The bit about killing the wolf pisses me off. I spent my summers living in a one room log cabin in the wood until I was 15. The local wolf pack would come and sniff around the cabin every evening at sundown. They didn't bother us and we didn't bother them. They were just curious about who was there. One night grandpa went to the outhouse in the middle of the night and when he was ready to come back, saw the wolves on the lawn between him and the cabin. He closed the door made himself comfortable and went to sleep. Had an interesting story to tell in the morning.

would be interesting to measure accuracy of the gun fired in vacuum. As the bullet spins due to the rifling asit leaves the barrel, and spinning in the air stabilizes the trajectory. does theone in vacuum behave differently?
@hieronymusnervig8712
@hieronymusnervig8712 17 сағат бұрын
Air IS the reason it needs to be stabilised in the first place. If it rotates in a random direction, the magnus effect makes it curve like a spinning football. In a vacuum, the bullet will basically travel exactly where you want it to, with the only inaccuracies coming from bad aim or the barrel itself. Which is actually why laser weapons probably wouldn't be used in space combat. You can just accelerate a piece of metal really fast and easily hit something at a range where a laser beam would light up the area of a footballfield rather than a precise point.

I wonder if the -273° of actual space vacuum would make any difference
@bueb8674
@bueb8674 3 ай бұрын
Well for starters, Cody'sLab video: Will Gunpowder Burn In Liquid Nitrogen? (cold gun part 2) shows gunpwder burns at least down to Ln2 temp. And note that -273 only applies for extended time in darkness, slowly losing heat solely by radiative cooling. In sunlight things in space still get quite hot, it's worse than on Earth since the vacuum insulates and the sunlight is more intense. ISS needs giant radiators for this exact reason
@WukongTheMonkeyKing
@WukongTheMonkeyKing 13 күн бұрын
On the outside of the ISS, the temp is between 120°C in the sun, and -160°C in the dark.

unfortunatelly it's not a very good vacuum as you can basically still hear all the noises produced inside it - which means there is plenty of medium to carry sound waves - so not sure how representative this test is - would be interesting to try a more real vacuum .. For testing purposes they could've also just replaced the oxigon with CO2 or any other heavier gas to displave the O2 first .. but I guess there is simply enough o2 trapped inside the bullet to trigger it anyway .. noone would try to fill a bullet under vaccuum I guess to get it rid of that :-)

The bullets coming out of the curved barrels are clearly immediately tumbling in the direction of the bend, making them significantly less accurate and less powerful over a distance, making the use of a gun kind of redundant. They should have taken them to a range to aim at distant targets, instead of just proving they fire and impact at point blank range.

that isn't a perfect vacuum so it nulls the whole experiment, perhaps if they had used some inert gas and then pulled their weak vacuum, the results would be completely different. Edit: but then again the bullets go off underneath oil so idk there must be an oxidizer of some sort added to the modern gunpower then right?
@Elcarsh
@Elcarsh 3 ай бұрын
Not just modern smokeless powder, all gunpowder. It contains its own source of oxygen. It doesn't take oxygen from the surrounding air. The idea that a lack of air in a vacuum would be a problem is the result of some poor research on their part.

My major issue with Kari in this, is her grip. Lol!!!! Go back to your armchair "expertise" and COD. Tori and Grant 100%? PMSL!!!!!! I'll posit that you have never fired a wepaon in your life and probably a snotty teenager who thinks he knows everything. Oh and Mr Seagal, Grant also flags himself and Tori flags the cameraman. Perhaps you should actually look before you comment and make yourself look like the Brobdingnagian bellend that you obviously are. Yes all firearms should be treated as loaded, however you really are making a mountain out of a mole hill on this one and ignored a number of other violations. All need to show more care, as this practice could carry over into a weapon that is loaded. Whilst it appears she flags his foot, Tori has no awareness of the others at times or indeed himiself and moves himself into the direction of the muzzle. You're not only responsible for yourself, but need to be aware of others around you, so you could argue all are at fault in some way. Good day to you and enjoy whatever you're smoking. Now go and get some real training in firearms.
