Not only a backlight which the old version did not have but one that stays on at the users command and sporting colorized alert with diode beep, wow. And hiow about that shielding, very nicely fit not just an after thought. Obviously some new software will need to be issued for the data link, but its just a software update away. Even more surprises in the audio and visual alert areas and more. The great thing is UniT appears to have been listening to its customer base and comments and responding in this new revision. Thanks for listening UniT, now just dot the I's and cross the T's to back up the price point and this one should be a winner and welcome major upgrade to its predecessor

Hi, I'm looking some extra features on this multi-meter, as an example if you press the hold button and turn it on is it how fast and how much count it will be(previous one, has a less count, but make supper fast measurement ) what about "ripple" AC on DC? why it go on overloading when nothing connect on it? TrueRMS bandwidth? Exclusion function through the range? Because everything that you show in your video we can make by 20$ multi-meter.
@KeepOnTesting4 жыл бұрын
AIexey, it's a standard touch hold, no delay ...unextraordinary. I would use the MIN/MAX feature to hold a reading as it will freeze the reading indefinitely. Unfortunately this clip was negated in the editing . I'm not sure what "overloading" you are referring to. It stays on dead zero with nothing connected in Voltage mode, there could be sone EMF at play on the leads if near other electrical sources but its usually very good at zeroing. Yes, AC-coupled true rms measurement is desirable when measuring small AC signals in the presence of large DC offsets. However I could not review every feature in detail as I wanted the video under 30 min. Stay tubed, there will be more on this great multimeter in the future.
@borr33tube4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the early review on the new Uni-T 61E+. I was hoping this would be an easy decision to upgrade to from my current 61E. I am always forgetting to turn off the 61E and draining the 9V battery. This new 61E+ meter certainly fixes that issue along with backlighting. I don't need the hFE or the NCV features and echo the wishes for a temperature measurement instead. The price seems a little high to just run out and buy another but hopefully that will come down over time. Maybe they can come out with another upgrade (61E++) that will be more for electronics.
@KeepOnTesting4 жыл бұрын
Hi Brian, I echo your sentiments. I don't know why they labeled the UT61E + as an Electricians multimeter ? It has no NCV and no weatherproofing/IP Rating...also no independent UL/Intertek Cert means it might not be sanctioned for professional use in North America. That being said, it's one great 👍 multimeter for the masses and the data logging feature (yes switched USB cables now works) is very fast and stable. Honestly though, if the improvements don't sway you then you're probably better off passing this one by, after all..its still a UT61E+ just leaner and meaner 😃👍

looks like 2 IR diode for USB communication, RX & TX probably like other high end DMM? Those diode beep test is similar to fluke 87V, and I surely appreciate that additional green led indicator, fluke should take a note. Hold button as backlight? I might miss my delay hold on UT61E, at least they should try autohold or similar to fluke's touchhold. Funny though they use those ARM processor and keep at 22000 counts; for the sake of UT61E name series probably? Clamping transistors looks nice and easy to identify (and get replaced with better TVS ). Resistor network similar to UT61E, some people try to replace it with very expensive Caddock but then realize it's 22000 count with 0.01mV resolution, not much of difference. No calibration trimpot? can be a good thing, supposedly more stable than those dreaded multiturn trimpot that keep drifted away, bad thing is you probably can't calibrate it yourself. Things I'd love is 0.001 mV resolution DC (and AC if possible), slightly faster capacitance measurement. They limit their max voltage measurements to 1000V, my mastech MY-64 survived many 1999-ish DCV with no breakdown and still going strong (it was 2000 count limited, hence 1999VDC max.). I use that voltage mostly to test MOVs & TVS.
@KeepOnTesting4 жыл бұрын
Correct, the Cyrustek chipset is 32,000 count so its definitely held back from its full potential. UNI-T did alot of things right with this dmm. No calibration trimpot makes sense and should help with stability over the long term. The MY64 series is definitely a work horse!! Great info.. thx for your input 👍

Well, it's definitely an improvement for the UT61E. The screen is large and sharp. The indefinite backlight alone deserves a star. The color coded input.. Nice AAA batteries.. Audible diode testing.. I like it. It's a shame that they rushed the release, though. UNI-T had had to work hard to get a reputation of a reliable manufacturer. I'm not sure it was a wise move to make the consumers wait for them to sort all the software problems. I see it got a place in the top ten cheapos. I wouldn't call an $80+ multimeter a cheapo, but it's a good multimeter nonetheless. And I would have to agree with Marcos Cano. The visual effects can make videos look more flashy. But at 18:32 they are too distracting. As for the Christmas draw, I already got a multimeter from Santa. No other presents needed. Still hope to catch the Christmas livestream this year.

I’m curious what the voltage drop across the meter is at 200mA and whether or not the handful of ohms from a 220mA fuse would be significant. It seems like it’s an upgrade from a 61E, especially as far as input protection goes.

Ouch. USB logging is what makes this DMM unique. I'd be livid if I bought it for that feature and couldn't get it to work. Other points: 250mA is too low on the low current side. Are those 4 AAA 4s or 2s2p? If 2s2p, they should have used 2 AA. Lastly, I think I missed the diode testing. Overall for $100, I'd expect UL listing, 600mA low current, and working USB.
@KeepOnTesting4 жыл бұрын
The USB data logging was a real pain. Definitely should be working without all the hassle. I'll keep you posted. Btw, it's running on 4 AAA batteries. Standard diode testing was nicely implemented with an audible beep and visual indicator. Definitely missed the UL listing and agreed, that mA range is too low for a multimeter in this price range.

Which model 🤔
@AD-wd7ff3 жыл бұрын
Hello. I bought this multimeter a couple of days ago. A very good model for your money. The software works fine in Windows 10, but to download it, you need to solve a puzzle: there is one extra dash in the link to the program,before ._exe, delete it, and everything will load. What disappointed: weak NCV (not really needed) and there is no indication when the LEDs will ring ....

As I recall, you were going to breakout the bubbly with a cheao meter, but you could do it anyway and buy more for later. That meter has some pro ranges and good input protection; however, the higher cost and lack of UL, CE, SA, ETL or etc puts it in questionable position. I wonder about the data link. Good review--count me in the draw.

@@juancarlossandoval5628 Yes that's correct. However, Conformité Européenneor or products that have received the CE Mark are not automatically considered to be UL Listed. This is, in part, because some product types with the CE Mark do not have to be third-party certified and are not necessarily compliant with North American standards.

Something doesn't look right. Why does it use a 10A fuse, when it's supposed to be able to read up to 20A?
@graememorris78203 жыл бұрын
Why was my comment deleted ? I just mentioned that I owned two UNI T multimeters in close succession , and they both broke down , thereby presenting the question of reliability. It would be nice to hear from others with experience of the brand regarding both reliability and unreliability, so that potential purchasers can make a slightly more educated guess before buying. Why the censorship?
@KeepOnTesting3 жыл бұрын
Hmm..nothing was deleted. I love the feedback. Good or bad its all relevant ! Reliability is important and so is price, build quality, performance, features and input protection. I think UNI-T has a real winner with the UT61E+
@graememorris78203 жыл бұрын
@@KeepOnTesting Thanks for the appreciation of my feedback. My Meters were both 61A’s . Maybe input protection has been enhanced on the 61E.model. I agree with you that as far as performance and capabilities go,, Uni T give incredible value for money. As far as reliability and durability go, I’m not sure . I may just have been unlucky with my two- it would be good to get some feedback from other owners. My personal experience with UNI T has just caused me to fork out on a Fluke.

Great review, as always! I wonder what multimeter would you choose: UT61E+ for 76EUR, UT17B PRO for 59EUR, or UT191T PRO for 63EUR? Or some other DMM, even better, in the same ballpark? I need it for occasional household/automotive/bench work
@KeepOnTesting4 жыл бұрын
WOW..no pressue eh 😄 If I had to choose just one and I didn't need to use it outside just strictly on the bench I would opt for the UT61E+, it just impresses me more everyday. I suppose if I didn't already have 8 or 10 meters it might be a decent purchase. But they shouldn't call it "Electrician" with no UL listing, crappy NCV and the other drawbacks. But when has China ever worried about their product claims matching the product?

Great question 🤔 Personally, I would. However, if you're happy with your existing multimeter and the new backlight, added features aren't a deal-breaker then don't.
