I can definitely understand why the star cup in this game is seemingly everyone's favorite. Sunshine Airport is a very cool and unique course and one of my favorites in the game, Dolphin Shoals is a really cool underwater course, Electrodrome believe it or not is actually my least favorite in the cup but I still like it, and Mount Wario is my favorite course in the entire game and one of my favorites in the entire series.

Minor nitpick about the star cup that I never see anyone talking about (Probably because it’s not that deep lol) - I agree it’s one of the best cups in the game but my problem is with Sunshine Airport and Dolphin Shoals being one after the other. My problem comes with the fact that both of them end the lap with a boring anti-gravity U turn, as stand alone tracks they’re fine but I feel like their track layouts are too similar to be placed one after another

i can see that for sure! It might be the same set piece but i think the way they pull it off on an aesthetic front really sells me on it with Shoals having their U turn be the part where the music really kicks in and Electro having reactive panels that light up and sound as you drive. They might be the same functionally but the differences are enough to win me over

This is so random, but I just had an idea on how we could make the downhill section of Merry Mountain better. Have the train that passes by the racers throw down helpful items. Think about it, it has a Christmas aesthetic, and part of Christmas is giving presents, and by throwing down items, which act as gifts to the racers, you've made an annoying straightaway into some extra chaos for the mad dash to the end. And when I say helpful items, I'm mainly talking about mushrooms and stars, but we could even take this a step further and have them throw entire gift boxes that instantly give you an item instead of having to go through a whole roulette.

Flower Cup in C minus is crazy, you've got a good take on the Mario Circuit concept plus the goated Toad Harbor and Shy Guy Falls all in one track. Even the most picked on track, Twisted Mansion, at least has nice music and a kinda cool glider section towards at the end. Leaf Cup that low is also insane, you've got Music Park and three crazy glow ups (Sherbet Land especially being the biggest improvement of a course in that cup)

Well, Hi. W video as usual, nothing here that was less than peak. And even if there were a couple of things I disagree with (Like I think you overrate the Mushroom and Egg cup and underrate the leaf cup), at least you explained to the point that I can see the argument, and it's always fun to see different perspectives. Other than the big 3, the rest of the placements were either based (any time someone says they don't like the cherry, banana or acorn cup, I will be there no matter what) or just slightly different of my take. And other than that, this video was fun, well explained, well edited... yeah, this is another day on the Sir Musty channel with a W video, nothing really new.

This was very interesting. While I took track order into account most of my thoughts on the cups were based on where I put the individual tracks in my tier list and thus those individual tracks in a vacum. While there's nothing wrong with the way I did it, I am curious on whether or not things would pan out differently if I were to treat the cups as the unit they are and say put Mushroom Cup higher because it feels like each track just gets better. I will say though, my top 3 of Feather, Lightning (I am a Grumble truther and no funny KZbin man will change that) and Bell and my bottom of Cherry won't change because those cups are so fantastic and in Cherry's case, underwhelming and where the hell is my electric tube section Nintendo?! Give it BACK!

I'm gonna step in to defend Flower Cup, as I believe it deserves at least an a Tier placement. When it comes to track quality, it's got my GOAT Shy Guy Falls and Toad Harbour which made it into my top 10 tracks in the game, these two hard carry the cup to a high spot already. Mario Circuit I think is a fine B tier course, nothing special, but fun to race on and I feel like Musty's hatred for it utterly tanked the cup's ranking. The only dud I see is twisted mansion, which is what keeps it from the absolute highest peaks of the tier list. Pacing wise, the cup is excellent, you start with a decent track in MC, ramp up to amazing levels with Harbour, take a dip to the depths when you get to TW, but end on the highest of highs with Falls. That's a great pace for a cup that you know has a miss in it. So with all that, I placed flower cup in S tier, just below my highest tier, but without my obvious bias for Peak Shy Guys, I think I've made a good case for it to be higher on the tier list. What do you guys think?

10:10 to roast the Donut Plains 3 “being the second best SNES remake” even more. In MK8D specifically, we already know it’s the third best remake. In MK8 on the Wii U specifically, they’re correct. But if we include previous SNES remakes, Mario Circuit 2 in MK7 is a much better remake than DP3. So if we’re being serious, across the franchise, Donut Plains 3 is the 4TH best SNES remake.

My friend and I made a shared ranking of every course, and we used a point system to determine what cup was the best. The worst was the Crossing cup (cause it had baby park in it which was the worst course), and the best was, undoubtedly, the Lightning Cup. I’m dead serious. No other cup in the game (no, not even the star cup.) has the same amount of GIGACHAD ENERGY than the lightning cup.

At the time, having freshly just played all the cups for my ranking, i remember Berlin annoying me way more than Tokyo and Merry boring me way more than Sky Garden In retrospect - i think the highs of Moon being higher than Cat would even it out to to a B so you're right on the money 👍

Its funny to me how good Acorn Cup could have been if other choices were made for their Retro picks. If DK Jungle was replaced with Dino Dino Jungle, Daisy Circuit was replaced with Dry Dry Ruins, and you just bring in Pipeline instead of Cove it would've been infinitely better than how it ended up turning out.

I think it's honestly great the way it is and I just don't understand the hate. Rome is one of the best city tracks, actually having a lot going on compared to just endless roads or background pieces. Then you have DK Mountain which is a downgrade but still a fun nostalgic track considering it goes from like 9.5/10 to 7.5/10, then Daisy Circuit is just the most aesthetically pleasing and varied Circuit aside from Yoshi's & maybe the other Mario Circuit. And I do not at all understand the Cove slander. Is it because the other completely original tracks were like 10/10's? Genuinely it' always confused me cause I think it's great, I like the underwater, I like the ruins tying back with Rome Avanti, there' good variance lap to lap, only thing is like 2 or 3 short turns with nothing going on but other than that it' like a solid 7/10 track. Odyssey putting it at 9th felt like the most reasonable take in the world imo.
