Rarely go over 100 kmph here and when you do it's not for long before you hit a speed bump, lots of rough roads and dirt roads... it's a beautiful place for varied riding and living on am motorcycle. I had an SYM 200 and that was almost enough, but couldn't carry a pillion. Now i have a 650 gs and it's too big, too heavy, and takes too much effort to do anything on as crowded as it can be here. For the long term I think it's a smart idea for BMW to go after a younger market. I noticed in a recent "live" video that all the customers checking out the GS at the motorcycle show were of a much older demographic. As for the bike I think it looks good other than the front tire.

@@barebonesmc The 19" tire fits a certain market of riders that "off road" means a fire lane, or 2 track jeep trail, but not hard core riding over logs. Also, their demographic is aging and as other channels have been pointing out, the riders of liter+ ADV bikes are downsizing as they age. This will keep those riders as BMW customers instead of seeing them sell their GS and buy a CF Moto or Kove. Many aging riders don't want or need the 21" tire. BTW. Keep up the great work!!!

Hi Ian. I quite like the look of this bike too style wise, but it is not the radiator cowling that I thought a bit out of place, it's tje belly pan/engine gaurd - it looks too low as it appears that the engine sit high in the frame (unless it's only the clutch and it has a deep sump?!) Talking about Rotax twins, I have an older BMW F800r that uses a 360° firing order - Husqvarna took this engine out to 900cc and adopted an unusual 315° crank in their Nuda 900. Any of your thoughts regarding the 315° firing order would be most welcome. Cheers!
@barebonesmcАй бұрын
The 315/45 degree firing order makes more sense and I can sort of see why it would cut primary but increase secondary vibration in theory. Not ridden a Nuda long enough to make proper comment really though tbh
@MrStr8denАй бұрын
@barebonesmc the vibration is a good point and as a considerating factor the 360° BMW/Rotax engine has a dummy con rod to ease vibration (it actually works quite well) and I wonder if this same arrangement would work as effectively for the 315° firing order; is this dummy con rod used only for primary vibration??

@@joshdoddadbodIt's a matter of fact that to get the same tyre contact patch with a 19 compared to a 21 means the tyre has to be wider which makes handling in mud and soft ground/sand considerably worse. It's not about issue, I have seen people riding a scooter on some of the most remote parts on what you can hardly call a path and they also made it home. 19 to 21 is a noticeable difference in ride quality off road, 19 can still do everything, it's just smoother on a 21. Still looking for the light 45hp 240mile sensible adv bike oh by the way BMW it only needs one cylinder, it seems there are only a few like me as nobody wants to make one for me. Kove i think kicked themselves in the ***** they should have made a adv version of their "racer" 450 just tone that rally down a bit for us 50+ year olds.
@barebonesmcАй бұрын
There is a lower version of the kove. Would that not suit you? BMW did do the X Country 450 single but it didn’t sell. Great bikes though
@bikenavbm1229Ай бұрын
@@barebonesmc think even the lower kove would be too tall for a wonky old short ass like myself, never seen one in the flesh , less racey engine single tank similar to the old ktm640adv, I think all that tank rally hype is overkill for us in europe, but then KTM about to fall out of the rally market who knows. BMW 450 yeh rare beasts no parts available for the motors appaerently in ccm guise would have been my bike if the kinks had been ironed out. Changes are coming for us less choice likely in the med term. keep up with the insights ta from wet Wales.

@@bikenavbm1229 lol. I like the 500 kove tbh. The one no one talks about. Think cb500x with better suspension 😊 proven. Sold as macbor Montana in Spain. That was one of Zhang xue’s designs

@@barebonesmc The 1970s and 80s were my decades for owning dirt bikes. I'm sure it would be a wonderful motorcycle and I would definitely look twice at a street only variant.
@barebonesmcАй бұрын
@@jimbroen being honest I think it will be a decent road bike as is. I like a high/commanding riding position in most situations these days 😊
@jimbroenАй бұрын
@@barebonesmc I'm sure it will be a very nice ride that I would enjoy immensely. I put about 16,000 km on six cylinder touring machine this summer. Over the same period I put 4300 km on a supermoto and 3000 km on an NC. I get to ride a lot. I'm of average height but I appreciate the higher seat height and upright riding position of the sumo. The market has several options for dual sport machines that I would be very happy riding around in my Canadian Prairie city. Although these options exist, the supermoto comes out of the box better suited to how I ride. The wheel, tire and suspension setup is a better choice for someone who doesn't willing go off road. The point I'm trying to make is that it's not possible for me to own and ride all the bikes I find compelling. I buy used so that my budget allows me to switch more often. As motorcycle enthusiasts we live in a very blessed time with an overwhelming amount of choice and that's a problem I don't mind having. I'd love to try a Streetfighter but it's never going to happen. There are far too many choices that are more pragmatic and affordable. KTM's current problems might lower the price of used Superdukes to the point where I could replace my ten year old well loved NC with orange. Time will tell.

@barebonesmcАй бұрын
I didn’t say drum brakes. But a cable clutch and throttle yes. What is it they say. Keep it simple 😊 ps. Anyone who disses drum brakes has obviously never ridden an old laverda sf or gt750. Or anything with a 4 leading shoe ceriani brake up front. And probably only uses stainless rotors on the discs too 😊

😮 I can't believe the nonsense of road bike companies like BMW. Coming from the dirt bike scene, all the manufacturers from Japan and KTM... Announce models in August, made available by October.. for the subsequent year of presented models available... BMW announcers the 450 that will be available at the end of 2025???? 😂 Why not sell seats to destination vacations on Mars? Maybe with guaranteed transportation by gas gas? Or a layover on the moon at the Husqvarna lounge?
