I purchased a 550 G wagon 2025 month ago… I’m more than happy with the six cylinder engine. I’m actually getting an average of 20 miles a gallon and yes you don’t hear the roar of the engine, but it makes for a much more pleasant experience while driving.

I just bought the 2025 G550. Yes, I understand the loss of the V8. When I started the engine, I was initially put off by the underwhelming I6 sound. However, after a good test drive, and now having driven it for the past few days, I have come to appreciate the character of the new power train. It has its own, unique appeal, and the whole package works together in an effective way. I love a V8 in a 4WD vehicle. In the mid 90’s, I owned a ‘94 Land Rover D90 with the 3.9L V8, so I’m no stranger to a “purists” off roader. I took that vehicle all over the Colorado mountains and Utah desert. I’ve had mostly V8 4WD vehicles since. Fast forward to the 2025 G550. It’s a pleasure on the highway, losing the drone, but it’s still G wagon at its core. I look forward to taking off road, after replacing the silly performance road tires for a more sensible set of AT tires.

@@lifebreath77 overall its an awesome truck. I like that they left G63 with V8 if you must have one but the I6 is very nice. Thanks for sharing!

I test drove the G550 and felt it had more than enough power for me. I ordered one and it should be in Long Beach by the end of November. As an older guy, I'm done with loud exhaust and massive power. This turbo inline 6 hits all the marks for me. Probably too early to tell if there are many others like me. Great review by the way. I've tried to watch all that come out and you have had the most descriptive review of many of the features.

Are there auxiliary switches pre installed on the vehicle for things like off-road lights wouldn’t want to drill a hole in the dash on a very expensive vehicle

I haven't seen any pre-installed switches. Pretty sure that there are companies that would customize it if needed.

I’ve got original 2011 GL450 and my Mercedes mechanic says never to trade because has big V-8 engine!

I believe it was 4.5 V8. Good engine. But at some point it too will give up.

They should have just kept the V8 but make the engine have a little more power but make it as much fuel efficient as possible

No point in buying an I6 if it's not even cheaper than the V8 it replaced. They are castrating most of their lineup it seems, we need the V8s back asap and badly. It seems management will have to learn the hard way.

What's don't use.. The typical buyer won't know how to use m most of the features on the tablet AG's won't be taking it offroad lol,... Barely know how to drive.. .. It's just another item to fishnet their"wealthy".... To to help them LOOK LUNGE their more wealthy than they water....(Quaker is usually an illusion"... Meaning many butt big ticket items on payment plans.. Means they can't actually affords the item

Looks cheap. Side steps are just for looks, Try using them, carful you will break your ankle. Why not make them useful? Gimmicks? We don't need them. That 2nd. row is so tight, horrible. Steering wheel is just ho-hum boring and goofy looking. These new cars are only worth less than half the sticker price.
