Kia and Hyundai are paired companies. The models you mentioned are more like cousins than competitors. I’m not certain but I think they have about 4-5 models that they share with their own slight variant I.e. Telluride-Palisade, Ioniq5-EV6 to name a few.

I recently purchased a Niro HEV and the styling is fantastic and a very comfortable ride. Accurate MPG is a bit of a fable. If you live in the northern states and the temp is below 40 degrees F you will not obtain the projected MPG. Also, the more options you add to your Niro, the lower your projected MPG will be. That being said if your climate is 50 degrees F plus and you purchase a base model it’s not a bad ride…especially if you’re not in a hurry.

If it only had AWD and a bit more pep. 130HP seems pretty low. A more fair comparison might be to compare this to the Toyota C-HR or Corolla Cross or the Honda HR-V. I think the RAV4 is in a different category and probably targeting a different market demographic. But this vehicle is definitely more interesting than any of those, (RAV4 included) that's for sure! I had a chevy spark 2017 which had 130hp. It was faster than the cross and the CHR. It was also close to the rav4 base on speed 1.4 mile and 2 second short of the rav 4. This will beat them because of the battery start off.💯👊

@Jeff B All the current subcompact CUVs you mentioned are competitive to the Seltos, not the Niro. As of right now, the Subaru Crosstrek Plug-in is partially rival to the Niro until the rest of the competitors catch up. If you need more power, you will need to buy the Niro Plug-in Hybrid & Electric. AWD is not available on the Niro & Kona Hybrid (yes, it will be coming to the US).

Hey Joe and Lori, and also the Raiti's Rides family, how are y'all doing today? 😃 So today review is about the "all new" Kia Niro, which was fully redesign for 2022 with "newer" electric opciones like the " *standard* "(I think) hybrid model and a fully electric model that can do an est. 253 miles per charge. Anyways this new redesign made it more quirky and fun compare to the previous generation (which was like a a Lia Sportage, but uglier), anyways this new Kia Niro is interesting and reminds me of how Kia change from the brand that nobody wanted, to now people overpay for them. Besides that what is your favorite Compact crossover SUV, is it a ICE, hybrid, or fully electric? (Please let me know 😁) (Besides that this isn't a in detail comment, "Like always *ON* *THROTTLE* ")

I have a 2018 Niro hybrid, and hope to replace it with a 2023. I don't care for the contrasting "C" pillar, or the low-level rear lights / turn signals, etc. Otherwise, I like the design, both inside and out, and my 2018 has been rock-solid reliable.

I just traded in my 2020 KIA Soul GT line and bought a KIA NIRO LXS and surprisingly it has so much more than my KIA Soul GT line had. My only zonk is at almost a $28,000 sticker price it doesn’t have any heated or ventilated seats. That’s a zonk

Biggest zonk is the reverse backup alarm that you cannot disable unless you pull out the circuit breaker for it or mess with the wiring. Others said you have to remove something on the back bumper and disconnect it. The only problem with that is you risk voiding your warranty. I just think it’s ridiculous that they put a extremely loud backup alarm on a vehicle and you can’t turn it off or turn it down in the vehicles computer where you go to view and change things in your dashboard cluster.

Traditional Hybrids are the way to go for the next 5-10 years!! Plug ins are sluggish and most people don't have a charging option at home 350+ Mile range & Readily available charging stations are what we need, until then, EVs other than Tesla will lag

A very practical car, that will sell very well indeed. Overall the styling is very modern and clean. Hideous black stripe on the side is inexplicable. Kia/Hyundai are really giving the Japanese a run for their money. Consumers benefit from this intense competition. I expect this model to undercut the RAV4 and CRV hybrids by at least 5k, so as to tempt buyers.

I believe you can spec it with that section color matched. It will surely undercut the hybrid versions of those cars by quite a bit but the Niro will not offer AWD

I have a 2020 Niro and I love it. It's not a RAV4 though. Entirely different type of car. The Niro is much closer to a Prius V, which is no longer made. The car does Prius things better than a Prius does (I also own a Prius,) but it can't be compared to a RAV4. It's not even AWD/4WD. Different animals.

I had a Hyundai ( yes I know not the same but yes it is). And it’s crazy to to think you can compare Toyota to Kia/ Hyundai there in a different league. Hyundai seemed to be slapped together unlike the Toyota. YES the Hyundai/ Kia’s look good but that’s it. Plus the advantage of resell value. No comparison! They’re is a reason why Toyotas have better resale.

I do think it's a good idea for Kia to have the Niro in addition to the EV6 because it provides a less expensive option to Kia buyers, plus it also provides a vehicle with different styling for those who don't care for the looks of the EV6. All in all, I think it's great to have choices, so KUDOS to Kia! 😄 By the way, I am very surprised you did not point out the USB ports installed on the two front seats when you were sitting in the rear seat. Those ports are super handy and well placed!

I drive an older Hyundai which has been as close to a perfect car for the 15 years that I have owned it. However, I am leery to buy a Kia or Hyundai product due to the fact that at least in the area that I live (Milwaukee, WI) they account for more than half of the stolen vehicles. Apparently they are incredibly easy to steal. Milwaukee has actually considered legal action against the company due to the nuisance that this problem has created. Chrysler had a similar problem years ago. When I was still working in the collision industry I remember one customers vehicle being stolen 3 times in a year.

So when it comes to the Niro I think I actually like the old design better. The front design is alright, but the back end I'm not digging at all, doesn't really go with the rest of the line up. I'm definitely going to zonk the heck out of that huge piece of gloss black, looks totally out of place. What was Kia thinking!? The flat black design the side of the vehicle would of been better if was maybe like a textured design and diffrent color, like on the Kia Carnival. Also going to zonk the gloss black on door panels. But other than that the inside was better then the old one. Not my favorite Kia Joe I'll be honest, think Kia phoned this one in! But great work again!

I hope they don’t just put out the hybrid first. I want the plug-in type, already on a list with a dealer. As for the title of the video, I don’t think this is a direct competitor for the RAV4, the new Tucson and Sportage with AWD in hybrid and plug-in variants are more direct competitors. That said, those folks who really never take their vehicle off-road, they should consider this vehicle over one of those 3 vehicles, because this should be much cheaper with better mileage.
