Super impressive video, Jeff. Especially seeing how quickly you learned this plane, sorted out the issues you were having, and ultimately put together an excellent showcase of all the elements coming together here.

Dude you unlocked nostalgia.... My 2nd job I worked for American Eagle in TJSJ (San Juan Intl), and they only equipment were those ATR72... Good memories driving my golf cart in between those engines spooning.

Cool!

When I was in high school (early 80's) we went on a field trip to Williams Airforce base. Our guide (I'm not making this up) was Lieutenant Lusty. That was her name, and she was BEAUTIFUL. Anyways, she showed us the "state of the art" flight simulator that had a mock up of the entire valley on the wall. Basically it was a huge diorama plastered on this huge wall. On this wall was a camera mounted on an X,Y and Z axis. This camera's movement was controlled by the student in the cockpit. We were AMAZED at the "high tech". If we would have seen MS Flight simulator then, we would have certainly soiled our britches.

Also... as part of the tour we got to see how they made helmits for the fighter pilots and one lucky kid got a helmet custom made to his head. They even put a nick name on it for him. Sad thing I'm sure he grew out of it in 6 months as we were all in the throngs of puberty.

My friend flies for loganair and is a first officer on this specific aircraft type. He loves the aircraft, and systems say it's a very stable platform, especially for a smaller turboprop.

I am a ground handler for the ATR 72's here in Australia. We really do have a love hate relationship with the aircraft. Baggage loading is a pain in the ass with the 2 compartments. Baggage needs to be weighed and the individual actual weight of each compartment calculated. Simulator is so realistic though, so many unique quirks to the ATR

Very cool. I used to be an aircraft mechanic on ATR42 and 72 back when the panel colors were a poop brown..lol. Can’t wait to give this a try. Never ran engines or taxied a glass cockpit. All we had were old steamer gauges. Worked for TWE ( Trans World Express) at lambert-St Louis intl.

I completely understand the logistics of it all but...a bit sad to see all the U.S. majors have retired or are retiring their turboprops. My dad worked with Continental for 30 years & I grew up flying over the Rockies on gold-tailed ATRs and Beech 1900s. The sound of a turboprop is pure nostalgia for me

As you accelerate place your aileron back to neutral gradually you dont need them anymore for the x wind because rudders becomes effective . If you keep your aileron, you gonna roll as the lift is building up . Nice departure 🎉
@jfavignano Жыл бұрын
that's why I did that, with MSFS and the Weathervaning you have to eyeball it. I saw roll on the wing so in this case I had to counter it pretty much to V1 albeit ever so slightly.

Nice flying of the ATR man. Just a note though, not sure if it's your preference but I'm sure you're supposed to set your prop conditioners to auto after take off and set the power mode to climb. Then you should hear the props rpm change. Then you either fly with them in auto until landing or go back to max in gusty conditions while landing. I've observed this in many ATR videos. Thats why in your video it sounded like you were in max rpm during the cruise. Just thought I'd point that out there. Great video regardless. Continue to do more!😎👍🏿👍🏿
