At the latest Census, in the Indian state of Kerala there were 54.73% Hindu, 26.56% follow Islam, 18.38% Christian, and the remaining 0.33% were either Other or No religion. There are some beautiful Churches, both Catholic and Anglican, and even Synagogues in India. Throughout India Christianity is the third largest Faith. Without being political, many say that Christianity stems from earlier British presence but, that is incorrect. By far the biggest influence was Portugese. Christianity is widely followed in many Asian Countries. Just prior to Covid I spent some time in Myanmar (Burma) and there is a huge Catholic following. There is a massive Cathedral in Yangon (Rangoon) and, at a Sunday service I attended it was standing room only. There were thousands of Burmese people at that Mass and, it was regarded as just a normal Sunday congregation.

Sharada Shaffter was 80 years old when we recorded the Hymn in 2008. ( she is past 90 years and lives in Chennai India ). We wanted to recognise the veteran conductors of the city who toiled many years to train choirs . The quality of singing of the choirs are the hard work of ladies like her so wanted to recogine them. The arrangement of this hymn was picked by Sharada aunty.

I have never heard such a rendition and devotion. My very humble respects and regards to Auntie. Ernest Herman - Thanks for the feedback. Sharadha Schaffter is a seasoned Choir conductor who has invested much in training many choir singers . When we recorded this album in 2008 she was in her early 80s . Today is is in mid 90s . One of our purpose of doing these hymns was to recognise these senior conductors apart from making the hymns a blessing to many across the globe.
