Wow, I love that color. I have a Schwinn Continental from the early '70s that is in Sunset Orange that is a similar color. Looks like we just cost me a lot of money, lol. I'll be visiting the nearest Vespa dealer next week.

Great videos Robot, can see your passion and enthusiasm for all things scooter 🛵 related. Hoping for some quick advice. Narrowed my search down to a Buddy 50 (lil international) and the Piaggio Liberty 50. As much as I’d love a Vespa it’s out of my price range. The Genuine & Piaggio seem to be equal price wise. I live in a highly congested area and will only be using the scooter for quick trips around the city. Any recommendations on those two I mentioned? Any others I should look at? Appreciate any advice.

Both scooters that we trust and sell at our dealership. If your'e looking for a Vespa, without the price, can't beat the Piaggio. It has the same motor and performance as the Vespa equivalent.The Buddy has a little bit more classic styling similar to the Vespa and a little less aggressive look than Piaggio. Lots of mixed reports regarding rust. We believe it's mostly dependent on your local roads and weather conditions. Even with a lot of beach cities here, we have not experienced the major frame rust that some people have.

My only improvement wish for the two Vespas I own would be to increase the fuel fill diameter to help prevent splash back. I just don’t have much luck not spilling fuel down the side....

Try by dollar amount, I usually don't go over $4/5 and try to gas up @ a quarter of tank.

My 07 GTV will take right at 1.7 gallons after the yellow light comes on. I don’t think you can fill one of these cleanly in CA by holding the nozzle in like a car. You just have to slip it in a little over an inch and hold the evap cover up with your free hand. Fill at medium speed to 1.5, then stop and just dribble the rest of the way. As soon as you see gas coming up the stem, STOP. I still spill now and then depending on how controllable the gas pump is so I agree, it’s a bad design. But it can be mitigated somewhat and it’s nice to see the new tray with drain hole. That said, my gray paint has never been affected by spilled gas.

Take the bucket out. Hold the handle over the engine. This puts the pipe in the correct location for minimal splash-back. STOP filling the first time the handle kicks off. Don’t try to fill beyond. 4 GTS, 10 years, over 80,000 kms. It works.

Why does Vespa not provide a foot pedal brake like they did decades ago? Loosening your grip on the handle bars to operate the brakes seems counter intuitive and unsafe.

Those old Vespas had a manual gearbox so they needed a brake pedal as the left lever on the bars was the clutch.
