This is because the main guitarist lost four fingers of one hand playing bowling, after that they let him make that tone at the beginning of each song as something symbolic for all that he had contributed to the group.

Today, producers have "producer tags" they put at the beginning of rap songs as their trademark. The Ink Spots simply pioneered that idea, this riff is their "trademark"

Wow! I never really noticed they used the same song in the intro until now. Brilliant observation, NKBANGERS! But, not ALL of their recordings started with that tune though... several that don't are: A Kiss And A Rose, Swingin On The Strings, Your Feets Too Big, Mama Don't Low No Swingin In Here, Swing Gate Swing, Taint Nobodys Business If I Do, Stompin At The Savoy, Old Joe's Hittin The Jug, Keep Away From My Doorstep, Christopher Columbus, Alabama Barbecue, Don't Let Old Age Creep Up On You, With Plenty of Money And You, Yes Suh!, Lets Call The Whole Thing Off, Slap That Bass, Brown Gal, Knock Kneed Sal, You Bring Me Down, Stop Pretending, Hey Doc!, Nothin', Shout Brother Shout, Cow Cow Boogie, Into Each Life Some Rain Must Fall, I'm Making Believe, I'm Beginning To See The Light, Information Please, White Christmas, Where Flamingos Fly, Say Something Sweet To Your Sweetheart, Recess In Heaven, Echoes, Land Of Love, If (They Made Me A King), I Still Feel The Same About You, A Fool Grows Wise etc. They recorded about 175 songs throughout their career. I suppose "most" of their hits started with their signature intro but not "all" of them did. :)
