Excellent video. Thank you very much. I received my new DS2 after using a Dreamstation 1 for 5 years. I was plesantly surprised by the performance of the Dreamstation 2. The design of the reservoir and the fact that you can't open the reservoir without removing it is a big step backwards. Other than that it's ok. Wish they had just sent out Dreamstation 1 replacements without the foam though.

I just received this device due to the Phillips recall. I found your video very helpful in terms of the options available while using it. I have been using it now for a few weeks with pretty good results. Setting-up the Bluetooth was a bit of an issue, as the instructions to add the information on the card from the older device, didn’t transfer to DreamMapper. The DreamMapper will only use certain masks to record the data, so I have had to try several to find something I am comfortable with. That has been a good thing as I just watched your other video about discontinued masks. I have been wearing the same mask brand/style for 20 years, and it’s now history. My device came with the smaller heated tubing, and found I needed to increase the pressure to make it feel consistent with what I was experiencing before. Thank you for the information as it’s good to know a place where I can get answers quickly.

Just got mine this week due to the recall. So far it works ok. I like the sleek look but I didn't mind the medical equipment look of the first model, because it is a medical device. Takes up less room on my nightstand. The replacement filters I bought are now useless and the new ones are more expensive. I liked the previous removable water tank. This one is kind of a pain to remove and install. It feels fragile, I'm concerned I'll break it. The touchscreen is somewhat frustrating to use but once you have it set up it's not an issue. It doesn't really matter if I like this one better or not as long as it works.

I have one of these machines and am brand new to CPAP. Never thought I could tolerate one. At the hospital during an overnight titration test, I felt like I was being waterboarded with air, like I was drowning in it. Thanks to the ramp settings, that is over. Just had my first night with it and went smoothly. My AHI was super low whereas before it was very high, so I guess it's working. Soooo quiet. Wife is delighted. Of the reviews I watched, yours is quite good at explaining various elements. Thanks for that. Was looking for that Flex setting info. Man, the comments are unkind but much of 'em seem very nitpicky. How hard is it to pull out the reservoir? Seemed awfully easy to me but maybe if someone is laden with arthritis it would be a concern. I had no trouble and can put a 16oz bottle of distilled water in the nightstand drawer. The small size means I can take it with me for work travel. Anyway, I just needed a good starter machine and, since I just got thru my first night with success, I'm quite pleased to say the least.

Thank you for a very informative video, much more useful than what Philips provides. We just received my husband's recall replacement DS2 a few days ago and have been working through all the instructions etc in order to try it out for the first time tonight. I understand the chief complaint of so many people about the inconvenient humidifier, but am hopeful we can live with that. However, I am wondering about a couple of things related to cleaning the machine, which is my part of the operation. Someone asked about how to clean (or should we be concerned about) the passageway that runs back through the machine from the humidifier to the air outlet port for the tubing. It is indeed much longer than the "passage" on the original Dreamstation. Is there any better answer than "well, if you just clean all the rest of the machine daily as Philips recommends you won't have a problem"? Frankly, we never cleaned the old DS humidifier daily, just weekly with vinegar and distilled water, and never had a problem. I am willing to wash the darn humidifier every day or every other day if necessary. However, this longer passageway does concern me. Any thoughts? Also, the Philips instructions just tell you to wipe off the "humidifier air inlet/outlet seal" daily with a cloth dampened with a little mild cleaning solution. I've tried that already and it's pretty hard to get into the nooks and crannies of that seal while it's in place, so I'm a little worried about how sanitary it will be. I saw one other review on the internet that mentioned removing it to wash but it didn't show how to remove. Do you have any insight on whether this is possible or a good idea? Thanks again for this video, and any thoughts about my questions.

I like viewing the graph on version 1 to see how much rest that I got when I shut it off. No pre-heat function on version 2. Although it looks nicer, it’s not an upgrade in my opinion! That might be the best question so far. I am going to speak with Respironics today and get their recommendation. I've got my ideas on that, but let me get you the official answer before my opinion.
@CPAPmyway3 жыл бұрын
So according to Respironics that passageway does not need regular cleaning as long as you keep the water reservoir clean. That means emptying the chamber and cleaning it daily, as well as a weekly deep clean that can be done in the top rack of the dishwasher. My opinion is similar. If you empty the chamber daily and allow it to air dry, you should have very little issue. This is a similar setup to the airsense cpap from resmed, and we haven't had any issues with the cleanliness of that CPAP passageway over the years.

I prefer the Dreamstation 1 (DS1). The humidifier tank design is harder to use on the DS2. Harder to get out and more flimsy. Overall the DS2 appears to be more cheaply made. The tube connection angle is fixed. It could be rotated on the DS1. The button is harder to press from your sleeping position. Sometimes it spits water out through the tube (when you fill it up to the line). It often runs out of water by morning (The DS1 also has this problem). It is a little quieter than the DS1. But overall I like the DS1 better. Looks like they rushed the design of the DS2.

The water tank is smaller and starting the first night, on humidifier setting 3, the default, it ran out of water. On the DS1, level 5, I never ran out of water before I awoke. 2. There is no longer a pre-heat feature which very handy in the winter months. As for your comment about ramp settings not available on the DS1, there was access in the advanced settings. Now, on the first DS1, you enter advanced settings on the basic menu. On my second DS1 they removed the advanced menu access. However, I eventually figured out how to get into the advanced menu on the newer edition. As a side note, it only took me 1 minute to get into the advanced settings of the DS2.

Received my DreamStation 2 a few weeks ago. I like the fact that it is smaller and quieter. But...there are a few flaws in its design. The water chamber is a pain in the ass...First of all, it is smaller and after about 7 hours of sleep, it's empty. Filling the chamber is alleyways a mess as water spills always. My biggest disappointment is that with this new machine, I can't use my SoClean (unless there is a way and I haven't figured it out). The previous DreamStation, had the water chamber just below the hose attachment, so the adapter for the SoClean with its small hose could fit right in and do its job, every morning....Now...there is no way that I can see, for the SoClean to be hooked up. Anyway...not really thrilled with it but it works I suppose. Roberto

But I like that it takes up less space and the tote bag is smaller and the whole thing lighter and so I prefer that.

Basically the Dream Station 2 (black) CPAP Machine is just a cheap made model Phillips is replacing the white Dream Station 1 models with to alleviate judgments against them. The Dream Station 1 machine was robust and hearty and one didn't have to worry about it falling off your bedside table at night. It held a full nights water reserve and had a swivel attached from Phillips. The air volume could be set up to 16 for large and needy people. It was easy to fill and clean. The Dream Station 1 seems to be far superior to the new model but has the toxic foam problem. Here are some of my first impressions of getting the new Dream Station 2 that this commentator is making good comments about. Different people have different needs and wants so really think this over before making your choice. And I hadn't fired the Dream Station 2 before writing the following comments: The biggest problem they did not state is that Phillips new replacement machine, i.e. Dream Station 2, is a much cheaper made machine and any filters and etc. you have will not fit on the new machine. The hoses are smaller diameter and will not be sufficient for large people. The water tank is smaller, so requires frequent filling. There is no swivel fitting so your hose goes straight out, instead of being able to swivel towards your bed. The machine is all black and difficult for us elderly to see in the night. A couple of the hoses and attachments did not come with the new machine.

The system one was designed much better! What were they thinking??? The filters are INSIDE so now there will be dust build up at the intake holes. The touch screen is HORRIBLE, not very responsive at all. Humidifier design is awful, and the machine can’t be operated without it. The tubing connection is on the front and fixed in place unlike the system one which was on top and swiveled. I’m very disappointed

Nice simple presentation, thanks. I have been using the old DreamStation for a few years. Now I have a new DreamStation 2. I want to start using the new machine. In your presentation, you did not mention anything about what to so with chip. Do I take the chip from the old machine out and insert in the new machine? Would it adjust all the parameters automatically, or do I need to note down the settings from my old machine and manually set those on the new machine? Also, it would be helpful if you provide instructions on how to set up and use the App. I am assuming it is necessary to use the App.

Thanks for watching! The new machine should come with the settings preset for you. You can put the SD card in the new unit, but it will overwrite all the old data with your new data from the new CPAP. Just got my replacement yesterday, have not used it yet, wanted to watch some videos before setting it up and using it, Thanks for this one. My first out of the box impression is the humidifier is going to be a big pain in the butt. I use my cpap an average of 8 hours a night with the humidifier on the highest setting, 5, to somewhat avoid cottonmouth (I use full face). As such I always need to top it off in the middle of the night when I get up to go to the bathroom or it will run dry. That's not good, the smell of warming plastic stinks, pun intended. with my original dreamstation the refill is easy and can be done with one hand while half asleep. My other complaint is the location of the info screen, I could always read the original while still laying in bed. When I wake from time to time I like to see what pressure I am getting, a simple press of the big knob gave me that info, could also adjust settings while laying in bed as needed so I didn't wake fully because of physically getting out of bed. As a few others have said, I see this unit as a big step backwards, while it may "look" nicer to some, I personally care more about being user friendly than how it looks, and without even using it yet, it appears it isn't. On another note, I'm hoping I can simply pop the SD card out of the original and use it in the new one, no real info on that here. Thanks again for the video, now off to watch some others.
