The classic Green Hornet TV hero car The Black Beauty is now in 1:25 scale with ALL-NEW tooling from AMT. This kit was created with authentic details inside and out. The outside has gadgets galore including the front gas gun, front rocket launchers, rear gun, reach rocket launchers, scanner (satellite), and rear brooms. The detailed interior includes an infra-green visor, a detailed dashboard compartment for the front phone, a front TV screen, a front speaker, a partition with main controls, a rear TV screen, a rear speaker & oscilloscope, and a rear phone. The model can be built with the gadget doors opened or closed. Other features include custom rims, center & side grilles, double infra-green headlights or single lens headlight options, and multiple plate options. Also included are the full-color water-slide decals and BONUS Green Hornet & Kato figures!

The Green Hornet is a superhero created in 1936 by George W. Trendle and Fran Striker, with input from radio director James Jewell.
Since his 1930s radio debut, the character has appeared in numerous serialized dramas in a wide variety of media. The Green Hornet appeared in film serials in the 1940s, The Green Hornet television series in the 1960s (which costarred Bruce Lee in his first major adult role), multiple comic book series from the 1940s onwards,[1] and a film in 2011.
The franchise is owned by Green Hornet, Inc., which licenses the property across a wide variety of media that includes comics, films, TV shows, radio and books. As of the 2010s, the comic-book rights are licensed to Dynamite Entertainment.
The Green Hornet is a television series shown on the ABC U.S. television network. It aired for the 1966-1967 television season and stars Van Williams as both the Green Hornet and Britt Reid, and Bruce Lee as Kato.[12][13] With his insistence on using his martial arts skills, Bruce Lee stole the show as Kato. This was perhaps the first time Asian martial arts fighting was seen on American TV. The show launched Bruce Lee's career as a popular actor in the US as well as in Hong Kong. Audience interest even led to Van Williams asking to learn some martial art moves.[14]
Williams and Lee's Green Hornet and Kato appear as anti-heroes in the second season of the Batman TV series in the two-part episode "A Piece of the Action" / "Batman's Satisfaction". The episode ended with Batman himself questioning whether or not the Green Hornet was really a criminal. Unlike the "campy" version of Batman, this version of The Green Hornet was played more seriously.
Animated series
In July 2020, Kevin Smith and WildBrain announced plans to develop a Green Hornet animated series set in the present day and focused on a reimagined Green Hornet and female Kato.[15] On February 28, 2023, Smith confirmed in an episode of Fatman Beyond that the series would be 10 episodes.

The Black Beauty was NOT based on a Lincoln, that was the Batmobile (the Lincoln Futura show car); the Black Beauty was based on the Imperial (NOT Chrysler Imperial... Imperial by Chrysler... not until 1969 when it became a model of Chrysler, before that it was a separate division like Plymouth and Dodge) . Glad to see the kit, AND the build! This and the 1966 Batmobile were the ones I wanted desperately in 1/25th scale in the 1980s. Glad it’s available now. They really put a lot of love in this kit. The designer Dean Jefferies (of Monkee mobile fame) I think would be proud. Great job on the channel and this build.

Ha, personally, I always thought of the Green Hornet as a good guy in "bad guy" clothes ! That's how he was able to work both sides of the system. It's too bad the movie was disappointing, it could've been sooo much better if it didn't try to be so comedic. The talent and "look" was there, it just didn't make it IMO anyway.

Nice kit. I would've have preferred it to have an engine like the sixties batmobile. Kato was played by the late Bruce Lee. The green hornet made a guest appearance on the sixties batman series.

Everything I have seen about this kit looks fantastic. I’m waiting for the kit I have on order to get started with the build. Some confusion may be due to the car in the original radio serial being a Lincoln Zephyr. Trivia: the Dean Jeffries Black Beauty was painted in “30 coats of metal flake, pure black green pearl.”

Black Beauty was built by George Barris using a 1966 Imperial sedan so its for sure that there’s a big block 440 under that hood.

Dean Jefferies built this car and a twin, George Barris bought the number two car that was in a Quiet Riot video the Wild and the Young, George Barris also claimed he built the Monkeemobile's, There was two of those built by Dean Jeffries also.

Nice Build up , The body and vinyl roof striping on the TV car are chrome stripes are NOT white. Round 2 made a mistake supplying white decals, so for those who want an accurate screen used Black Beauty use bare Metal foil stripes or Chrome paint pen.,

or you can build the car from the first episode that had no chrome on the roof, sides or hood...all the other episodes should be chrome and not white....I agree Round 2 dropped the ball there otherwise fantastic kit

I have feeling the white stripes were added to emphasise the cars shape on crappy old cameras. The same way they would use bright colors and overdone makeup on characters and sets in that era. Otherwise, the car would probably look like black blob in half of the shots. EDIT: After wathing some old original footage I'm sure that was the case, in night chase scenes white belts are only things visible on this car.

The real green hornet car HAD the white.... the stripes are there on a car actually restored by Dean Jefferies (he was in on the creation of the original along with George Barris) so the screamers can be assured it's OK =):-D

No need to scream if you have actual facts. Barris bought one of the cars after the series was cancelled, stuck his name on it and toured it nationally. He later ruined it with bolt-on crap for no apparent reason. He had nothing to do with the construction. George lied a LOT. I knew and occasionally worked with both GB & DJ for a couple of decades. NO big white stripes on the cars, just the drip rail moldings on the roof sides and the thin factory moldings atop the body sides. KZbin has all 26 episodes, see for yourself.

The bottom of that kit is AWFUL... suspension detail is NIL, really... the Imperial was a super-premium car, and came standard with dual exhaust, I owned a 68 coupe that was trimmed in BRASS plates inside.... Cmon AMT, this is a toylike feature.... at least give the bottom detail some thought... no engine is bad enough.... I'll probably still buy one, but that's a big disappointment....
