This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. New York City is the best place in the world to start a business--if you know how to capitalize on the constant change that makes our city tick. In this presentation, you’ll learn how to create innovation, redefine your goals based on your failures, and build a tight team that works hard and has fun.
Barbara Corcoran’s credits include straight D’s in high school and college and 20 jobs by the time she turned 23. It was her next job that would make her one of the most successful entrepreneurs in the country: She borrowed $1,000 and quit her job as a waitress to start a tiny real estate company in New York City. Over the next 25 years, Barbara would parlay that $1,000 loan into a
$5 billion real estate business, building the largest and best-known brand in the business. Corcoran is the author of the bestseller Shark Tales, How I Turned $1,000 into a Billion-Dollar Business! She is a motivational and inspirational speaker, the real estate contributor for The Today Show on NBC, and a frequent contributor to every major network. Corcoran’s new syndicate, Barbara Corcoran Venture Partners, allows would-be angels to invest alongside her.
About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

I say to people, look at your bad situation and realize its an opportunity for something better to happen. If her BF hadn't cheated on her, she wouldn't never been the Barbara we know today. Sometimes, you have to thank your enemies-they make or break you.

*I highly recommend* watching Barbara's Google talk. It's over an hour long but she's more upbeat and talks about her childhood, meeting her boyfriend who got her into real estate and her early business days. It was very inspiring and she was very charismatic and funny!

Barbara , i like you. Seem Genuine and honest. I am surprised you only have 27 businesses out of shark tank you are happy about. With your fame now I can help you with international market that can put your gains to shame. But if u are happy where you are that is all that counts. Contentment.
