Definitely. Car companies have been doing concept cars forever, but this is basically the first time I’ve ever seen one actually try and make it into something tangible. I still wish they kept the bright red stripe, but this version is not too bad. I think the white on silver colorway looks so much better on this design. Also the Elantra design is bonkers in all the right ways. They even got the racing stripe on the cloth seats.

I find the turning signals on the front (too thin and too less contrast to daylight driving light) and on the back (too low) very easy to overlook. Apart from that a very nice car presented in a very competent way. Thank you!

I’m negative about it because it could have been so much better. Every car is Color+black+chrome and most cars only come in white, grey, black, and red. Its so boring. Even when a car does two toned its always black on the top and looks basically the same as the single tone version. There is so much black trim on cars that the black can get lost. Also gloss black is just straight up a terrible color, gloss black ruins any type of shaping, just look at a black Elantra, it looks like a normal sedan but in a different color like in grey it looks spaceaged. The habinero concept looked so much better. Anyway, the full EV version of the Niro looks amazing with the white on silver. Also, to make this design work they made the turn signals super low to the ground, so if you get a color matched version its the worst of both worlds, it looks like a normal SUV but with weird turn signal backend.

(I commented before on the Bolt, but Niro is my true interest!) Another stellar review AP! I've been watching a lot of reviews of both the 1st and 2nd gen Niro Hybrid (here in the US we don't have the new gen yet, as you surely know) and oddly, despite the seeming improvements, I don't need the extra size (would like extra height, the one dimension that they couldn't change due to aerodynamics!) and really prefer the old dash design. I currently have a new gen Soul with 8-in screen which does the job, especially as most things can't take advantage of the larger screens, and mostly I don't need it to show 2 things. I also find the separate controls with knobs way preferable than having to mess with a screen so much while driving. Tesla seems to have forced our tastes here. I also like the floor mounter shifter, as I drove stick shifts for many years, and prefer only one hand on the wheel. While I don't expect you to care about my tastes, I am setting up a question here: As a Soul driver (and hey, this new Niro pretty much stole my front end! 😄) I really like how quiet it is inside, a mostly 'compliant' ride, and awesome handling. The 1st gen Niro reviews put the Soul notable ahead of the Niro in pretty much all aspects of ride quality. I want to know your experience between the 1st and 2nd gen Niro noise and handling. I haven't noticed any other features that excite me, and most likely that same drive-train is taking a hit in both acceleration and fuel economy for the extra weight of the vehicle.

The builder for the new Niro is now live on the Kia UK website. The contrasting C-pillar is only available on the top trim (and has a 150-pound upcharge). The gray trim around the wheels and along the side is only available on the EV (not other versions). While it is not as sexy at the EV6, I'd consider it as a more affordable way to get into an EV, with great practicality and lots of desirable features. I do like the distinctiveness of the contrasting C-pillar (blue body with black blade would be my pick) but don't expect to see too many configured that way.

It depends on what do You mean by "a lot" - the Niro has been on the market since 2016 in EU, but I don't see them 1/10th as often as Toyota CHR. I own a Niro myself, so I tend to spot them instantly ;) I'm 38 and I feel as I'm the youngest person driving this model :D The demographic for the old Niro is 50+ from my observations. The new model is a looker and I hope that will bump the sales to finally compete with the CHR Hybrid on even terms... Well Toyota wins at efficiency, but not by that much. At least the new design is standing out... until you park it next to the new Sportage :D

Looking to buy a new car for next year. I'm torn between 2023 Niro PHEV and 2023 Prius Prime. I'm an uber and delivery driver full time, and I go snowboarding A LOT during winter and spring. I think getting a PHEV is the way to go. But not sure which one to get. I do plan on sleeping in the car in Spring snowboard trips, so Niro's bigger room may help. But I feel like Prius is in the game for so long, and their car must be very reliable long term. (and better resale value).

Are there other brand new Kias with the steering wheel controls on the reverse side? Or are we just talking about last generation cars like Stinger and the 2021 and earlier Sportage? I think the cruise controls on the left side is actually rather intuitive. Kia has a really interesting feature where you can just _pause_ the cruise control rather than turning it off entirely like most cars, where you'll then have to get back up to speed and set it again. I think a lot of the relaxed, one-handed drivers will have one hand/arm either resting on their gear selector, or their armrest, and the hand that remains on the steering wheel, usually left, can easily handle all of the automation adjustment controls of the car, and their right foot can just be on standby for emergencies. People probably need to adjust their volume and track far less often than they'd need to adjust how they handle traffic conditions. It took some getting used to, but I do like and I think, prefer, the orientation that they've begun using on later Kias such as mine. I don't know if these controls get reversed for RHD markets though. If not I suppose that's a "them" problem for doing it wrong lol.

Great review, I really enjoyed it. Two questions. First, we have a Skoda Yeti now. How is the new Kia Niro comparing to it when going in and out of the vehicle? We love the Yetis height, as we are not so young and it's very easy to enter/exit the vehicle. The Niro seems to be LOWER. Is the experience when entering/exiting closer to as Crossover or closer to a normal car experience ? Does it have good enough clearance when parking near high curbs? With normal cars we bump into those very easily. Second of all what do you think about Kia not changing the engines in the new Niro? I am a bit afraid it's a pity they didn't use the turbo engine here to get more active protection while in danger. Thank you very much for your time! P.S Thanks for telling me your exact height. My son is as high as you so now I can know which car will be comfortable for him as well :-) !

yes the yeti is higher , we got into a new Niro the other day and its pretty similar to a 10 year old toyota corolla in size and entry height. Its a car really, it is not an "SUV " - this SUV label that seems to be trendy at the moment given to too many cars that aren't...its a 5 door hatchback

C-Bar bend on the production Niro looks better designed and integrated than on the concept, the front half matches with the door angle and the rear half with the hatch/bumper area. Even looking at it it at 3/4 rear view is just right. Lovely extrovert design with the new fascia and just the overall style of new Niro in general.

Can you open/close the trunk with your key or smartphone ? It's available in the Sportage but there's no foot opening trunk unfortunately. In the Sportage in opens with presence detection, can be annoying if you stay behind the car.

Love the 2nd generation (interieur of the 1st one was too dark) bue i rellay dont understand why KIA like to put flashers on the bumper. This is no make sens and it lt should be forbiden.. Living in Canada, i ask myself about the air intakes on the winter! Thanks for ur job

Any news on the PHEV model? Have they released official spec and price list? Still fingers crossed it would come with electrical AWD option similar to Corolla Cross Hybrid and thats why its delayed. Spec vise KIA would't even need to increase electrical motor power in the front compared to HEV, just add extra motor in the back. Next time you have a change could you ask KIA and give us an update?

Interior is similar to Kia Carnival , but looks smarter than Kia carnival and i’m stunning with design of this car , it’s looks gorgeous .

Yes, it is definitely smaller compared to all new Kia Carnival. But yes, this all new Kia Niro looks much better.

I am about 6.2 and headroom wise, I had no problem from the 1st row seats, so you should be fine with all new Kia Niro. Thanks.
