I think I am right in thinking that the cat which appears in From Russia With Love is the same cat which appears later in Thunderball and You Only Live Twice, then after the scene in YOLT where the bombs go off with the cat freakout or the bit where Blofeld shoots his gun and the cat jumps off and disappears, the owner of the cat refused to allow the producers to use the cat ever again as the cat was so affected by the explosions it could never work on a film set again. Therefore for the subsequent films they had to find different cats.

Never Say Never Again - Max von Sydow - has some great cat scenes. OK - it's not a "real" franchise Bond movie but its feisty feline content is excellent and in many ways(savvy, subversive script, more cynical, dry etc) it's better than any other Bond - in some ways it's worse(eg. bland, dated music). And it features Bond on a bicycle...obviously a "No Never Ever" prospect in a Broccoli Bond. PS. how come cats seem to love the camera and seem to fully understand that the camera is filming them !?
