Excellent video. Thank you very much. I received my new DS2 after using a Dreamstation 1 for 5 years. I was plesantly surprised by the performance of the Dreamstation 2. The design of the reservoir and the fact that you can't open the reservoir without removing it is a big step backwards. Other than that it's ok. Wish they had just sent out Dreamstation 1 replacements without the foam though.

Looks like a cheap piece of junk. Also, the touchscreen does not look very responsive. Another big problem, if you opt not to use the humidifier, you still have the footprint of the humidifier making your machine unnecessarily larger. Other than the removal of toxic foam, this looks like a downgrade on DS1.🤨

I prefer the Dreamstation 1 (DS1). The humidifier tank design is harder to use on the DS2. Harder to get out and more flimsy. Overall the DS2 appears to be more cheaply made. The tube connection angle is fixed. It could be rotated on the DS1. The button is harder to press from your sleeping position. Sometimes it spits water out through the tube (when you fill it up to the line). It often runs out of water by morning (The DS1 also has this problem). It is a little quieter than the DS1. But overall I like the DS1 better. Looks like they rushed the design of the DS2.

Very unhappy with the DS2, as it is not nearly the machine the DS1 is. Glad that I followed the foam removal instructions on KZbin about 7 months ago, so I could continue using my DS1. After waiting for just over a year for a new one to arrive, a DS2 came. I have tried it & I am going to sell the DS2 on Craigslist. I won't be sending my old DS1 back to Phillips, as they inconvenienced me & Phillips Respironics jeopardized my health by making me wait an unacceptable length of time for a replacement.

The system one was designed much better! What were they thinking??? The filters are INSIDE so now there will be dust build up at the intake holes. The touch screen is HORRIBLE, not very responsive at all. Humidifier design is awful, and the machine can’t be operated without it. The tubing connection is on the front and fixed in place unlike the system one which was on top and swiveled. I’m very disappointed

Agree with everything. Also, the snap-on lid to the humidifier cannot be separated for cleaning. There is a spring mechanism inside so possibly it's not meant to be separated. But, will bacteria grow on the underside of the lid?

I like the Dreamstation 1. On Dreamstation 2, every breath you take can be heard, the air coming in through the filter holes is not quiet. I like viewing the graph on version 1 to see how much rest that I got when I shut it off. No pre-heat function on version 2. Although it looks nicer, it’s not an upgrade in my opinion! I was forced to take this one due to the recall on the older one. I’m not very happy with this one. Resmed Airsense 10 would be a better choice, outside of the Dreamstation 1.

Received my DreamStation 2 a few weeks ago. I like the fact that it is smaller and quieter. But...there are a few flaws in its design. The water chamber is a pain in the ass...First of all, it is smaller and after about 7 hours of sleep, it's empty. Filling the chamber is alleyways a mess as water spills always. My biggest disappointment is that with this new machine, I can't use my SoClean (unless there is a way and I haven't figured it out). The previous DreamStation, had the water chamber just below the hose attachment, so the adapter for the SoClean with its small hose could fit right in and do its job, every morning....Now...there is no way that I can see, for the SoClean to be hooked up. Anyway...not really thrilled with it but it works I suppose. Roberto

Basically the Dream Station 2 (black) CPAP Machine is just a cheap made model Phillips is replacing the white Dream Station 1 models with to alleviate judgments against them. The Dream Station 1 machine was robust and hearty and one didn't have to worry about it falling off your bedside table at night. It held a full nights water reserve and had a swivel attached from Phillips. The air volume could be set up to 16 for large and needy people. It was easy to fill and clean. The Dream Station 1 seems to be far superior to the new model but has the toxic foam problem. Here are some of my first impressions of getting the new Dream Station 2 that this commentator is making good comments about. Different people have different needs and wants so really think this over before making your choice. And I hadn't fired the Dream Station 2 before writing the following comments: The biggest problem they did not state is that Phillips new replacement machine, i.e. Dream Station 2, is a much cheaper made machine and any filters and etc. you have will not fit on the new machine. The hoses are smaller diameter and will not be sufficient for large people. The water tank is smaller, so requires frequent filling. There is no swivel fitting so your hose goes straight out, instead of being able to swivel towards your bed. The machine is all black and difficult for us elderly to see in the night. A couple of the hoses and attachments did not come with the new machine.

I have one of these machines and am brand new to CPAP. Never thought I could tolerate one. At the hospital during an overnight titration test, I felt like I was being waterboarded with air, like I was drowning in it. Thanks to the ramp settings, that is over. Just had my first night with it and went smoothly. My AHI was super low whereas before it was very high, so I guess it's working. Soooo quiet. Wife is delighted. Of the reviews I watched, yours is quite good at explaining various elements. Thanks for that. Was looking for that Flex setting info. Man, the comments are unkind but much of 'em seem very nitpicky. How hard is it to pull out the reservoir? Seemed awfully easy to me but maybe if someone is laden with arthritis it would be a concern. I had no trouble and can put a 16oz bottle of distilled water in the nightstand drawer. The small size means I can take it with me for work travel. Anyway, I just needed a good starter machine and, since I just got thru my first night with success, I'm quite pleased to say the least.

Thank you for a very informative video, much more useful than what Philips provides. We just received my husband's recall replacement DS2 a few days ago and have been working through all the instructions etc in order to try it out for the first time tonight. I understand the chief complaint of so many people about the inconvenient humidifier, but am hopeful we can live with that. However, I am wondering about a couple of things related to cleaning the machine, which is my part of the operation. Someone asked about how to clean (or should we be concerned about) the passageway that runs back through the machine from the humidifier to the air outlet port for the tubing. It is indeed much longer than the "passage" on the original Dreamstation. Is there any better answer than "well, if you just clean all the rest of the machine daily as Philips recommends you won't have a problem"? Frankly, we never cleaned the old DS humidifier daily, just weekly with vinegar and distilled water, and never had a problem. I am willing to wash the darn humidifier every day or every other day if necessary. However, this longer passageway does concern me. Any thoughts? Also, the Philips instructions just tell you to wipe off the "humidifier air inlet/outlet seal" daily with a cloth dampened with a little mild cleaning solution. I've tried that already and it's pretty hard to get into the nooks and crannies of that seal while it's in place, so I'm a little worried about how sanitary it will be. I saw one other review on the internet that mentioned removing it to wash but it didn't show how to remove. Do you have any insight on whether this is possible or a good idea? Thanks again for this video, and any thoughts about my questions.

Thanks for watching. The only thing that I could potentially recommend would be a tube brush. Link below. But, you still should use any chemicals inside there. The only other option would be a CPAP Ozone Cleaner, but you should use your own judgement to decide if that is a good plan for you. Very good points Ceb - but the presenter said that you could disable the modem via programing (who's right?). In the Dreamstation 1, I just took the modem physically out (don't want radiation going on regular). Hope the new Resmed is an improvement, not a plus and minus features scenario like the new DS2. Truly is a shame Philips as your previous System One and Dreamstation 1 unit were very good and solid anmd looked good - two steps forward and one back

9. Hose is not heated which is a huge step back from modern cough cpaps. 10. DEAL BREAKER, not ADA compliant for the visually impaired/blind. The touch menu is completely inecessable denying privacy for the patient as nothing can be changed or confirmed as correct making the patient dependant to others. 11. DEAL BREAKER, not compatible with OSCAR due to the encryption on the SD card. No idea known if this encryption will be cracked for OSCAR usage. 12. Speaking of the SD card, machine won't work without that original card, the encryption key is on that card, think UEFI from Intell chips, so don't lose it. I'm going to try to see if I can get a refund as this machine is a nogo for me.

Just got mine this week due to the recall. So far it works ok. I like the sleek look but I didn't mind the medical equipment look of the first model, because it is a medical device. Takes up less room on my nightstand. The replacement filters I bought are now useless and the new ones are more expensive. I liked the previous removable water tank. This one is kind of a pain to remove and install. It feels fragile, I'm concerned I'll break it. The touchscreen is somewhat frustrating to use but once you have it set up it's not an issue. So according to Respironics that passageway does not need regular cleaning as long as you keep the water reservoir clean. That means emptying the chamber and cleaning it daily, as well as a weekly deep clean that can be done in the top rack of the dishwasher. My opinion is similar. If you empty the chamber daily and allow it to air dry, you should have very little issue. This is a similar setup to the airsense cpap from resmed, and we haven't had any issues with the cleanliness of that CPAP passageway over the years.

I just used my new DreamStation 2 last night. At first, I thought I wasn't getting as much airflow as I'm used to having and not knowing how to adjust it, I just left all the settings as is. I really did not notice any difference between this and the other DreamStation that was recalled. I see what you mean about the reservoir being a pain to handle vs. the other one. But I like that it takes up less space and the tote bag is smaller and the whole thing lighter and so I prefer that.

I just received this device due to the Phillips recall. I found your video very helpful in terms of the options available while using it. I have been using it now for a few weeks with pretty good results. Setting-up the Bluetooth was a bit of an issue, as the instructions to add the information on the card from the older device, didn’t transfer to DreamMapper. The DreamMapper will only use certain masks to record the data, so I have had to try several to find something I am comfortable with. That has been a good thing as I just watched your other video about discontinued masks. I have been wearing the same mask brand/style for 20 years, and it’s now history. My device came with the smaller heated tubing, and found I needed to increase the pressure to make it feel consistent with what I was experiencing before. Thank you for the information as it’s good to know a place where I can get answers quickly.

Unfortunately I would have to say that time will tell. It is designed to last about 5 years. Philips makes quality products. So I don’t expect that there will be any durability issues. I really dislike the Dreamstation 2 compared to the Dreamstation 1. To remove the tank, I have to pick up and remove the unit from my nightstand. Because the power cord runs under the unit, it gets loose. Then I have to try to wrangle a reservoir full of water back into it without spilling, and place it back into the nightstand. I basically never use the humidity any more because of this. On the Dreamstation 1, the reservoir just popped up and you could remove/replace the reservoir without ever having to pick up the machine. The Dreamstation 1 seemed much more solidly made, whereas the Dreamstation 2 seems cheap and lightweight. Much better and more accurate (negative reviews) available on youtube. I am going to buy the competitor today, even though this dreamstation 2 is new. The dreamstation 1 was better designed, but recalled for foam deterioriation and health issues. the replacment was the dreamstation 2, which they had to give away as replacements and appears to be built cheaply as a result. I have to remove the humidifier, then open a top that completely detaches, and then put everything back together. Just inconvenient. The black color is probably intentional so we don’t see the black pieces of insulation falling apart like we could see on the white previous model. The tube on the front don’t swivel like the previous. It is stuck facing forward. Another inconvenience. It does not feel like having the same pressure. I will have to buff it up. In your presentation, you did not mention anything about what to so with chip. Do I take the chip from the old machine out and insert in the new machine? Would it adjust all the parameters automatically, or do I need to note down the settings from my old machine and manually set those on the new machine? Also, it would be helpful if you provide instructions on how to set up and use the App. I am assuming it is necessary to use the App.

Hi. I'm trying to sync my DreamStation 2 to the DreamMapper app. It says to turn off the blower. How do I do that? There doesn't seem to be anything in the manual that explains how to do that

You should be able to just hit the On/Off big round button to turn the blower off.

I received this as a replacement for Dreamstaion 1 recall. I am having an issue with the SD memory card. This machine did not come with one. I bought a Phillips Respironics replacement. When I try to access the information for compliance , the Dream mapper software keeps saying the card is corrupt. I have replaced it with another memory card from the company, and with a SanDisc, same corruption notice. Anyone else with this problem? I need to have printed compliance records.

You can use a generic SD card on that unit. You must get a pretty large capacity one though.

Every 2-4 weeks...crap. They really should have a setting that reminds folks to change the filter. Do you think it's drop proof? I've yanked it off the night stand multiple times and now wonder if it even functions correctly.

You can enable a reminder on the CPAP I think. If it is turning on and running then it survived. No error codes on screen = good to go.

I can't believe you aren't a paid promoter. I received mine today and it is absolutely the worst machine I have ever used and considering I've been using one since the turn of the century, that's saying something. The deal breaker is the fact that it is horribly noisy when breathing in - completely unacceptable in this era. T he mandatory and awkward tank assembly is just ridiculous - I don't feel like playing Jenga in the dark at midnight! Who would design something like this when ergonomics is the hallmark of modern design? The display is tiny and hard to hit cleanly and I can't see the screen while lying prone as with DS 1. It feels cheap and I can see several points where plastic pins are likely to break. This machine is going back. So disappointed after waiting a year for the recall to be completed.

The dream station 2 sucks. With my DS1 I would get more air and it worked. I wake up feeling like I didn’t get any sleep now. The touch screen is garbage, the old one was higher quality and I could edit everything especially in admin mode. The old one is more user friendly. This new one is a piece of junk. The only positive is it is more quiet.

I just got this replacement CPAP. It is certainly a downgrade. I can’t even use it until I take it clear across town…according to them to set up. I am so sad that my new CPAP is such a downgrade. It is cheap hard plastic. I saw another video in which the gentleman took the new machine apart and the white filter inside the machine fell apart just by him rubbing his fingers on it. Are we going to discover this filter breaks down and causes cancer too? Ugh…I hope this machine works as I start to use it but right now…I am very disappointed in his machine.

Is this a new setup or a recall machine situation?

I just received my replacement CPAP Dreamstation 2. But it’s asking me to return my original recalled unit. That unit caused me medical issues that required me to discontinue use even prior to the recall notice. Should I have to return that unit, since I paid for it and own it…with the potential of it causing me possible permanently medical issues, or should I hold on to it foe evidence of defective material for litigation should I be diagnosed with serious effects from using it.
