The ZF 8-speed Powerline transmission is long overdue! We have a 2018 Ram 2500 Crewcab 4wd 6.7L Cummins. The top 3 gears would be the same as the 6 speed transmissions. But having the extra the additional lower gears will be a tremendous improvement. Also the ZF is stronger than both the Aisin and the 68RFE. The Ram 2500 needs the 4 cylinder version of the Cummins. The reduced weight would increase the payload. And, better fuel economy would really be a plus. The Cummins has plenty of power without the increase. Just improve the intake to something like the Bank's Monster Ram, which would fix the grid heater issue.

The 4bt is an antique and was laughably underpowered even when it was new. Don't get me wrong, it's great In towable generators and small equipment, but for daily driving it's terrible. You think the ups guys love theirs? Lololol

@@ThanksHero - There is plenty of power available with any electronically controlled diesel. Just add a Bank's Throttle Monster and see. The electronic throttle pedals do not give us all of the available power. With 3.73 or 4.10 ratio differential gears there is plenty of power for the 4.6L 4 cylinder and the ZF 8-speed. Our 2018 Ram 2500 4wd 3.42 ratio 6.7L Cummins has excess power. But I must admit that we run Hot Shots Secret EDT for cleaner emissions equipment. Our Hawk model 4Wheel Camper does drag down the fuel economy from 26mpg @ 65mph to 22mpg. When we add our Jeep Wrangler JLU, the milage does down to 17mpg. We can stay on cruise control on any grade without any problems. We only slow for tight curves and excessively bumpy roads.

I giggled at the part where he talks about the body design. And I giggle because I think it's the Ford F150's are starting to look and awful lot like a Ram anymore. Had to look at the decal to make sure what truck I was looking at. I suspect Ford's F250 and F350s will be following suit to change their looks that way too.

The 8 speed will hopefully, be a big asset for the Rams, while increasing 2500 payload to 2,500lbs will make it a much more 5th wheel capable truck, mine rated at 2,069lbs eliminates most average size 5th wheel trailers!

The quad cab is so large that in person it's hard to even tell then apart. I work at a dodge dealership. You only have a few more inches of leg room in the back seats. If you kids are over 6' then it would make sense but any normal sized person will be comfortable in the quad

@@wesleygolden1000 Thank you, but it makes a great deal of difference to me. A taller person sitting in the rear and leaning back will hit their head on a crew cab, but not in the megacab. In a pinch I can sleep diagonal in the second row of a megacab, even though it is not wide enough. I can't do that in a crew cab. This is literally the only reason for me to buy a ram vs the others. I am 5-11 and am the shortest compared to my sons and son in law.

The megacab isn't just for more leg room, it's for more cargo area also. With the back seat folded, many people keep tools, cargo in that area.

The Duke says, I bought a 1990 Dodge truck back in the day. I was one of the first people to own a Dodge truck with a Cummins turbo diesel. It was a 3/4 ton with a stick. 8 foot bed. I once had a 4300 lb of payload in it and it handled it easily. That was 34 years ago. Now they can only handle half of that payload. What's wrong with this picture? What did I teach you?

Nobody who actually uses their truck will buy a manual. I’ve towed with both a manual and an automatic many times before. Trust me, if your towing anything heavy, you want an automatic 100% of the time. Plus, most automatics have a manual mode anyway. Most importantly, a manual transmission can’t handle the torque that is produced by HD trucks nowadays.

@@bencoyle7555 I drive 18 wheelers for a living. Currently drive a 2022 Freightliner Cascadia with an automatic. The automatics are not more reliable for towing. At 160,000 miles 7th gear went out. The Eaton 10 speed manual is way more reliable. That said it is nice to not have to blow out my knee in traffic everyday but manuals can handle the torque and the weight of the load better. That’s why tanker’s are usually manual because the liquid loads are always heavy and the manual just holds up better.

It sure will wow everyone when it breaks down has multiple issues it could be a nice driveway ornament hear horror story's about new trucks of every brand here in canada going to keep my more reliable 2016 dodge 1500 cheap regular cab 4x4 not the greatest truck I've ever owned but it starts every day and runs fine ,I fixed the exhaust manifolds cost 1400 bucks zero issues since 40 000 k later still running like a clock

All of these new diesels have plenty of power. They also have plenty of bells and whistles. I would really like to know how the emission systems are being improved. Currently, these systems are downright unreliable.

If it were a 50% price drop, that might wow everyone… switch to hydraulic lifters on the Cummins I think will prove to be a mistake, and I do wish they offered a decent stick, say 5 with a splitter.

420 HP is anemic? I wouldn’t say so, the new inline six makes impressive number for such a tiny engine but is suspect that will come at the cost of reliability, expecially from the hight output version that makes 540 HO

I could tell you. As a Ram owner, the worst mistake that you will ever make is to buy one of these vehicles. They don't stand behind their product they're made in Mexico. Mine was a 2014 within a couple months. I had a ridiculous amount of recalls today. I have almost when you call them to ask about it. All they can say is. I'm sorry about that well. Hell, can I help you now? Horrible company, I would never, ever buy a Dodge again. It was the first new vehicle. I had ever bought in my life. I was 50 years old when I bought it. So sad and disappointed and come to find out the thing was made in Mexico. Yeah, would've never bought it. , if I would have known that.

My gf wants a bigger boat and bigger camper. But if I go any bigger, the only truck that will be able to pull it is a diesel. Diesels are just so fucking expensive to maintain. Not to mention they cost $10,000+ more than the exact same truck with a gas motor in it. Sorry but a couple 1000 lbs isn’t worth $10,000+ to me. 20,000 lbs towing capacity for a 3/4 ton truck is a perfect number. The F250 is the only 3/4 ton that can tow that though, which is stupid, Ram trails in towing capacity, GMC/Chevy need to increase the performance on the 6.6L gas. 400 hp out of a 6.6L V8 is horrible. Hell 410 hp out of a 6.4L is horrible. Especially since a 5.7L HEMI has 400 hp and 400 lb ft torque and the 6.2L from GM/Chevy has 430 hp and 460 lb ft torque. Step up the power/torque and step up the towing capacity on the gas trucks!!!
