All Hail, Liberia, Hail!" is the national anthem of Liberia, lyrics written by President Daniel Bashiel Warner (1815-1880, 3rd president of Liberia) in English, and music by Olmstead Luca (1826-1869). It became the official national anthem in 1847.

I used to listen to elwa on a radio my father bought for six American dollars on the 25 meter shortwave band. ELWA was the first African station I heard that broadcast the Good news of Jesus Christ. That was back on1960. They sent me a neat postcard Being a born again Christian,hearing elwa was a thrill for me. I was 11 years old at the time Since then your country has a special place in my heart GOD BLESS LIBERIA

Correction: “Though new her name, grain (not green or great either) be her fame.” At the time this song was written, Liberia was known as the ‘Grain Coast’ because she was rich in grain. Much as Ghana was known as the ’Gold Coast.’
