Not only is Caligura genuinely a monster, hence why he's called that as his moonscorched version, but he also seems to be the only person who actively tries to "win" the festival, so his form can also be seen as what it takes and what one must become to even attempt at winning the festival, a "monster" by killing everyone

1:31 The creator answered this recently in a reply on twitter, about the uniqueness of the playable character's moonscorched forms. "no, the player characters aren't special. Just making every enemy unique would be quite a task. There is a flimsy excuse for this in the game. The villagers suffer from slow exposure whereas the moon exposure is higher by the time game takes place because days are running out" This does answer why it happens does quickly though, as they quite literally only had 3 days until termina was over.

I think Karin's moonscorch being "difficult to tell where the transformation started" is a way to show her own split between her views on being a "valkyrie" and an internalized guilt, taking those vulture comments to heart. There are some hints to Samarie’s dysmorphia in her obsession with Marina. During her transformation she will mention things like how she would watch Marina spend an hour each morning making sure her makeup was perfect, admiring that. I think given Marina’s talent with the occult as well she is what Samarie wishes she could be

The chaugnar one was pretty much on point. It was something like being an 'elephant in a porcelain shop' sort of deal, a sort of big oaf which is what the creator tweeted, although he does want to flesh this idea out more in dialogue in future updates. And the deal about the woodsman's parasite is also very likely. If you use medical diagnosis on the woodsman, it suggests that it grew from his crotch, which would explain the origins of the parasite. And using medical diagnosis on chaugnar suggests the mutation started from the face. So combining everything, it was most likely another one of those parasites that attacked abella, causing the premature moonscorch.

I think Chaugnar's masculine aspects are actually more of how Abella *wants* to feel. Her femininity is something that is never questioned in game, and in fact, most dialogue around Abella highlights her feminine aspects (ex. Marina calls her "pretty lady" and Henryk cat calls her). So I think her moonscorched form is reflecting more that she doesn't want to just be seen as a pretty lady, rather than that she doesn't feel feminine enough.

Samarie's interpretation was extremely limited, and would argue that her backstory plays a great deal into her moonscorch form: she Is a secretive dark priest apprentice from vatican City, one sequestered for her abnormal afinity with the supernatural. The rituals she has gone through have left her with a shortened life expectancy, one she Is aware of it. In her mind, her birth, or rather her body, Is the reason behind her misfortune. Once she faces moonscorch, she leaves behind the one thing that has limited her whole life. She Is finally herself.

13:45 the giant is choking someone as apart of marcos backstory he was a contracted killer and was forced to kill. Marco feels forced to be violent as an insecurity (idk) so the choking person physically apart of him as a moonscorched shows that the moon god took advantage of that, also his hands are pummels and only pummels. They dont have fingers because once again they are only for violence/combat.

I think Miro explained that Abellas moonscorched form is based off the saying “elephant in a glass room”. Unfortunately, (i think miro says this as well) it wasn’t expanded upon bc she transforms on the first day. Apparently, she often feels clumsy and feels as though she ruins everything she touches. Well done! I liked the idea of fighting off the moonscorch in the final rher battle your mentioned from the beginning. It makes sense since the player ends up in a seizure. My thoughts on Tanaka: The whip, or knout, could be symbolic as a form of punishment as his name implies. Whips have also been used historically as a way of pushing people to their physical limits.

Tanaka has a cat o’ nine tails, a type of whip that was often used in the torture of slaves. It could mean that Tanaka either feels like a slave to whatever company he works for or a slave to his father’s expectations. It could also mean that he abuses his employees and is a “slavedriver.”

For Henryk’s “Gentleman” I’m of the opinion that he wanted to be a part of high society, but because of the fact that poverty was all he knew, he had a twisted vision of what this looked like. Also, for Samaries “Dysmorphia” I think her backstory is VERY relevant to her moonscorched form, given that she literally was a child offering and the fact that the things she went through as an offering shortened her lifespan. Dysmorphia brought this out in the sense that she thought that any change was better than her original form.

I think it's more reasonable to say the body The Giant is lugging around is actually the opponent boxer that Marcoh was forced to kill or else the mobster Riccardo would hurt his sister as described in his backstory, considering Marcoh can gain killing intent on his way to deal with Riccardo I don't really believe he feels any guilt or remorse for killing him, but killing his opponent clearly weighed quite *quite* heavily on him, the giant being an outward corruption of what Marcoh feels could show how he possibly feels like a raging monster who didn't do enough to save his opponent and just murdered him in cold blood. Well that and the rather unsubtle talk dialogue where the giant screams "G-GUILT GUILT!" at you, it's the only thing the giant is actually capable of saying after all. Though i do understand where the body being Riccardo idea comes from, Marcoh does love tossing both of them, Riccardo over a balcony and the body at a maybe not so innocent bystander, or maybe Marcoh just really likes tossing people like he's a pitcher in baseball and really wanted to reflect that in his moonscorched form, it's all up to interpretation after all.

So, something I wonder and personally hypothesize about Sammie and her moonscorched form Dysmorphia. The thing is, she has strong telepathic capabilities, and simps so hard for Marina that she ends up having a huge one-sided parasocial relationship with her, right? Well? Given of course the trans mentality and themes and compicated gender upbringing Marina would naturally have, what else could possibly imprint onto Samarie. If she can delude herself into an idea of a "relationship" just from telepathy, how much else is she drawing in from the innermost thoughts and feelings of a conflicted trans woman? That's how I see it anyways. Or even, alternatively, who knows? We could have two transbians in our midst! With how much she yanderes and bases her own self around Marina on some level, I actually would wonder if that brought a strange gender crisis to her as well. Maybe reading Marina's mind was her egg cracking moment, realizing, "Oh shit!"

In my opinion, the glass all over tanaka's body is window glass, I think that since he's a workaholic overachiever man, the glass represents burn out and depression and what do you when you're depressed ? You jump in the window of the giant building you're working in to kys and cut yourself with the glass before falling to your death. About the whip, it could represents the slavery system inside some big corporations. He's probably in the middle of the hierarchy which means that he's constantly abused by the ones above him but that he also abuse the ones below him and since everyone is aware of that but continue to keep working then it's some form of masochism which explains the bdsm look of the whip
