Absolutely Classic 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I just turned 57 and remember my parents laughing so hard when it aired 🌈 this was a show I got to watch at 8 in 1971 ! A learning experience Nick Sr. Told me not to be like Archie when I grew up yet looking back he and many from his era were just like him as well as the men of color like Jefferson 👀. Lionel however Mr Bunker did like ⭐️. Classic indeed

Sammy Davis Jr is one of my favorite singers of all time even if I have alot of favorites . Even if I was born in 1985 but I started listening to Sammy and the other great singers before my time . I listen to Sammy Davis Jr and the other great singers with my grand ma when I was little and I still do. My grandma passed alway four years ago this month when I listen to the great classic music I think of my grandma everyday.

They actually had to edit this for airtime. The laughter went on and on for several minutes without letting up. The crew themselves began to break down in laughter and the scene had to be reset from just after Sammy Davis left so they could get the punchline in.

The thing I like most about the character, Archie Bunker, is that he unwittingly draws attention to the fact that the most racist people on the planet (generally speaking) are those who wear their "anti-racism" like a fashion accessory. Archie may have been a buffoon, but he wasn't a hater. The brothers all knew this.
@mjjohnson9925
@mjjohnson9925 7 жыл бұрын
As a black male, I have ZERO issues with Archie. Unlike most, he didn’t hide his racial hang ups and animosities. With honest and open dialogue, you will find that many issues come from false information and lack of awareness and understanding of people who don’t look like you. Great show.

One of the two best episodes of this classic series. My all time favorite is "Ediths Reunion." Archie is jealous of Ediths crush on the class hero Buck Evans. When the two of them meet Archie almost falls into a dead faint. "YOU'RE WHO!?" "Buck Evans." "It looks like she's in there with you!" I almost passed out laughing. Archie says to Edith, "You see a beautiful person, I see a blimp!" This show is a solid second. Sammy's stating "I mean, there was work for us!" "Room, board, chains." This show dealt with the ignorance of bigotry and hate in an uplifting way. It wasn't just funny. It was necessary.

Yes, I really took 60s and 70s TV for granted when I was growing up. So many quality shows. I still marvel at The Carol Burnett Show, they put on an extravaganza each and every week, and I don't know how Bob Mackie was able to create like 50-60 costumes every week on that show AND the Sonny and Cher Show too. Carol says no one could ever put on a show like that today because of the expense. That's why we have so many stupid reality shows today, they are much cheaper to produce.

I heard that Sammy Davis Jr was a big fan of the show and he ask the producers can he be in the show.
