2025 Porsche Cayenne S Coupe: The Sporty Choice
The Cayenne lineup received some major updates for 2024, with revised styling, new engines and tech features across the board. Among the changes was the addition of a powerful twin-turbo V8 for the Cayenne S variants. For 2025, Porsche is introducing the sportier Cayenne GTS Coupe model, but we had the chance to drive the 2025 Cayenne S Coupe first.
The Heart Of A Sports Car
Under the hood is a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 pumping out a healthy 468 horsepower and 442 lb-ft of torque. That's a big jump over the previous Cayenne S Coupe's 434 hp and 405 lb-ft from its 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6. The new V8 is paired to an excellent eight-speed automatic and standard all-wheel drive.
Get the Cayenne S Coupe rolling and the V8 snarls to life with a deep, throaty growl from the exhaust. There's a meaty power delivery with virtually no turbo lag. Porsche says 0-60 mph happens in just 4.1 seconds, which is properly quick - we matched that time in a previous test of the Cayenne S SUV. The transmission is a gem, executing crisp upshifts and nearly imperceptible downshifts when you need a burst of passing power.
The True Porsche Experience
Of course, straight-line speed is just one part of the Cayenne's appeal. More importantly, Porsche's midsize SUV delivers the kind of precise handling and steering response that you'd expect from the brand's sports cars. The Cayenne S Coupe exhibits excellent chassis balance and steering feel. The optional rear-axle steering system ($1,620) makes the big SUV feel remarkably nimble on twisty roads.
You can dial up the sportiness via the drive mode selector, sharpening the throttle response, stiffening the adaptive air suspension, and adding weight to the steering in the process. Even in its more comfort-oriented modes, the Cayenne S Coupe tackles challenging tarmac with aplomb. The brakes are strong and resistant to fade, with our test vehicle's optional cast iron composite rotors ($3,490) providing excellent bite.
A High Performance Luxury Cruiser
When you're not carving up backroads, the Cayenne S Coupe is a wonderfully luxurious and comfortable way to travel. The cabin is impeccably crafted from high-end materials and the front seats offer excellent support. There's also plenty of room for adults in the second row despite the Coupe's sloped roofline. Rear cargo space does take a hit compared to the standard Cayenne SUV, however.
Like all Porsches, you'll pay a premium for the Cayenne's levels of capability and craftsmanship. The 2025 Cayenne S Coupe starts at $109,995 including destination, and our test car crested $130,000 after piling on the enticing optional extras like 22-inch wheels ($3,130), the premium Burmester sound system ($5,810), and more. That's serious money, but few SUVs can match the Cayenne's level of driving engagement and everyday livability. For the performance-oriented buyer, the Cayenne S Coupe makes a compelling case.
