In an interview, one of Elvis' ontourage, said that before one of his shows, E was in really bad shape and not feeling well and he went to Mr Parker about it and he said in a very direct and authoritive tone "The most important thing is that that man(E) goes on stage tonight, Nothing else matters.." .. End of discussion...

Many performers would not put themselves out there in such a condition, but Elvis loved his fans and always wanted to give them a good show. I give him crazy credit for still doing it, I have to think he knew his days were numbered - so damn sad he couldnt have had a better manager and a less stressful life. You can tell from the fans response they were not judging him, they loved him just the same, just look at how many people showed up to see him and girls still going bonzo even though hes not at his best-!!. I was still in senior year of high school when he passed, I remember before I knew what happened girls in the hallways were crying like crazy and I found out. What a sad, sad day for the world. RIP ELVIS

During this time Elvis was going through the sickness of congestive heart failure. The fact were that at this point Elvis had an enlarged heart and he was not taking Blood Pressure medication. Through his last year the fluid would build up and cause what looked like a.major increase in weight. It was really fluids. I read a lot on this and actually read the medical report on him. Unfortunately an enlarged heart is what his.mother passed.away with at the same age. He was being treated for this but very little was known on it back then. You can clearly see it. But through it all he was the warrior and champion. True to himself and his fans.

I have listened to Elvis since 1956. I became friends with Charlie Hodge his confidant and best friend for 8years after Elvis died n he told me when he was living at Graceland he saw the human side of him. He told me that at this concert he was having asthma problems so they asked him is he wanted to shorten the show. EP said No I have to perform for my loving fans. Charlie told me alot of Elvis stories. I wished I had the opportunity to meet EP but knowing Charlie was the second best thing to happen to me. Charlie said he often sang HARMONY to help Elvis through songs esp Suspicious Minds at the end of song. He said Elvis was like a brother to him. You can see Charlie standing behind him. I loved every concert he did, That smile 😃. I miss Charlie very much. I bet Charlie would have loved your channel n the reactions you do. Seeing Charlie holding the microphone made me cry. Thank you for keeping Elvis music alive

That thumbnail is almost exactly how I was when that TV Special in October 1977 first aired. I had no idea how shocked and saddened I would be that they put him on display as if he were a circus sideshow attraction. I cried all over again, I was enraged - everything you can think of. I remember that I didn't go outside the next day. I don't remember if it was a school night or not, but whichever, I didn't go out of my room except to eat. I couldn't believe the cruelty to put this clearly very ill person on display. He did his best and at times, he caught a tailwind and knocked it out. But as a whole, it was cruelty and greed. And then after the TV show, they made his father give that last message. I don't care if he wanted to "thank the fans for their messages," it was just more cruelty. This may be Indianapolis? I don't know. Doesn't matter. I can't believe they made it into a TV Special. They saw he was at the end with no real treatment. They knew he would die soon. And they knew that would increase the ratings and record sales/airplay. His life meant nothing to RCA, CBS, "Col. Parker," other promoters, etc. No one stepped in to say "please don't do this to him." If this disturbs anyone, then maybe you're somewhat younger or you just don't feel what I felt. Everyone is different. My feelings in 1977 were valid then when I was a kid, and they are valid now. They are MY feelings. 💔 What I felt was overwhelming as a teen fan. It was hard to believe they taped it professionally. I can't even imagine what HE felt, knowing this was going to be on television. He never lived long enough to see it. 🙏 😭 It's not a question of his abilities. He never lost them. His 1976 studio version of "Danny Boy" is considered by musicologists (who often specialize in the Londonderry Air) to be the BEST RECORDED VERSION IN THE HISTORY OF RECORDED MUSIC. There are thousands of versions. And they are RIGHT. A year before he died: another masterpiece. I also feel that way about his youthful version of "Silent Night." It is a true masterpiece and a work of genius. It's the gentleness of the phrasing of the ancient Christmas carol. Even agnostics (or even stone cold atheists!) FEEL LIKE THEY'RE IN THE MANGER with the Holy Family and Elvis softly, delicately singing "Silent Night" over the Holy Infant. And Old Man 😉, it's like the line in Marc Cohn's "Walkin' In Memphis," "Are you a Christian, child?" Mark answers, " ma'am I AM TONIGHT!" And so please understand: it's that I saw the show on TV while I was a teenager. I didn't know that he looked so ill. I was angry at Parker, the other promoters,CBS-TV, ALL OF 'EM for using and displaying him for their own greed. THEY HAD NO HEART! And then they pulled his grieving father out to display his incomprehensible grief to the whole nation - or further. Vernon, his daddy, was crushed and could hardly speak the words "the passing of my son, Elvis." As weak as he was, he wanted everyone to know "this is MY personal grief, not yours. I am 61 years old and I lost my only child who brought joy to our lives from the moment he was born alive AFTER his twin died at birth." He was a gift, a miracle child because she couldn't carry to term otherwise. And aside from his sad little granddaughter, he lost all reason for living. 22 months after losing his son, Vernon died. The day Elvis died, Vernon kept repeating "my baby is dead." And yet for the TV Special, he had to reveal his grief. He couldn't even have any privacy. All because of greedy promoters and CBS, who KNEW exactly what they were taping. That's why I feel so tore up. And yeah, he was a great guy! You can take that to the bank.

Elvis had many serious health problems, one being a genetic heart problem. This show was in June 19,1977, he died Aug 16, 1977. He did not die from drug addiction. People believing all the rumors, did not know Elvis at all. Was he perfect? no. But he was one of the most giving, caring people that ever lived. He is very ill only weeks from death but out there fulfilling his tour date for his fans. That's only one reason he was and will forever be The King.

That's very true, he had an enlarged heart and also blocked arteries from the cholesterol that had built up from all the years of his southern diet. There were 4 different autopsies done in different places and states. They all agreed that there were traced of different drugs but nothing that would kill him. He also had a twisted colon, that had 4foot of clay like substance because he had a problem deficating. That and the water retention caused the bloating that made people think he was fat. He was a bit overweight, but nothing like it looked. He had a lot of health issues and really needed time off but with the poor manager decisions and all the people and families he was supporting he couldn't quit working.

We need more love and togetherness today than ever… sending positive energy to all. Btw Elvis died not long after this show.

Check out that movie song I told you about City by night it' really is a great song it's so bluesy I know you're going to love it. Also check out some Frankie Valli they also are awesome , he's not Elvis Presley but he's still very good and different check out the four seasons Frankie Valli and the four seasons. Have a good day and thank you.

I appreciate Elvis for a number of reasons but this last concert it broke my heart - knowing all of his previous performances. Thank you posting but as a fan, this one really broke heart bc Elvis lost his way and deteriorated. Sad but true: Long Live The King!!

I just learned who really killed Elvis it was the colonel and his doctor people don't know how many concerts he did from 1970 to 1977 just in 77 alone he did a concert everyday sometimes two till he died he was beyond human no one else could have done it those two worn him down this man deserved so much better he was a great human being inside out enough said he still will remain my heart forever 💖

It wasn't his doctor,it was the doctors on the outside that prescribed all the opiods that got him hooked! When he'd be in the hospital, many times Dr Nick would find bottles of hundreds of pills and would get rid of them. The guys all said when Dr Nick was on your with him his health was alot better.

A great singer, a great career, and a really nice person. Too bad about the drugs and the Colonel.

It's so hard to watch this, i believe that Parker always looked at Elvis as his main attraction ''cash cow''...He was a frigin carney when Elvis met him, by the way, Parker knew that this young beautiful talent could make him( parker ) rich a lot faster than the main attraction that he was exploting at the carnival..He called it the dancing chicken ...The bird was in a cage standing on a hay covered hot plate, so when the music started parker turned the hot plate on and the poor chicken would shuffle around trying to keep from burning its feet..."'The dancing chicken''...To me a full blown animal abuser and POS..I think he looked at Elvis as nothing more than a man dancing and singing on a stage w/a hot plate under it...The day Elvis passed, Parker already had papers ready to be signed, bringing them to Graceland demanding ''Vernon'' Elvis's dad to sign (i think) 50% of all proceeds of Elvis's estate..Vernon was so upset of losing his son, he did not understanding what he signed...The reason Elvis never could leave the states to do any shows in other countries is Tom Parker in his early years had emigrated illegally to the United States at the age of 20. He resided in the country without legal status..He claimed to be from West Virginia (he was actually Dutch)... He maneuvered himself to become Presley's sole representative..He turned down offers to allow Presley to tour overseas, probably due to his status as an illegal immigrant, which would have been exposed...Parker rarely saw him after his '68 come back, but continued in his management role until Presley's death in 1977. POS..I think Elvis had always knew Parker was a theif but Parker kept Elvis busy and evenually rundown , he figured ''why bother''? Elvis was wore out..Never the less, he was our king, and i think the best looking man God ever put on this earth...sorry, ty for letting me rant...
