Got a tip to further waterproof your Garmin. Get some hair spray and spray enough on a paper towel to make it wet. Then rub the hairspray on the seams of the unit. The hair spray will help form a seal. I have used exactly that method on My e bikes electric components. Not a single failure. It works.

For now I have put a couple of small springs in each side of the switch out of an old pen and it works fine...for now... but these being small could tip and jam (as I foresee it) I have therefore ordered conical springs from Ebay 8 mm base dia. 5mm top dia. and 5 mm high. Hey T. O. T. W., I have to agree with the rates you gave each item! To get a Vulcan S 650, I will revert back to this video & get these sames mods for my 650 S. That "booster plug" would be a "MUST" because of the EXTREME engine braking issue and getting "thrown over" the handle-bars because of it! Doug🏍️👍 Doug

I like the mods especially the windshield as I'm 5'8. I like the single seat though I'd add a top box. Shame it doesn't come with a CENTRESTAND- bit of a deal breaker for me.

@UncleRed5 жыл бұрын
@@trippontwowheels I love 'em. Longer rides feel more comfortable, plenty of space to move your feet about rather then hook 'em over a peg. They don't get in the way too much but will reduce lean angle as they're the first to scratch the road. Would recommend them if your feet get uncomfortable.
@trippontwowheels5 жыл бұрын
UncleRed Do they have metal scrape pads on the bottom?

I agree with you saying the Vulcan S sounds like a sewing machine, especially when its first started and idling. I didn't like the looks of the stock muffler. It reminds me of a bomb attached to the bottom of a World War II dive bomber. I like the idea of a concealed exhaust on my Vulcan S, but I needed more sound coming out of it. I ended up buying a CS Racing exhaust for mine. It wasn't cheap, around $700.00 which includes taxes and shipping, but its well worth it. It took a little while to get it, but still worth it. It blends into the bike very well and looks practically concealed.

Absolutely love everything youve done with the bike. I'm looking for a very similar setup. Was bouncing back and forth between buying the 650 and the 900. Think youve sold me on the 650. Great video! Great mod list!

Great video, man! There is so much to contemplate that I've probably watched it 6 times! I'm test riding a pre-owned (3,000mile) 2017 KVS next week. My only concern is that I'm 6'2" with 34" inseam and worried that even the extended fit set-up will leave me cramped. I really like the back rest mod! That must be so comfortable to lean back while opening the throttle, right?
@trippontwowheels5 жыл бұрын
Benjamin Marchant Benjamin I think you should be fine at 6’2” with everything in extended reach settings. You may even elect to put engine guards and highway pegs on to further alleviate any issues. I love the backrest and it makes the bike very comfortable. Glad you like the video, hope you’ve subscribed. -Tripp

@@trippontwowheels Thanks! You were right. I bought the bike and I was actually 'okay' with the mid reach seat and mid controls which surprised me. But I just put on the extended reach seat and extended controls and now it's perfect. Not cramped at all. Cheers!

Thanks for the review of the mods. I think I'll get this bike but was a bit worried about the wind as I need to ride both in the city and long distance.. and I mean really long distance i.e. 700 miles each direction. Would you be able to share more information on the different wind screens and how that affects your riding on the Vulcan. Cheers.
@trippontwowheels4 жыл бұрын
So much depends on your height. I'm 5-11 and have the Large OEM on my bike. Honestly, for 700 miles each direction you may want to look at a bigger bike. You'd need too many changes to the Vulcan S to make it worth your while. IMO. Thanks for your question Perttu, I hope you subscribe! -Tripp

i spent 1200 dollars all together on the givi monokey system.... fully half of that was a matching pair of trekker 33s (33 liter hard cases) and it was worth every penny... with givi monokey you have to realize you only need to buy those cases once.... the system to mount them to the bike needs to be bought for every bike you own/ move on to... but the cases will mount to any monokey system. and if you eventually buy bigger and smaller bags you can adapt to what space you actually need. if you have the 22 liter cases you can throw those on when your only going ona day ride and want to bring your lunch or some water with you.. or if your going to go and pick someone up... you can load the 44s on a monokey and store 2 full faced helmets if needed.

Hi Tripp. This is a great overview of your mods. I have done some of the same. I just purchased the STS smart Braking Module and was looking to see if you had an install video for it? I am having some trouble location where on the wiring I can attach it. Closer to the back, the rear turn signals and brake light are all in the same wiring harness. Now I am looking near the front which seems to be where you might have tied in. Do you have any suggestions?
