Thank you very much for your interest in this topic. As a start, please tune in to what the animal leather industry tried to do here with our channel: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pIHCdKmCocZ5oqs In general, depending on the animal skin grade, the animals are specifically raised for this matter. However even if meat would be the reason no.1 in other cases, the hide remains one of the most profitable body parts. That means: If manufacturers put animal leather in a car and you accept it as a customer, you give your money to an industry that earns money by oppressing humans, animals and destroys the environment, you make them more profitable. Also, if you turn the argument around "meat is the waste of the leather industry" you realize how biased the argument is. After all, would you care for which body part you would murdered? Or imagine someone robs you on the street and beats you to death - would it matter to you if it was for your Smartphone or for your purse? The animal agriculture industry occupies 2/3 of all farm land on this planet which cannot be used for direct human nutrition then. That is extremely inefficient. The no.1 cause for deforestation is the animal industry. It is also one of the biggest contributor to climate change. The amount of land, resources, energy and water being used is beyond imagination. If you are interested in how the animals are being treated and transported in the global leather industry, watch this footage: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qpzNdHSjppaSbqc Note that the footage is genuine and was recorded by a highly decorated investigative journalist in Germany I know myself personally. For the alternative, you can either use artificial fabrics which can be made from recyclables (we have already shown a lot of vehicles that use great fabric seats from PET-bottles etc.) or more and more also from plant-based materials (like Pinatex). And even if you would create a seat completely with petroleum without a recycling share, the amount of oil being used for that is nothing in comparing just to once fueling up your car. In practical reasons, fabric or microfibre seats are just more useful. You do not sweat in summer and it is not cold in winter. And there are also new leatherette materials available which are superior in every aspect: kzbin.info/www/bejne/q2qXiouAbJeIiqM Not using animal skin on seats is a major issue of animal rights, human rights - and after all just of common sense what is better both for the environment and just more practical and more luxurious for the customer. I'm at a loss for how using wool fibers on an interior is detrimental to animals. I fully understand the historical use of animal hides and appreciate the move away from them in car interiors however, is exploitation of animals occurring from the shearing of wool from animals?

Is it really a ethically smart move to avoid leather and wool and instead advertise materials made out of oil? I have my doubts and would not follow any trend just because it sounds pleasing to the audience. Also: These materials made of synthetic soft leather are known since years, but my couch looked like crap after a couple of years. I would never buy such a material for an expensive car like this here and be a kind of beta tester.

@@autogefuehl There is nothing inherently cruel about ‘industrial scale’ animal farming - provided good standards of animal welfare are adhered to. I’ve seen massive herds of sheep round my way frolicking in the fields and seeming quite calm and relaxed when being sheared by an expert. Also, if it wasn’t for the wool and meat sheep wouldn’t even exist since they are effectively a man-made species - selectively bred over thousands of years for their wool and meat. They will die out if they no longer have market value.

I find it really interesting that they went BACK to a manually adjustable (dials) climate control. The 2nd gen L405 (2018+) had a touch screen climate control center.

The car is awesome, no doubt. So is the tech. But one thing I don't understand is why is the main infotainment slow and laggy with stutters ? And why not add the ability of at least 90 or 120Hz refresh rate ? I mean, the car has futuristic tech and yet the infotainment display (system) performs like a handicapped Android Tablet from eons ago !!!

'high end car' ? Yes maybe when it comes to price, but absolute at the bottom when it comes to reliability according to JD Power Rating. Even other 'high end cars' like Mercedes, Audi, Jaguar are all below industrial average !! I do not understand why they keep calling them premium cars. Premium meaning some thing that is added to an ordinary price. Maybe it is me that lack English language ability. But I like the design though.

To my eye, it’s a powerful design. I would like to see less silicon computer based gadgetry. A minimalist and more analog control set up would be in keeping with the exterior design of the vehicle and its gravel road capabilities. A car doesn’t have to be a high tech headache to be beautiful, contemporary and reliable.

My Range Rover HSE is the biggest piece of $h!t, I’ve never owned such a pile of crap in my life. This thing doesn’t want to be in the snow, rain, mud, any temperature below 40 degrees and for sure nothing above 80 degrees or even looked at funny that matter. Seriously, I have never owned a vehicle so scared of earth, I feel like when getting into this pile of junk and putting the key in the ignition, turning the key and wondering if the vehicle feels like going out today….. will I be able to go to the store, work, restaurant, pick up the kids from school, don’t ever think you are ever going to do a road trip, and if you think you’re going to off-road or climb a mountain like they like to show in their brochure with this thing without dumping a boatload of cash at the mechanic when you finish, your insane. I would tell everyone in the world prince or pauper to skip it, it’s not worth all the tea in China, unless you of course think the heated seats are worth the ridiculous price tag, then have at it.

Ugly seats. I hate the way the relocated the seat buttons and everything on the interior from non flushed monitors to the steering wheel design. Long live the l322 2012 autobiography…..
just a couple of random sluggish iPads and Ikea style seats, and they represent it like it is some technological break through luxury, for real?

@MD-qt1jh2 жыл бұрын
@@Elijah-cy9do not really. Lexus offers alot for the money. Their price is much less and reliability is exemplary not to mention fuel consumption etc.
@Elijah-cy9do2 жыл бұрын
@@MD-qt1jh reliability, most likely, but the Range Rover is improving and not much people keep their cars for more than 10 years. The lexus is not going to ride and handle or have the interior as nice as the Range Rover, it wouldn't have as much features or luxury or feel as special as a Range Rover, it lost the split tailgate and still doesn't have a panoramic roof while massaging seats is only available in the $127000 ultra luxury trim which I believe only has it in the rear seats while you get pretty much everything you'd want in a $120000 Range Rover SE. Fuel economy wise the Range Rover is actually more fuel efficient, LX600 does 17 mpg city and 22 mpg highway while the Range Rover SE P400 does 18 mpg city / 23 mpg highway.
@MD-qt1jh2 жыл бұрын
@@Elijah-cy9do whilst agreeing with some of your comments but as an engineer who happens to work in British companies, the engineering attitude or the lack of it and level of their expertise within these companies does not strike confidence in me to buy one their products.
