I appreciate videos like this, as I'm an artist with CVD (sometimes termed color blindness.) "Turquoise" and "teal" are colors that are invisible to me, so I have to closely rely on other's experiences. You have done an EXCELLENT job at describing each of these pigments. Thanks so much.

Teal/Turquoise is my favorite colors. Thanks for making this video... You've invested a lot into doing that for us. My favorite has always been Qor and I ran out this year. However, I went out on a limb this year and replaced Qor with M. Graham's "Cobolt Teal.

Great video. So many people LOVE turquoise and teal. It must be because these colours are very calming, peaceful colours. My favourite colour is green and these colours are cousins of green 😊. I have a lot of Mijello colours but not the one you presented. I have a beautiful cobalt turquoise from them . It’s number W590. It’s sort of like the W&N cobalt teal but more on the blue. It’s made with PB28. Also in Mijello, peacock blue W543 is very close to W&N phthalo turquoise. It’s made with PB15:3 and PG7 and it’s a beautiful smooth colour. I like the Mijellos because they are intense and rewet easily, but NOBODY beats Daniel Smith in granulating colours! Keep up the great work. I so enjoy your videos. You are like turquoise and teal, calm and peaceful. Your voice is so soothing and your information, spot on.😌

The schiminke watercolor is equal tube and pan, but if you use directly from the tube you probably gets more paint than reweating the dried pan. The formula is the same, it's like when we eat a hot new cake and a cold cake from the other day, one is moister but you eat more than the other that is dryer but you can control yourself better. Hope my delicious example helped.❤

My favorite turquoise is DaVinci's Cobalt Turquoise and DaVinci's Cobalt Turquoise Deep. I like Schmincke's Helio Turquoise however it's a bit too staining for my taste. W&N Cobalt Turquoise Light is a bit chalky for me but I still like it therefore it's my #3 turquoise color. Nice video and thanks for sharing!

I bought Daniel Smith's Cobalt Teal Blue a couple of years ago and I was extremely disappointed when I got home. To me it was too darkly valued, too green, and too dull. I was looking for a true bright Cyan color and still haven't found it. The closest I've found is Sennelier Turqoise Green. What would you say is a true/bright cyan color?
@lhemz2366
@lhemz2366 Жыл бұрын
@@FuriedHearts You should watch@AllanJayQuesada. He previously suggested MissionGold Turquoise pure pigment. But he has a lot more collection from worldwide brands. Ther are also talk about the expensive QOR cyan. I already experimented with Neon mixes (i dont care much about lightfastness) and have some small breakthroughs with bright cyan. But the only real bright cyan that satisfied me is the cyan from QLED TV screens.😅

I REALLY enjoyed this video and found the information incredibly interesting. Last month we did color studies using turquoise for an online art community (journalingthemagic.com/pages/wizarding-artist-society) that I partipate in. I only used the colors in my collection with the word "turquoise" in the name; otherwise, it would have been way more colors than I could manage for the activity we did. My favorite was Daniel Smith's Kingman Green Turquoise, which was the least blue of the bunch. However, I found your video interesting because it got me thinking about other colors that are similar (which maybe don't have "turquoise" in the name), but also about actual turquoise as a stone/gem. Turquoise comes in a variety of blues AND greens with veins of gray, black, brown, and tan. I really love the color blue and tend to be drawn to blues in general in terms of my paint choices, especially Cerulean, which is probably a good thing since I mostly paint land and seascapes. How did you decide which colors you chose for this study/video? Why didn't you choose any more greenish turquoises?

My favorite color ever! 💙💙💙/💚💚💚!!! Thank you for covering it! I may be saying something unpopular, but it’s so odd that when you see DS’s turquoise colors and the the Primatek ones swatched out on paper alongside one another plus brands worldwide, questions/statements arise. Mine is, “If it’s too good to be true, it’s likely not.” We own every one of these including the White Night’s and Rembrandt and Szmal and…and…omg, if it’s turquoise, I probably own it. I’ve also seen the difference between the pigments/manufacturing as I’ve painted. I have to say that it’s strange that many of the “Genuine” colors (not just turquoise) look like they have mica in them. They may not have much (perhaps), with the exception being the oddly thick contents in a tube of a Tiger’s Eye I got as a gift when it was first released. More rambling follows… My partner and I make handmade watercolors and we know we can never compare to a major manufacturer…but it’s just amazing seeing the various swatches side-by-side. To reiterate, some of the Primatek paints resemble lab created paints with a touch of “sparkle.” Even if Primatek is or isn’t “100% genuine stone suspended in gum Arabic and other trade secret chemicals” I’ll enjoy mine until they’re gone then make dupes. 😱 I thought I’d never write those words, but we’re watercolor collectors as well as artists and…we make paint. I hope it all gets 100% resolved. In fact, I stopped following the “Prima-Rip” content. Any new news from DS? Equally, after seeing my beloved W&N’s Hues perform poorly in lightfastness tests compared to cadmium’s and such, I’ll be responsible in disposal of utterly cut apart and used dead tubes…and will buy cadmiums. I’m super aware of environmental issues (trust me, if people did the research on electric car batteries, they’d still buy the electric cars, but would drive them until there was utterly zero way to repair one). My buyers shouldn’t have to be concerned that a painting of their favorite family member or beloved pet would just fade even behind UV glass in fifteen years or five or one. In the end, though, have fun. My hubby and I married our watercolor collections together and we do our own lightfastness checks. We’ve been startled at how amazing some Eastern watercolors outperform massive brand name ones at the three, six, one year and, for some, five year points since we test in both southern and western facing windows, and mass tone to heavily diluted. Last thoughts, thank you and others for doing simple comparison videos like this! 🌷- A flower for you! They’re great! We watch art YT as entertainment (we seem focused, huh?) and thank you for all comments, be they good, bad or indifferent. Everyone should have a voice. ❤️ to Art! It’s a lifesaver!

Thank you so much for this swatches Alyona.One question if you got a time to answer it is there any substitute for the cobalt pigment and that the color is also teal.I don't want to use heavy metal pigments i use earth friendly colors but Andrew Tischler oil painter also pointed out the many uses for cobalt teal and how with that color you can have endless range of mixes...It would be really cool to find some substitute with some synthetic or any other pigment then cobalt but to be teal.... I try to find in WhiteNights teal they have it but is also cobalt teal so that is a no no for me.... I can mix it with bright blue and emerald green to get turq. blue but that is not near cobalt teal color.

Combine Pthalo Blue (green shade) and Pthalo Blue (blue shade) together and you should be able to get a variety of teals & turquoises, depending on the ratio you use. Combining Viridian or Cerulean also adds a variety of shades.

Thank you so much for doing this video. I am currently on the hunt for a true "cyan" color-- a very bright true cyan that doesn't lean toward green or too blue. So far Sennelier Turquoise green is the best I have found (PG50). But I haven't tried many. The only other one I've tried is Daniel Smith's Cobalt Teal Blue and I hated it. It was too dull and dark valued and granulates super heavily and is too green. Oddly enough, this color is usually raved about and on screen it looks gorgeous. Mine was a flop. Maybe it just looks better on camera? Anyways, what would you say is the best, brightest, truest CYAN (CMY) color? All of these look beautiful on screen but I'm not sure they're as accurate on my end. Thank you!
