This fascinating arrangement was written by the young (26) genius Norman Leyden, who was responsible for many of the AAF Orchestra's most lush performances. It was one of four songs that the orchestra recorded in hi-fi for a planned fund-raising campaign that for various reasons never materialized. Legal complications kept the originals from being released until the 1990s, so very few people alive during Maj. Miller's time never heard the tracks. Thank heavens we have them now! Interestingly, both of the two ballads that were part of the set show very little evidence of the classic "Miller Sound". He'd talked about moving in a different direction postwar, so perhaps this, along the vocal version of Stardust, are tantalizing hints of what might have been.
