Hi Ethan, I just want to say thank you so much for the videos on All My Days. I had never touched a guitar in my life, but wanted to do something special for my sister's wedding. This is their favourite song, so I got a guitar and just started practicing with your videos. It was the best way to learn the song that I could imagine. Over a year later, and I played the song for them this weekend and they absolutely loved it. It isn't perfect, but it was clear that I put many, many hours of practice into it and it definitely sounds like the real thing. So, again, thank you for this, I couldn't have done it without you!

You tackled a very difficult song. Top level. I can tell you something from someone that has played guitar for 30 odd years. I've never done picking before, this is my first attempt and it's very difficult. There is reason guitarists don't pick, it's like learning from scratch, and it's really difficult. You might notice that guitarists that do picking lessons are all stoney faced. I take my hat off to you, and hope you are still playing. I have a tip. Use low tension strings, it will make your playing a breeze. Newtone make some hand made ones and they take all the finger pressure off. There are other I've not tried them though. They just take that element for pressing down hard away.

I have a question about the timing on this. Apologies in advance for incorrect terminology. At the very start of the playthrough, looking at the tablature, the first 3/4 measure after the 7/8 measure. When I'm playing this am I supposed to be "feeling" like the actual start of the riff starts on the 1 of the 3/4th measure? Because when I play it out it almost feels like 1 of the whole pattern/riff really starts on the 3+ of the 3/4 measure... It's like the the 1, or start of the 3/4th measure isn't really the true start of the riff/pattern in terms of feel.. the true 1 or start is the 3+ of the 3/4 measure I ask because, and I'm not sure if this is related, I get tripped up at the very end of the intro when you start the 1 on the first measure of the verse, it's almost like there's this elusive half-step that I'm missing when I'm transitioning from the into to the verse and I'm wondering if I'm maybe not understanding where the true 1 or "start of the riff is. Another thing I'm confused on is.. well the weird time signature changes, they're really awkward to play, they sound fine when I'm listening to the actual song, but when I play it I'm struggling to interpret/feel comfortable playing it because I can't really understand why he couldn't just play it in straight 4/4, i'm playing it right but i guess i just don't understand why he settled on playing it that way... if that makes any sense..
@zanecook58157 жыл бұрын
I almost just posted the same question. Seems a little ridiculous to play it in alternating 3/4 and 5/4 when the math comes out the same as 4/4. What ever.

Ethan. How about a lesson on how to mentally approach picking. Its very similar to playing piano. You don't use your brain. Let your hands do the work. And your hands do not belong to you. All that sort of thing. What do you think?

It would not be hard to play if there were no time signature changes all the time. Only very rare songs have something similar and it messes up with all we're used to, especially if you have good rhythms. It's a nightmare to get right. Very nice tutorial though thanks bro

Mate, can you give me a link to the tab. Your tutorail is realy too slow for me and it gives me hard time learning it. I meen, i need to hear the parts played a bit faster so i can get the rythme and the different parts. You play ut so slow, by the time we get to the end of a line my brain thit not memorise no rythm and and what part im a playing. Just need the tabs so i can read it and know what moment i am in the song. Thx in advence 😅 Sorry for my bad English i'm French lol
