If you'll have time for it, you could make the building sprites have some ambient occlusion or something similar, - right now they look a little flat. E.g. I'd expect the interior of machines to be darker that the exterior, etc.

Would be a neat addition is to add a short turn off time and a longer startup time to machines. Adds a bit of realism and keeps players from mashing on/off (though this probably isn’t even an advantage currently).

Great progress so far! And hope you are doing fine! One thing that I noticed: an icon for ID tool looks more like a search tool. Personally, I would expect it, to be either some form of FAQ help or a search tool for items to build by item name. Do you think maybe an eyedropper or something like this would be more suitable?
@justingolden213 жыл бұрын
UX: the three newly added toggle buttons should have a title that displays when hovered, rather than trying to decipher the icons or try them out and observe what changes. Love all the work going into this game : )

A suggestion/improvement: having a button to turn on tool tips seems... tedious? I know that’s a very small thing to call tedious but I feel like it’s something people will use a lot (but also not want on all the time, as you said). Because of this maybe have it turn on simply when holding down shift, or something similar to that (you could keep the buttons there too, just add hot keys) You could also use this same concept for the other buttons (lumber interface/island map), as these will probably be used quite often too. In summary: forcing the player to move the mouse to a certain location for these buttons that will be used quite often is tedious. Instead, there should be a hot key that could open those menus. Even better, keep the buttons there, have it show a tooltip showing the hot key for each one respectively when you hover over it, using your tooltip class, this way someone will always know what the hot key is to open each menu :)

You dont have to stress about YT or This game your health is way more important, i hope you get better quickly and with ease. just a thought* i wanted to ask if you ever think of adding liveable buildings into the game. like a 1x2 or 2x2 sized house that houses multiple people. a 2 storey house? a large tent 2x2 maybe. As there is an underground area maybe a bunker or basement?. what if you research the house, but not buy it with money but instead 5 stone(Foundation), 50 plank(Roof,walls,ceiling), 10 log(Supports).

I think the magnifying glass doesn't work well for the ID tool, maybe an 'i' for information would work better? For me, that sounds more like searching for some object in the world instead of displaying information about it.
@BWDev3 жыл бұрын
For me the magnifying glass in this context represents close inspection, but I see your point about it also meaning to search. I’ll consider changing it, but I think people will very quickly gather what the button does by toggling it either way
