why didn't you mention the drastic drop in quality compared to the previous model? it is quite evident but you have not mentioned it, very strange since you have always been careful about build quality. This generation compared to the old one has less these things: - No plastic trim around windows leaving exposed body paint inside - Soft touch interiour plastics all over the place, ALSO in the second row (now hard, in the previous model were soft) - Hard plastics on the door cars in the back (previous was soft) - No carpet under the spare wheel - One single (badly placed) LED in the boot-space (there were two very well placed leds on the left and right side) - Volume knob replace with a gimmick that only works with motion gesture - No chrome handle on glove box or handbrake button (now plastic) - No turn-signal indicator on the inside of the side-mirrors - Real leather miss on various often touched arm-rest surfaces - Loosing the MMI controller with touch/zoom/write/dial/push controls is a big one for me This new model sadly does not match the old model's build quality thanks to VW's cost cutting.

What do you expect? him to tell the truth? He's the same guy who talks badly against Alfa, Mazda...etc Man I sat inside Audi A1, boy the quality was worse than KIA. Audi A3 is badly made too. All the cheap plastics and flimsy assemblies inside the cabin. The gearbox takes the cake for being so nasty.

My 2017 Audi S3 Nano Grey with Black Optic Looks way better...i don't like the fake exhaust, car is too big, Digital Cockpit does't look nice, and rear air thing on bumper looks terrible and lastly, the Volume control in the front. sucks but then again..that's my opinion;))

The only defect I find for this lovely car (apart of its price 😅) are those air vents in the cockpit. Really, the engineers weren’t able to find another solution for putting them ?? Great review, as always!!!!

@@ctmone Yeah, it's true. It's ridiculous. I've seen a review of the new Lamborghini Huracan and this car sounds like a F1 racing car! If you've ever been close to a racing track, where F1 cars pass by, you know what I'm talking about 😂 Even the reviewer said 'I don't know how this is legal'. It's like they make laws for the super rich and laws for the rest. I hope people realize in time what a corrupt and money wasting entity this is.

Awesome review Thomas! The small boot space (325 litres) is a real deal-breaker for the S3 sedan, don’t you think? Especially for a small family it is simply not enough.

@Joe Kinchicken yeah these new BMWs are not even boring, they are quiet obviously not as good as older models. The e90 was the last truly good bmw 3series generation, for instance. Of the current BMW lineup, I only like the 2series coupe.

This new generation is well made, but this performance version is also too expensive, so i'll consider other brands for the price! inside air vents to big, hatchback for fun, sedan for comfort, overall good looking! Always a good Thomas review!

Aside from the colour of your tester I quite like the look of the hatch sportback. Did you find the steering wheel feel to be satisfactory? I don't notice the RS3 being stiffer or exhibit more discomfort or anything really. It's just overall a better car, if money isn't a concern. The only thing I can ding the RS3 for is that it does not look enough. It still looks mostly like an A3...like an S3.

Chris Abbott also this is a giant 1600kg whale on wheels... only fun in straight line... the last real fun hatchbacks are: Mini JCW 3 door, Renault Clio RS, Toyota GR Yaris etc... this Audi is bigger and heavier than an old Audi A4 from 2004-2008

Thomas I’m not one for the crossover crowd there’s enough of them already so to be totally different a nice new sporty 2 door Audi S3 would be perfect, except there aren’t any! They tell us there’s no demand for 2 door cars but the comments all over youtube there are plenty of us that want them. Young guys/gals want 2 doors they look way cooler but instead we end up looking like we have a famiileeee! and people actually assume that I want to give them a lift like I’m a taxi or something!

The sedan absolutely looks more composed than the hatch this time. Still, I think the inevitable mid-cycle refresh of this car is going to be leaps and bounds better. Word is that the Golf R is actually getting a more powerful engine than the hold-over engine in this S3, as well as some trick suspension components. Those things will invariably make their way into the Audi S3 after the RS3 gets some of them first, and I also suspect the interior will be re-jiggered a bit so some of the doofy choices (like the audio volume touchpad and these ridiculous vents) are remedied with superior solutions. The lighting elements and fascias will also return to a more refined and elegant appearance from their current gauche form. TL;DR: wait for 2023-2024 to get a new S3, or get the last of the outgoing model. P.S. Your phone looks like a piece of toast with that case.

Bought a S3 earlier this year, I think the previous generation looks better both interior and exterior. The new interior looks too much alike to the mk8 Golf, the previous generation exterior has sharper body lines.
