Are you serious? I always smile and wave at people, but when I am busy in a 2 ton car at a 35° incline with 2 passengers on board and another 2m wide vehicle passing by at centimeters distance, I tend to concentrate myself on driving and keeping the car from rolling over instead of waving, don't you think that's the better decision in that case? :) I didn't even see anyone in the other car because I was focussed on our car. Probably you have never been in a car at this angle before, on camera is looks way less spectacular as it really is, in reality, you feel like you are rolling out of your own window if the seatbelt wouldn't hold you. Try it: Put a pillow on a sofa and lean on to it. And then imagine you would be driving in a car in that angle. So judging my character by not waving in that situation of potential danger is clearly one thing of you: not nice.

Yeah, Utah and Colorado are both known for weird weather. Here in Colorado it has snowed as late as mid June, and it can be 74 degrees and sunny on Monday, and you can wake up to several inches of snow Tuesday morning. The 4 Corners area is basically a news team meteorologists worst nightmare. But it keeps ya on your toes.

As an Audi fan, i must admit that Mercedes have nailed it eversince their new design language was inserted in their portfolio. I used to dislike so much the bad build quality of the old mercs (lets say the time between 2007 - 2014). But now they really fixed what they needed to fix. I think their success is due to big investment in R&D.

I have yet to see these 2 in metal but from video...I think mercedes is started to lose in luxury department....the X7 looks more premium exterior and interior wise..I seem to notice some cheap material used in the car.thanks for the full HD video...same goes to X5 vs GLE...Im a mercedes fan but BMW kinda ahead in sportiness and luxury thesedays...better looking,better to drive,better build per say..but mercedes is rather blunt in design and seems to cheaplify things in some areas..and in terms of performance kinda few secs behind. Maybe they'll go full fledge luxury with Maybach GLS and go full performance with the AMG 54/63/73..but as for now the X7 offers both worlds just about right...

Excellent review. MB applied very little effort in making the GLS/GLE better than the previous generation. Underpowered GLS and GLE. with underwhelming tech. How is it that the BMW base V6TT engines are faster than the mid/upper level engines in the MB?? The seats and interior trim don’t look or feel as premium as BMW. This just confirms the new BMW X7 and X5 owns the German Luxury SUV class.

One reviewer said the curve function made her seasick. That happens with many passengers in tilting trains (Neigezug). The g-forces don’t go away, but are only perceived as being transformed from sideways to downwards (towards the floor), right?

On the mpg with whether V6 or V8 : I had a 1995 Chevrolet S10 four-door 2wd 4.3L V6 that hardly got over 18 mpg. Contrast to our 2003 Toyota 4Runner 4.6L V8 awd that usually gets around 22 mpg. Needless to say we kept the Toyota.

Great review Thomas in a addition to the suspension tilting and curve funktion I think Mercedes do not offer rear wheel steering on GLE and GLS to prevent dangerous unbalanced high center of gravity situations like a moose test.

BMW X7 is new king in luxury 7 seater SUV . This GLS can't beat it . It looks like a the way Toyota Hilux turned into Toyota fortuner Mercedes turned their X class pickup into GLS for design propective . Not a good looking car looks same as the previous GLS a minibus .

Maybe wait for a comparison review. Both are excellent cars with different strengths. Audi q8 also worth a comparison. BMW has a very nice interior of great quality but many find the exterior polarizing. It all comes down to personal taste. I prefer a large SUV that focuses on comfort and space. Love the idea of the GLS active body control suspension; think that would persuade me to get the GLS. I would be happy with any of them though!

Great review as always, interesting to hear that the ride is similar to the new GLE. There was a night and day difference between the old version of the GL compared to the ML. The GL was much quieter and had a much more comfortable ride. I ordered my 2014 GL with the active curve feature so it was even softer in a straight line but cornered amazingly flat. The best of both worlds. One thing that disturbs me is that the second row headrests do not fold down out of the rear field of vision, like the old ones did. I really wanted the new GLS to be a premium product, but feel as though it is just a slightly larger GLE. After test driving a S 560 4Matic, I realize that this new GLS is certainly not in the same league as the S class sedan.

Sorry Engines and irrepressible suspension. The RRover wins on suspension, it just lacks the jump system (like mercedes). Designers are earning well and don't use their brains, it's not just the look that counts. They could learn and be inspired by some particularities of other vehicles. Those in this car need to come up with ideas and make better use of spaces, and apply what is really needed. Put an old person up and you'll find the handles missing. Headboard is underused, could dock for tablet, USB ports, audio. On the back, there could be a table, mesh/non-mesh bellows for magazines, a small hook +/- at medium height, on the inside, next to the entrance to the door for a small shopping bag that could hold 5 to 10kg. The buttons in the trunk for folding the seats are always in the wrong place. Fill the suitcase and then remember to fold the seats down for some reason and you will have to think (BMW, Mercedes, ... All), Front seats should have a small drawer with Media KIT SOS and Vests. The Dashboard, I liked the BMW as well as this one. But next to the driver there should be another screen for entertainment (like the Li One, much more accessible). No father of a family and much less for anyone who can buy this type of car. Any parent who cares about safety, does not place the smallest children in the 3rd row but in the 2nd row for accessibility reasons to guarantee immediate help to the little ones, so the ISOFIX on the back is a waste of money unless someone has 4 twins at once or don't know how to control the birth. At this point in the championship, European manufacturers still don't know that the USB ports must be in a horizontal position (unless they have protection) because of dust or objects that can fall into them (example BMW x7 on the headboard wins, since Now, does mercedes have it too? As it unquestionably has comfort, the same cannot be said for the look/design of the seats (all of them). In other words, it leaves a lot to be desired for a vehicle like this. When referring to the height of the seats, what you say is not correct, because comfort is exactly the position you are in. It is on the pelvis and shoulder blades that the weight should fall for greater leg comfort, whether on short or long trips. The support for the arms is that in both models, it seems that they will not pass the resistance test with children, they seem very weak, that is, they don't seem robust to me. As for legroom in the 3rd row, there's no need to squeeze your leg, because this car is bigger than BMW X7. In short for a PREMIUM CAR like a BMW x7, they bring very little to justify the value. You pay a lot just for the brand and the trade-in value. There are also vehicles with air suspension and hydraulics much more affordable and much more economical in consumption. I could be wrong, the stingers of these brands forgive me. A chicken, a dog, a pig is different from a calf or a cow, because when I buy them I demand that the difference in the product justifies the asking price. RRover managed to beat the big PREMIUM in Europe (all doors open and close smoothly, and automatically), everyone has been forgetting so that the 3rd row has an opening window (air conditioning is different from air conditioning (Conditioning, as it says conditioning ) as well as adding enough battery so that the range is greater than 50 km without penalizing the vehicle's weight. Mercedes has an obligation to be better as all the technology it has and that applied to the EQS could have applied to the top of GLS SUVs, they say it is the Class S of the SUV, ----- ;) ----- Please drink from the RRover 2022, Li One, the Hongqi E-HS9 and the Horizons Hiphi X (a chave deste deve ser bem mais simplificada)

The GLS is a very capable tow vehicle. I tow regularly with mine. It’s good to see that Mercedes has added a trailer back-up assist like Ford has. However no mention was made about an integrated trailer brake controller for electric brakes to tow trailers with electric brakes. Is this an option in 2020?

El problema es que mides casi dos metros, si no midieras esos casi 2 metros y midieras.... 1.75 como un servidor y pusieras la primera fila y la segunda a la distancia de alguien de mi altura, pues cabrías sin problema en la tercera fila de asintos. No todos los "adults" miden lo que tú 😝 Por lo demás. Muy buenos vídeos y muy detallados!

First, like all of your other reviews, this was such a well presented and informative review. Thanks for doing so much efforts. I've never come across any channel that does such long reviews without making viewers feel bored. Second, I was really intrigued when you were driving in the countryside behind that car. It was such an open road and I couldn't figure out why you were confused with the driving style of the driver in the car ahead of you? Here in India, had we seen such an open road, we would have zoomed past that car a long time back. But that also tells how careful you are in sticking to the street rules and proper driving manners. Why don't you come to India and review the newly launched KIA Seltos? But I must tell you it's too hot here at this time of the year compared to what you are used to in Europe or in The US. Also, traffic manners might kill you. You might want to do some homework on how people drive here before landing in New Delhi. Did you know that the radar-based safety system in cars was banned in India until just a year back? And premium automakers like BMW, Audi, Mercedes, Jaguar, etc still haven't offered those radar-based safety features in its cars in India, even though they cost much higher than in Europe and The US. They know that all those systems will never work here given the insane traffic manner and poorly marked lanes. Still, I expect you to come to India and do a review :)

Thanks!! Yeah indeed since my driver's license is vital to my job and I also dont wanna pay fines or be locked up, I don't exceed speed limit. Problem with the car was that it was driving like 10-20 mph less than allowed, but for being passed I needed to exceed the speed limit for it to be safe. lol really? interesting fact. But now radar is allowed?

Autogefühl : Yep, radars are now allowed but none of those premium automakers have yet offered it any of their car. I guess, Mercedes recently offered radar safety in the new S-Class whereas the new BMW 7 series and Audi A8 are still awaiting to be launched in India. The previous gen didn’t have those features due to the banishment. But...I tell you that Radar based features will fail in Indian scenario and the driver has to finally take the control of the car. What’s actually discouraging is the exorbitant price. You could get a 7 series in Europe and The US at the cost of 5 series in India. Tch!!

Autogefühl : And don’t worry about speed limits here. Even the cops don’t care of the speed limit. It’s mostly just a formality so that any NGO couldn’t file a PIL against the transportation department. Lol. But some expressways like Yamuna-express connecting Delhi and Agra (the Taj Mahal City) might have strict monitoring on speed limits.

Autogefühl : You must come here. For one, you’d definitely enjoy the culture and diversity in people and even the flora and fauna. Certainly, you’ve been around the world and have come across a vast array of cultures around the globe. I hope you’d love some Indian culture as much as European, American or African culture. Diversity. Though, I doubt you’d like the food as much since a typical Indian dish is spicy. Why don’t you make an entire review on your experiences on different cultures around the globe?

Interior is too much GLE, doesn’t look S class enough. Personally not a fan of two fin grill on Mercedes SUVs.

Did you have any problems with the rear seats - not folding using the rear controls? I saw another reviewer out there with you and he had to get the Mercedes guys to resolve the issue.

maybe it was about the ignition? As I said, for some functions you need different power, there is ignition off, ignition lvl1, ignition lvl2 and finally engine running. And you need different power levels for different stuff
