The dems ran a bad campaign and lost. Stop blaming anyone other than the democrats

It's the aesthetic that they are after, not the meaning behind it. Take for example the Iron Cross which in its strictest definition is a Prussian and German military award given for bravery and acts of exceptional quality done by a German soldier, now it serves as a decoration for far-right folks. Or the Totenkopf (Death's Head) which is emblematic of the SS but it originally started as a symbol for the various German military units such as the Prussian Cavalry or the Brunswick infantry along with black uniforms...

You never hear transphobes raising even a fraction of the hysterica for things like child marriage still being legal in most US states or very visible cases of cis, heterosexual grooming. If people really have suddenly become deeply invested in girls and women's sports, why do they never talk about the difference in funding and salary and things like how dangerous professional cheerleading has become without comparable increases in safety equipment? This demonization of gender transition and variation has always been about discomfort with people existing while "different". Hatemongers have weaponized confusion and discomfort into scapegoating a small and vulnerable population for the uncertainty people feel about the world changing. Your concern for children has been shaped by people who do not want trans people to be able to exist in public life, who do not believe that their own children could be trans. Trans people have always and will always continue to be born. If you really care about kids, think about the well-being of kids who grow up in a world that hates and fears them insists they can't pursue an honest and happy life all because of something as harmless as the name you call them.

people are hurting economically after inflation was high. Thankfully, inflation rates are down and staying down. However, wages have not increased.. While Democrats sucked campaigning and can't push a narrative to save their lives.. Lowering taxes, cracking down on price gouging/ predatory pricing practices from groceries to medicines (insulin, life sustaining meds), and expressing pro labor/union sentiments, etc. All sound, (and are currently), tremendously beneficial for everyday, working, Americans. Much more so than inflationary universal tariffs, revocations for affordable care, deporting millions of immigrants, regardless of potential economic impacts, not mentioning the insane costs and logistics for the proposed scale... I could go on but reality and policy doesn't matter much. When after the election, top Google queries included "what are tariffs?" And "Can I change my vote?". What's to remember years ago any way?.. People on affordable care, praise Trunp for stating he'll end obamacare. Immigrants will cheer on for deportations because they're the good immigrants even if undocumented, because they work and are not criminals...they believe If people really cared about uplifting/detrimental policies and their wallets/economic stability, I'd be inclined to believe they'd appreciate Harris's proposals instead of voting for tariffs without even knowing what a tariff is. Seems more than ever, that vibes are the only important factor.

This past week the Town Council had its first meeting since the election. Over 50 people from our small town showed up to support our Town Manager and berate the Council members. Unfortunately, the members in question are too far gone to consider they are the problem. With this new election, they will be worse than ever. It's going to be a very ugly future for our town if the community goes back into their holes and doesn't hold the TC accountable.

The same day Trump got reelected in the US, here in Germany our Government broke apart, which leeds us to new elections in February with a far right wing party (over which it's still discussed if it should be forbidden) standing currently standing at ~20%... What a time to be alive...

Why would a party be forbidden? Isn't that the antithesis of modern democric theory?
@AntsanParcher20 сағат бұрын
@@Chad_Thundercock Because they have well-known and influential members who have publicly stated multiple times that they would like to abolish the democracy. We have a video by one AfD member talking strategy - he actively wants to work to make things worse in Germany while we still get refugees, just so he can associate that negative sentiment with immigration.

Meanwhile in Austrias national election the far rights got their highest number ever with 32%. But nobody wants to coalide with them so for now they are out and in another 4 years they will probably have an absolute majority.

The thing that really hit scary for me is that people will vote _only_ on their perception of the economy and can't even tell what that is. Some people will say they're better or worse off and it's not rooted in anything that a president does. *You're better off under Trump? Really? Is that before his policies start to have an effect or when he leaves?*

Every time a president leaves office, we get the most benefit from his policies. It's such a farce to sit and watch people respond with their gut reactions. So hard to remain patient when these people are most of the electorate. We need better education.

I don't remember the source, but I recall a quote that roughly went, "the best argument against democracy is a 30-minute conversation with an average constituent."
@FaeQueenCory20 сағат бұрын
That's a quote from an Englishman. And is more damning than you realize when you factor in the fact that in the Americas, democracy flourished and had no issue for every single year before 1492. The problem with democracy is clear: a certain group of people are inherently anathema to it.

@@TheOneTrueMarHey, I hope that I'm wrong. But we'll see. As for you, what do you expect to happen? What do you expect to do, and what do you expect the effects of those actions to be? I expect he'll deport a lot of people, maybe millions, and he'll place an across the board 10% tariff on imports. I expect that the TCJA tax cuts will be renewed, but that the ACA subsidies will not be. I think that the results of those actions will be bad. Do you think that those things aren't going to happen, or that the results will be good?
