unlike whats shown in the video, Ive learnt many times that horizontal filters block vertical and vertical filters block horizontally orientated light, Is this wrong ?? Thanks

That's what I used to think too! But it's wrong. At least, more wrong than right. In reality, polarisation is WAY more complicated and weird than this simple model. For example - which wave are we considering - the E or the M?! Put simply, the electrons in a filter/antenna must be able to oscillate if they are to absorb waves - so a vertically polarised wave will be absorbed by those in a vertical line. (This is still a mickey mouse explanation...but then even the best one is too at the end of the day). The only thing you need to know for A-level is that turning the filter 90 degrees results in a max to min intensity transmitted.

You didn't show the derivation of the diffraction grating formula? That's a required spec point?

@@ScienceShortsAQA, check the spec it says "Derivation of dsinθ = nλ"

Ah well - I've never seen a question require that in a paper. Hopefully you can make a triangle and use trig - it's easy!

@@ScienceShorts yeah it's not too bad actually pretty easy learn actually. Do you think solely your revision videos and practice questions are sufficient for a high A*. Or is there any extra content/things to know when aiming for 90%+?

Well, lots of my students got A*s when I taught in school, and I didn't really do anything that differently to what's in my videos! But yes, practice questions are the key.
