A learning experience Nick Sr. Told me not to be like Archie when I grew up yet looking back he and many from his era were just like him as well as the men of color like Jefferson 👀. The thing I like most about the character, Archie Bunker, is that he unwittingly draws attention to the fact that the most racist people on the planet (generally speaking) are those who wear their "anti-racism" like a fashion accessory. Archie may have been a buffoon, but he wasn't a hater. The brothers all knew this.
@mjjohnson99257 жыл бұрын
As a black male, I have ZERO issues with Archie. Unlike most, he didn’t hide his racial hang ups and animosities. With honest and open dialogue, you will find that many issues come from false information and lack of awareness and understanding of people who don’t look like you. Great show.

One of the two best episodes of this classic series. My all time favorite is "Ediths Reunion." Archie is jealous of Ediths crush on the class hero Buck Evans. When the two of them meet Archie almost falls into a dead faint. "YOU'RE WHO!?" "Buck Evans." "It looks like she's in there with you!" I almost passed out laughing. Archie says to Edith, "You see a beautiful person, I see a blimp!" This show is a solid second. Sammy's stating "I mean, there was work for us!" "Room, board, chains." This show dealt with the ignorance of bigotry and hate in an uplifting way. It wasn't just funny. It was necessary.

Carol says no one could ever put on a show like that today because of the expense. That's why we have so many stupid reality shows today, they are much cheaper to produce.
